without a chiller using a fan is possible for smaller volumes. but even with a fan it’s tough to maintain that temperature especially with the fluctuations of day/night and the weather. best to go for a chiller if you’re looking to maintain temperatures below 28 degrees Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

Temperature of tank is around 31
soggycookies replied to CloudStreams's topic in General Reefkeeping_
for corals definitely not. you can get away with 31 degrees for fish-only but overstocking will definitely cause issues. also, deepwater species will likely be a bad idea considering the high temp Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app -
more about maintaining a stable range imo. you can keep them in 29 degree water but if the temp often rises to above 30 you’re gonna have a problem. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

Just a small update this evening: my Cowfish, Porcupinefish and wrasse having a wee chat before getting utterly photobombed by one of my batfish! Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

Besides the first addition of my Longspine Porcupine Puffer, I’ve more recently been stocking up on smaller and/or more delicate and gentle fish, such as these 2 halichoeres wrasses: A transitioning Chain-Line Wrasse and a terminal male Erdmanni Wrasse. I’ve also added a group of 4 juvenile teira batfishes, a 2-inch Feathery Filefish and surprise surprise: a Longhorn Cowfish! All of these are juveniles so I doubt I will be adding anything even semi-aggressive to this setup. More photos to come. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

Hooked up my RO/DI unit to the ATO reservoir(I’m using the larger IKEA laundry bin model of the same design as per my other thread for the 300G softie reef) for the weekly refill. Clean and easy assembly and housing of the entire unit Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

As above. Missed the one at Iwarna recently. Please pm if you’ve seen one around or are looking to let yours go. Cheers Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

Latest addition: A classic lumi-green Kenya Tree with bluish tips of the nepthea variety(not capnella) from a fellow reefer’s trimmings. He ran mostly T5s in 10,000k if I’m not mistaken, so I didn’t get to see how luminous it was until i put it in the 300G. Lovely big piece Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app -

doesn’t look dead to me. typically corals like these aren’t dead until you see tissue disintegration Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

can try looking at de aquatic caribsea selection of 10lb sand. not sure if they also have 5lb bags but you could call in to check

where did you get this kenya tree from? it could be a non-photosynthetic species. not all coral sold as “kenya trees” have symbiotic algae within them(i.e it could be non-photosynthetic). in this case it could be that it’s slowly starving without food. sorry to say but these types of nps coral are not easy to keep and require very specific feeding. just one of the possibilities.
