  6. Too late bro, i just ordered a custom tank last week! I dont have space for another tank, though i wud love to have 1 more Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  7. Tank must have the right parameters, if thats what u mean by mature, then yes.. slightly dirty meaning more nutrients than required? but if its abt nitrate, its ok to have some amt of nitrate in general (less than 5ppm). Gsp should be easy even with a bit higher nitrate lvl [emoji3] Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  8. Mine took about 10 days to open, they can be stubborn. They will open up eventually. Ensure good water chemistry and keep clearing the diatoms formed up on the gsp. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

  13. Nvr seen roller blinds being used for that b4, not sure if it is rigid enuff. But its all abt doing something new and enjoying it at the same time. Thumbs up for ur DIY idea Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  14. With improving tech and new products in the reefing industry every year, seems like it will be a life long learning situation [emoji28] But the reefing basics dont change.. I really hope 1 day some1 will come up with an elixir to dose our tanks which will take care of all the major and minor trace elements, inc mg kh & cal.. and also lower nitrate and phosphate.. all in 1 product! Too much to ask for i guess [emoji23] Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  15. But is your stand gonna be open concept, open view of the sump? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  16. Hi Nick, i see that ur going for a shallower tank this time. I think its great for maintanance.. 2ft deep is slightly harder to maintain especially if its bare bottom and need to reach down all the way to remove detritus. Looking to get a new shallow tank myself Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  17. I dont have a nano tank to swap, but i am thinking of getting a shallow tank. Nvr seen a tank of ur dimensions and curious to see how it looks like. If u dun mind, possible to add pics of ur tank Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  18. So if your plumbing has a lot of turns, better to get a more powerful pump. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  19. U mean the return pump? I am using a DC pump, so i can adjust the flow. Some wud prefer high flow while others prefer low flow. I prefer flow to be arnd 3 to 5 times the volume of the tank, per hour. Must always get a higher capacity pump cos there will be loses to the flow in the pipings (e.g. 90 degree turns will have flow loses). Having said that, I usually get recommended 10 times the volume of the tank, per hour when buying pumps. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  20. Nope, only 4 compartments. The marine pure blocks are in the same compartment as the skimmer. Sump is abt 60cm x 50cm, water level at abt 25 to 30 cm. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  21. Hi, i am also looking to custom build a new tank and sump. The config for my current sump is, 1) filter socks 2) marine pure blocks 3) skimmer 4) refugium 5) return pump Prefer to have the refugium after skimmer so that the max no of pods can survive theyr way into the display tank. Also prefer to add marine pure blocks instead of live rocks to sump as they have much more surface area for bacteria. Ofcourse this is just how i do it, doesnt mean its the right way or the only way. I am still learning a lot in this hobby [emoji1] I also have a UV, couple of media reactors and a chiller plumbed to the sump. Very messy setup and thus i want to custom build a new sump. Messy sump is a headache when it comes to maintenance[emoji28] Hope that helps! Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  22. U dun need to add the copepods as the chaeto i gave already have enough critters to populate over time [emoji1] just ensure your water parameters are correct and stable, all will be fine [emoji106] Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  23. Hi, i have replied. Pls check Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
