how about remove the beckett injector, connect it directly to a smaller magnet pump n attach few needlewheels....then again it sound quiet silly,is it?it would be different concept rather then to better up the beckett performance...
-
by attaching the needlewheels pump onto it main body,it could cause unstable turbulance ok i get what u mean Im using an 8" body n 3 ft tall......do any of diy xpert ever tried it or think about it before?
-
wow tks for the info.... what models are u using n may i know how much $$$ did u spent on this?(whole package that is)
-
well i hv a beautiful blood red colour wif luminus greenstips healthy open brain to swop wif any yellow tang....anybody interested? pic taken did not do justice compare viewing wif the ###### eye.....due to lousy DC used.... will throw in another coral for free if the deal goes well....
-
i'm just curious...can i mod my beckett skimmer by attaching 1 or 2 needlewheels pumps? is it worth doing it? if this is a dumb question, PLS ignore.....
-
hi lobster, tks for sharing...clean water means good light penetration means good for thriving coral esp sps means one happy reefer!

spawns replied to lightningstrike's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
hi tigger, from my humble xperience,Lyretail Anthias is my answer BUT dont quote me on that.....like what the old birds here says, its all about the water parameter that matters....whitch i strongly agree..... good water=high chances of LS survival rate -

sorry guys, im bored.....n the thread saying that to which kind of anthias do you prefer???let just say that mine are not in the polling listing status.....whaaa haaa haaa ha! i hope i didnt offended anyone.... Pseudanthias sheni aka Shen's Anthias -
ok...u nedd to check whether hns do comes with this optional fixtures but i know that Deltec Protein skimmer hv it.... blueheaven, since u mention that it will improved skimmer performance, lets just say that im using a mid range deltec for eg model AP851. this skimmer may hv cost me around $1300 n im going fix an ozonizer which will cost me around $800...so total cost should be around $2100....my question is whether the performance of my upgrading will match the the quality skimming of an high end skimmers? So if that the case, 6footers tanks(with maximum quantity of overload LS) or more can opts for this setup, instant of cracking the bank with much much more $$$ on high end skimmers....and not to mentions the cost of electric bills that could save
-
tks blueheaven can someone post some pics of a full set operational ozonizer n how it is connected to the skimmer? i do understand that certain skimmers come with ozonizer fixture but how about others that are not? D.I.Y beckett for example....can i fix/mod one tooo? do the ozone cause damage to the skimmer?(considering that the beckett are made from thick acrylic)

first pics Scientific Name: Pseudanthias ventralis ventralis aka Longfin Anthias Max. size: 7.0 cm TL (male/unsexed) Environment: reef-associated; marine; depth range 26 - 120 m Distribution: Pacific Ocean: Great Barrier Reef to islands in Oceania. Replaced by Pseudanthias hawaiiensis at the Hawaiian and Johnston Islands. Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17; ###### spines: 3; ###### soft rays: 9 Biology: Inhabits caves or coral rubble along steep drop-offs or channel walls. Secretive. Aquarium Care: This species is shy, and often times, is reluctant to eat in captivity. They can be induced to eat live brine shrimp, some frozen foods like brine shrimp, and small mysid shrimp. A refugium will help in the success of the Longfin Anthias. Best if kept with lower lighting in a deep water aquarium (temperatures 20-24ÂșC). Does not do well when tankmates are aggressive, and it is prone to disease. It may take this species several weeks to fully acclimate. Keep one male per tank, as they may fight, and might pick on females in smaller tanks. Anthias species all share the trait of being hermaphroditic. If a dominant male dies, the largest female of the social group will often morph to take its place. second pic Scientific Name: Holanthias natalensis aka Gorgeous Swallowtail Anthias Max. size: 37.4 cm SL (male/unsexed) Environment: benthopelagic; marine Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: known only from East London, South Africa to Madagascar and Reunion. Probably in Mozambique. Morphology: Dorsal spines (total): 10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17-19; ###### spines: 3; ###### soft rays: 8-9 Aquarium Care: Members of the genus Holanthias are typically found in deeper fore-reef areas. The Gorgeous Swallowtail is not readily available to hobbyists. They should be kept in deep water aquariums with low lighting. Deep-water Anthias vary in their social structure. Feed on zooplankton. third pic Scientific Name: Hemanthias signifer aka Damsel Anthias Common Names: Damsel Anthias, Damsel Bass Max. size: 42.0 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. published weight: 680 g Environment: demersal; marine; depth range 23 - 306 m Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Playa del Rey in southern California, USA to Peru. Morphology: A sharp spine projecting anteriorly from ventral border of urohyal Biology: Probably forms schools and lives near the bottom in deep waters. Aquarium Care: Deep-water aquarium. Not much information available on this species. Feeds on zooplankton. Would most likely be quite expensive to aquire due to the depth of collection. All the above info was quoted n i hope they dont mind.... -

I hv done some readings on these for a few days on a foreign reef forums m n what i understand is that it can burn up the DOCs in the water n as a result, clean crystal clear water n also without proper use, can cause REEF MELT DOWN via ozone. I feel like such a newbie(that is what i am now) reading most of these threads n my thought is that can any gurus out there can enlighten me up about these new gadget(that is to me ) the good n bad about these stuff/how to fixs it up(do i hv to mods my skimmer?) or better still for those who are presently using this, can share some experience? n one more thing, can we discuss in a simplest english as possible cause sometime i couldnt understand what the hack these ang mohs talking about in theirs forums ... me highest standard is just PSLE cert
