Hi all; Modify my regular 2 tube FL to 4 tube T5. Because my tank is a corner tank, so the retrofit does not fit. Went to many LFS and wanted to custom made, but many express difficulties in putting 4 tube. Finally spend 1 weeks for the design to fit my tank and come out with the design. It is by far the best I can think of, easy tube replacement (within the light box). Hope it can be a reference for hard to fit tanks. Parts List: 1. 2 x E-ballast 2. 1 x 24W Sun Pro Aquaz, 1 x 24W 20K Aquaz, 2 x Blue Pro Aquaz (Bought a Aquaz Actinic Pro from Dr Evil, but looks very dim, maybe faulty, but no time to replace, sigh... 1) Do I need to switch my skimmer, UV off when I am cycling? I will switch them off 2) Do I need to do a complete water change once by NH4, N02 becomes zero? No I will not do complete water change but 25% 3) Are bioballs really nitrate factory? Can I use them in the IOS overflow box? Yes they are but regular maintenance will keep them in check. 4) Why do people use kalk? For coral of course, I suspect. I dun use 5) Should I consider miracle mud in my sump, refugerium compartment? I dun use I as I dun have refugerium, but hear it not a bad idea if you know what you doing or have in refugerium. Good luck

My recommendation is Aquamarin from Jalan Kayu. They will tell you most stuff about keeping marine reef, and what you need. Actually a few also quite friendly and will also tell you. Aqua technic also good. Chances is that you will feel like buying something from them after they tell you what to do. Aquamarin - friendly Aqua technic - professional Reborn - cheaper lifestock Irwana - fish farm loh, never buy anything yet. Jih reh - Only bought a ballast once, dun really know.

So does the diatom comes off the sand after rowa??

QT using styrofoam box can, but not recommended. Difficult to monitor fishes you know. No filter also can but need to labourously change with with good established water. You can always use a 1-2 ft tank with a small hang on filter. my recommendation. No need air pump. I dun even use air pump in my main tank. Water comes from the main tank but never goes back to the main tank. Only can use establish water.

Wah pianz; Sea horse... Okay seahorse are plankton eater, really slow guys you know. Water is always the key to all LS irregalarless. Plan one good one for your budget. When you buy, at least I pair, my choice, as they live in community. Feeding is tough during acclimation. Live plankton will help very much, once it fit in, then they bottle feed loh. Feeding I think best with actinic on only. Last thing, they need some fan like stuff for them to hang...

Guys; Seems like the macro-algae and pest algae will dissappear by itself after using rowaphos??? Currently I have only one problem, my sand bed. Diatom exist only there as my cleaners have problem removing it. If I use rowa, will the diatom dissapear by itself???? Also rowa expensive, seen it at 35dollar... do I need to constantly replace it???

15W most cannot keep. Mushrom will bearly make it, but dun bother.

Saw the tank at atlantis, really blend very well in their interior design. I suspect their marine tank are more of concept living which does not include maintening the reef aquarium. I myself sees alot of equipment as a eye sore if left outside the tank. What the point of a nice reef tank if it screw up the interior design of the house. Whats the point if the maintenance of the tank frequently flood the living room. Again, if you are a beginner, customising the tank to fit in a cabinet make pose problem later if you decide to give up hobby. If money is not an issue, get a good ID, and a good tank maker, bring them together, you get the best of both world. Good ID >50K, Good Tank maker >3K. Let the ID take care of what in the house and Tank maker inside the tank. Starting a reef tank is easy, maintaining it is tougher.

For fishes, 3 very important: Ammonia, Nitrate and Nitrite. The rest is overdose of additive... Bad Water just make parasite bring death to the fish. If water is stable, the fish will survive the ich and you can react to it. Fishes have almost 100% chance of surviving ich if treated properly. Clown's first syntom of ich is rubbing of body on rocks. You have to watch...

Since Bali Zoo looks good under artinic, so it I have a 1 10K, 1 20K and 2 artinic, will I see the color??? Pardon for asking, I bought the 3 dollar zoo... Zoo beginner...

You clown is having weak resistance due to most probably water parameters. Check water but chances is that it too late now. Only possible way is get some well establish water to nurse it back to health. If it is not eating for 1 week, he is a goner. White film most of the time happens to tang as parasites. Clowns are much more hardy than tang, but when they show this symtoms, already quite weak.. Happens to me some 5 yrs back.

Who cares about them? They are super hardy. I have never fed them anything special. It is suppose to eat small water residue of food that your fish left over... If you really worry, can feed liquid plankton, but I dun think necessary. Health is determine by its crown but is also very subjective. My fan die bcos of the stupid hermiit crap rip it up and eat it.

I fee 2 times a day in moderation.

Aiya; Your stand can tahan the weight. It is just that w-iron will corrode in one way or the other. Oxidation of iron does not happens from outside, it comes from inside too, they are hollow you know. Over time, it happens. Marine tank make it faster... By then you will have a lousy time shifting the tank and reconfigure it mah. Sand-wise, I cannot live without it, so ugly to go bare bottom
