  1. Your Lion got eaten by starfish??????????????? First time I heard that..... I would have flush it down the toilet bowl long time ago...
  2. In the day with lights on, also approx 29 deg.
  3. Indeed those media will built up nitrate over time. But end of the day, it is how you wana do your maintenance and what you wana keep in your tank. Some coral needs nutrients rich environment so over-skimmed environment may not be suiltable. Some coral needs very clean water so under-skimmed water is not suitable. But most tank crash due to these nitrate factory bcos of irregular/misunderstood maintenance. You may like to read abt Belin method of filtration or even DSB for biological filtration. DSB is the most contested topic so you decide.
  4. You have any idea for a desk top lghts? I went to most LFS and cannot find ant PL that small that they carry.
  5. The best is to ask some friend that doing renovation and get carpenter to do you a favour.
  6. They retract if flow is strong. Also if the light is very intense, they open smaller, but this is okay.
  7. Just go to any carpenter at woodland industrial park. It is just that these people dun really want to take small jobs like this. Also customised stuff are also expensive.
  8. Ran over nite without lights. Temp is 29 deg...

    Fan in hood

Pianz; Installed 6 12VDC fan in the hood... Wah really noisy, cannot take it. Even louder than my fridge. Think I need to get a chiller... Wasted the effort of installing fan. Guess I need to live with it now, just check the temp, wow 32deg bcos of the 4 T5 tube... Running the fan overnite to see if temp comes down. A word of advise for bro who wants to DIY fan for cooling... Do consider the noise... Got low noise one but rpm lower.
  10. I have a big LR and it is bare, not even coraline on it. You guys think I can buy a small star polyps and place near it?? Which star polyps exactly should I buy??? Also when star polyps grow on glass, can it be scrape off and place on some LR or something??
  11. Pianz; That will need a lot of LED....
  12. Waste of time doing that and also money. Normally we just extract the juice. Best is to buy garlic extract from LFS. approx 15 SGD. My last for 2 years still not finish...
  13. Careful when you say bloom.... This is a coral that will bloom today, melt away the next day. That why it is tough to keep, it will not tell you why....
  14. It is not usually scratch proof, over time it will lost it clarity....
  15. LED??? How you gonna get the spectrum of lights right???
  16. My problem now is a suitable lights w/o hood... Tough hunting for it...
  17. I just can't help thinking where did the depleting coral at Tioman, Bali etc goes. It is bcos of tourist polution or us??? All I see is coral chips...
  18. Took a closer look at reborn, yup they rescape the tank, less now. Confirm it is star polys..
  19. Bro; I kept before Bicolor, nvr have any fighting with any fishes unless disturbed. You have problems with bicolor before? What kinda of problem??
  20. I see the instruction but dun say much.
  21. Bros and Sis; I had enuf of these Clown fishes and demsel. I'm going to remove all LR/coral and do a major fish replacement. Add my 2 clowns in QT to main tank and every fishes participate in fighting except my algae blenny. One clown already go hospital... (my QT) with swollen eyes. Thats my original clown in the main tank. Spend whole day catching him. The others are still fighting, eveyone injured but kicking except 4 stripe and yellow tail. Mine is a 30G, I need to study what fishes can live in harmony in this small tank. Thinking of this combination: 1. Algae Blenny x 1 (current one) 2. Blue Tang (small ones) x 2 3. Bicolor Pseudochromis x 1 4. Yellow Watchman Goby x 1 5. True Percula x 2 Any comments...
  22. 1. Star polyp 3. Ric 4. Yuma Dun need Alveropola, got it from Bro IanToh
  23. Those bacteria dun comes with instruction??? Once it is cycled, you dun have to add anymore actually. However you may like to add a smaller portion 1/4 of the recommended dose monthly, otherwise the whole bottle will just be wasted. End of the day, if it is really bacteria, if you add more, it will not kill the fishes. If not enuf waste, the bacteria will just balance itself (die off).
