I had some people asking where to get AF products, the sponsors here carry them, Iwarna & Madpetz.

Always nice to see your tank, bro! This is one of the tanks that inspired me to go into saltwater hobby and where I got most of the frags from...LOL

Been busy this month and the tank a bit neglected. Anyway, just saw Reefing Reality's video that featured my noob tank in Aquaforest FB. Although my tank is nothing compared to the other amazing tanks in this beautifully shot video. Watch full video here: https://web.facebook.com/Aquaforest/posts/1257026254341165 Not affiliated to Aquaforest or Reefing Reality...Just another satisfied customer.

Yeah, i did take a look at their glass skimmer & overflow when i first started saltwater tank. But it is too pricey for me haha. Besides, glass looks nice until covered by algae. Maybe i'll get another Tunze 9001. Will be aiming up towards surface to minimize sandstorm. But yeah, have to lower the water level. Thanks, at the moment flow from the return is pretty strong. Maybe get Tunze nanostream 6040

Thanks Yup, these are all not marine equipments. The reason I stick with this light due its most pleasing to my eyes. Will add another piece of actinic light to enhance the blue. No plan for keeping the rocks & sand white, will let them age or covered in algae. Thanks, I understand that. My reef tank with similar rocks covered in algae less than 2 mths. Yeah, will install wavemaker and protein skimmer soon.

Thanks everyone!

Not much things happening on this reef tank. Decided to split the FOWLR tank into own thread http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/topic/143853-nooblenny-noobie-fowlr/

After starting my very first saltwater tank 4 months ago. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/topic/143340-nooblenny-noobie-reef/ I went ahead to convert my existing freshwater planted tank into a FOWLR. The tank inhabitants will mainly be butterflyfish. I have a Longnose & a Double Saddle Butterflies in QT right now. All are existing FW equipments Tank: Custom made ADA 90F shallow 3 feet (90x30x20cm) Light: Up Aqua PRo-Z planted LED Filtration: Eheim 2213 with Seachem Purigen, Aquaforest Phosphate Minus, Aquaforest Carbon & LR rubbles Wavemaker: None Sump: None

Thanks bro! You have great FOWLR too! Yeah, both are running canisters. The canister in reef tank contains GFO & carbon, also for driving chiller. While the canister for FOWLR contains GFO, Purigen & live rock rubbles. No chiller.

Ok, bro. Will take not note of that, thanks!

Yup, true. the rocks always damp due to water travelling up to the top. Then again if its always damp, then the organism won't die off? Haha, anyway will find out later, if turn black will remove all the exposed part.
-
Yup bro. Base rocks are just dead/dry aragonite rocks. Thats what i understand from reading around also. As long as no organism to start off, it will remain inert & nothing will happen. The water is still temporary tap water, hence filled to the brim. Only going to start cycling once i syphoon away most of the dust.
-
Thanks both bro Darren & Mike for the advice. I read that only live rock will go decay & turned black if dried off due to microorganism die off. If dead/dry rock then there is nothing there to start with. At this moment my dry rocks and have not touched any saltwater. They are only dipped in tap water. But i will monitor them once the saltwater started in case they still go bad.

Thanks Davissim Thanks bro! Got the inspiration around the forums, including yours also. Anwyay will keep using all existing FW equipments. Only next year than do a proper marine setup. Most likely butterflyfish & dwarf angelfish.

FOWLR Aquascaping done..I think this should do for now. Love working with base rocks cause they interlock so securely, no need glue or epoxy at all. Flll it up with plain water for a few days first to wash away the dust.
-
Thanks bro! appreciate the feedback. Guess I'm bored of my all-green planted tank...now going full spectrum. Thanks again bro!
-
Thanks, should be able to. With the right combination of tank lighting that have each channels adjusted individually & the correct white balance on hp/camera should bring out the colors nicely Thanks teck4300

Oh, thanks for the tip. Will try to look for the goldpods. Hopefully you can get good result with AF

Hopefully can built an amazing tank like yours one day BTW, what did you feed your copperband? I tried two different copperbands but both wasted away to death. Tried feeding mysis shrimp, clam, cockle, all no luck

Latest progress of the tank, taken with Note 5. Rearranged the gonio. Didn't expect it to grow that fast. Also having a bit of hair algae & cyano issue now...

You can check here, bro. http://deaquatic.com/product/south-sea-base-rock/

Just finished breaking the big rocks into smaller chunks for more flexible aquascaping. These are the same Caribsea South Sea Base Rocks I'm using in my 2ft reef tank.
