Hi Mr Crabs, Don't be too discouraged by the comments. Most bros here are nice reefers who tend to get tongue-in-cheek sometimes. No serious harm meant, just a little humour at your expense. Asking for free things is quite unusual, especially when most pple care more for their face than their love of the hobby. I quite applaud you in this thread. How about you look at Jem's posts? He comes across as a very courteous 16 year old. Being 'Diplomatic' is something that comes with experience and need to be learnt. But I can assure you if you can master this skill.... you will get more favours out of others and your life will be much easier. This is a difficult and expensive hobby, but end of day, to see your tank so nice and fishes so happy is quite an ectasy in itself.

Hey... your link is good! I found the id on this thing..... Here's the mystery guest... A write-up on it: 'I have some sort of critter that is crawling on my glass/rock. It is has an outer shell that is seperated into several segments rather like an armadillo. It is approximately 1" long and moves very slowly across the glass leaving a trail in the algae there. What is this? This sounds like a chiton. They are molluscs that graze on film algae. A nice addition to a reef tank. John Rice has a page with a few more pictures of his chiton here. Hi all! I found this leech-like looking flat thing stuck to my tank wall, about 1.5 cm in length... when i tried to pull it off, i found it to have a hard shell and somewhat vacuumed stuck to the wall. You guys ever seen one of this thing before? Just wondering if it is a parasite. Looks like something I might have seen fossilised in rock..... primitive creature... My bro has my cam now at sch.... will dry it out and take a pic on sat.

i dun have hair algae, but brown algae (cyano?) does grow on the glass. Have to clean it on a daily basis otherwise the glass not clear. I did spot a tuff of hair algae a long time ago, but think my yellow tang ate it up because it suddenly disappeared. I read that phosphate contributes to algae growth and currently there is about 1/2 Lt of rowaphos in my 3ft by 2ft by 2.5ft tank in a filter bag, not running any FR. Tank is about 1.5 years old.

Hi all. I have a squamosa clam for about a year already. All this time, it was faithfully attached to a LR at an inclination of about 45 degrees. Yesterday, it suddenly dislodged and i placed it back to its original location. No damage to its mantle, foot, anything... but I am wondering, is it uncomfortable with the original position (due to the steepness of the LR) that it detached itself? Should I look for a new position for it? It has grown about half inch in this year, and I would like make him as comfortable as it can get. You guys got this problem? Hope you can share..... Thanks!
