  1. It will usually show signs of brown slime algae on the 4th day. By 6th day it should get more noticeable. SM recommend that the screen be cleaned after 7 days regardless of the amount of algae. BTW, he also recommend leaving the lights on 24/7 for the first week. Hope you are doing that already:)
  2. Hi SM, Can you direct me to somewhere that i can have an idea of how good growth should look like in their various stages? I understand that the Turf is the desired growth but that will also take a while to develop. After a month, i am having lots of brown(nearer the edges of the screen) and light green(center of screen) slime algae. I clean this screen every 5 days. I note that there are more dark green algae between the screen grooves each time i clean the screen. This green algae is tougher and harder to clean and i leave them there. thank you. cheers and have a good day! Kevin
  3. skimmer sold and collected. Thread closed.
  4. Hi guys, I have a used NAC3.5 for sale. defect: impeller shaft (the white ceramic rod inside that holds the impeller in place) is broken. You will have to buy a replacement either from iwarna, Jireh or Dr Evil. The replacement will cost you $15. Selling price: $30 (fixed) sms/call 81000833 to deal at bt panjang(evenings) or winsland house(daytime). Winsland house is behind Orchard Central. Rgds, Kevin
  5. This is the issue i highlighted when i share about my In sump ATS. A wider and shorter screen design requires a much larger pump to drive. This is non efficient and adds lots of heat and not mentioning taking up precious estate in our tiny sumps. I have actually taken the trouble to bring my sump back to the glass maker to have it corrected despite the inconvenience as i recognized that the heat and space issue is long term and a bigger issue that the inconvenience of correcting the flawed design. Seriously, for those with nano and tiny sumps, please consider using the in built ATS as an option. I have been using it with great success. If you are the lazy type, you can even just measure the sump and get the glass maker to cut a piece of glass for you. Then u drain the water from ur sump and then silicon the glass yourself and allowing it to cure for 1 day before you use the sump again. This is a much cheaper option and it works great.
  6. My apologies. Due to change in project. I have to give up this equipment. It is now available for sale again. The BT01 is in very good condition. New buyer has a choice to collect from Yishun, bt panjang or winsland house(behind orchard central). Thank you.
  7. screen will be the same as SM model. the kind that you get from Art Friends. Dont know how to tell you. But if you research enough, most of the reefers use the same.
  8. Forgot to mention that i used plastic cloth pegs to hold the screen in place when i could not find anything else. Now i use the clear plastic pegs that you will find when you unpack shirts bought from G2000. They have this u-shape pegs. Clear plastic and slim version. Nice stuff.
  9. Pros: 1)no bulky setups 2)easy maintenance 3)no splash or choking incidences 4)no expensive lights to replace regularly, I use PAr 38 and it works beautifully. Holder from Madpetz. The very adjustable kind. 5)cost of implementation is cheap. All equipment usable even if i decide not to run an ATS in future. All i sacrifice is one inch width from my sump. Cons: 1)may be insufficient for larger tanks as a sole source of filtration and you need pristine water condition for your livestock. This is due to the sump height and width restriction. As this is a one sided screen, you have to work the maths and see if your sump has the height and width to build a ATS according to the minimum requirement. SM has the calculations and you should make close reference to it. If you have a deep and tall cabinet, then it will not be an issue. This is the only Con i can think off. My experience: When building my ATS, i started with a wide ATS instead of tall one. This will work too but it is not energy efficient. For the same water velocity to run over a wider screen, i need a more powerful pump . This will result in more heat and electricity. So i brought my sump back to the tank maker and have him construct a taller and narrower ATS. Now i can buy a pump that is 2 models down. The price difference is$100 for the pump and not to mention the electricity to be saved. so guys, do learn from my mistake when you are working out the effective area for your in built ATS. cheers!
  10. I have recently rebuilt my sump and incorporated this ATS in my sump. It works like a charm and take up very little space. In fact you only need a one inch chamber for this to work perfectly. For those that would like to combine ATS with skimmers, this might be a good option. In Sump ATS Link *scroll down almost three quarter of the page and you will see 2 pictures with a blue pipe in the middle. That is the ATS i am talking about. The blue pipe is actually for a pump to push water back to the column to achieve the desirable water flow over the ATS.
  11. actually the price in GO is dirt cheap in my opinion. I see people trading small frags of it and selling it at premium. If You buy from GO and chop into small pieces you can make at least 4 times the amount you pay for the Zoa.
  12. erm best if u can check out the price at LCK and revise accordingly. hope that explains why there is little or no response. Now the market flooded with supersuns.
  13. I have a 20gal nano(including sump volume). My screen is 7x7cm. The flow i am putting into this is 1000l/hr. Light is a par38 LED 4 inches away from screen, I am hoping this will work out. It is going to be the sole source of filtration for my Large polyp NPS reef tank. I am pretty certain the flow and the screen size is good, the only factor that i am not too sure is the led light. I will observe and replace as necessary.
  14. I found a nice idea on the web that uses the sump compartment to create the waterfall effect for the ATS screen. I am sure it has been mentioned before in the 62 pages but i just want to bring it up again:). YOu can find the picture somewhere in the middle of the page. I have since rebuilt my sump to incorporate this and i will be instaling it today. ATS using sump compartment
  15. It is nice. However, most of the corals have been replaced except for the zoas. It would have been better if the original corals had grown and matured over the 2 years.
  16. I think this is like taking a big leap back to 20years ago.
  17. Hi, saw your post. Interestingly, i was researching on how i can incorporate a ATS into my nano system. Found this idea of doing it just by a simple change of sump design. A little hard to describe it but i have added the link that inspired me. You can see the picture somewhere in the middle of the web page. Pros of this design is no extra pump needed and definitely the most space saving version of ATS. I remember you have a ELOS nano. Have you upgraded? Cos the SM120 seems a little too large for a nano. I am going kelantan lane glass maker to build a new sump for this ATS project. I can Watsapp you the pic of my sump design(ATS incorporated) if you want a better idea of how it works. Just pm me for my contact. ATS LINK Cheers! Kevin
  18. You need to do a lot more water change. I dont know if carbon will help. But this is normal if you let epoxy cure underwater. If you let it cure out of water until it is hard then put back, this will not happen. It happened to me and i just change 50 percent water.
  19. I think should be Aquatic Style. Can call Leslie to enquire. I think price is around $100+. H/p: 97403747 work:68482057
  20. Revised Pricing: $65 I will have the impeller shaft replaced. Going to jireh to buy now.
  21. Hi guys, I am selling the skimmer . Price $50 1) good working condition 2) Broke the impeller shaft. I called Jireh today and they have the replacement@$15. 3) Upgrading to higher series to cope with my heavy feeding. 4) Collection most likely only after Wednesday. I am collecting my new skimmer on the same day. 5) Collect at Bukit Panjang. Night collection only. Call/sms 81000833 to trade. Thank you.
  22. Most of them look like 'fruit stalls' to me . I think the focus is more on displaying coral harmony. I was hoping someone to do a bonsai style.
  23. GO is your best bet. I have seen him bring in the exotic ones during last years Aquarama. In fact i bought one piece and he loan it from me for display for the show. But what you see in the above pictures are a combination of lighting and photography skills. Sometimes the same coral may not look much of a catch to the untrained eyes when it is lying in the LFS.
