  1. It's build in a closet behind the tank, no water exposure.
  2. Yes, maybe it works better on bigger, Nori like fish
  3. Just wanted to share a project I finished couple of months back, electric board for my 500 l marine tank. It's been working for 6 months now, and currently being upgraded to be able to monitor and control over the Internet, all equipment (aside from the sockets) bought in Singapore and assembled my me. It enables control on all tank instrumentation, actually it's a 2nd generation of a smaller one I built 2 years ago.
  4. Which net are u using?, take the big one if it can fit in, I Was able to catch 4 dominos damsel this way, don't give up
  5. Sorry for that, as I said, required some practicing, maybe different kind of food, either way good luck
  6. In addition it looks like you have an algae problem?, phosphate? nitrate?
  7. of course, it restricts water flow in, and degrades the performance
  8. all shortcuts and work arounds are failure prone, drill your display tank and install a proper overflow and piping to an in cabin sump, you'll have piece and quiet knowing your system is setup properly, it's not easy to deal with marine tank, the last thing you need is worrying about your filtration system. my 2 cents.
  9. Try to Nori thing before buying traps, with a little bit of patience and practice, you'll get your fish..
  10. You do it right, or not at all, cheap cost eventually more, go for good equipment, skimmer deltec, pumps tunze/eheim. Even second hand is much better than the Chinese junk sold in the stores..
  11. Step 1: insert the net inside the tank, try an area with no rock interference, turn off pumps so the net will not move (as it scares the fish) Step 2: lower a piece of Nori, attached to a wire you can move around (can be other type of food) Step 3: as the fish come, move the nori close to the net and grab the one you want May take several tries, but worked for me several times.. Good luck.
  12. 24W UV should not have any major impact on the temp in the tank. The consideration for serial hook up of the UV and chiller is the flow rates, chiller needs lower flow rate (~1000-1500l/h) compared to UV, especially if you keep a reef (flow should be 2-3 times higher).
  13. Does not look like ich. Was he eating?, hiding in the rocks last couple of days?, any ammonia or nitrite in the tank?, how big is your tank?, how old? maybe harassment from other fish? Give more info and maybe we can help you..
  14. Did you finish cycling your tank?, what are the ammonia and nitrite levels?, they should be 0 before you put live stock in your tank. do you have a sump filtration system? When you populate don't add more than 1 fish every 2 weeks, patience is key! The symptoms you describe above may be caused by Ammonia poisoning. Water does mean anything as the nitrifying bacteria is attached on the rocks and filter media . Good luck.
