  1. Add the LRs now... no point running the tank without the LRs. Addition of LRs will start another cycle... for 2ft tank.. try getting about 20kg of LR first... it really depends on how u want to scape. You can get cheap LRs at pasir ris farms.. should be less than $8 per kg... Lighting wise.. FOWLR doesnt really require lightings.. the lights are for yr viewing pleasure.. u can use FL but it might look a bit dim... but there's no harm to the fishes... otherwise u can go for T5 or maybe PL but since their price is almost the same now.. T5 will be better
  2. check with pasir ris farms.. their prices are quite good... CF LRs are expensive but they are really nice... one look and u will know...
  3. what LPS?? there's so many different type of LPS.. price can range from $20 to $100+
  4. formula 2 is good for tangs.... due to higher vege contents like spirulina
  5. best is to DIY a T5 set yourself... since your tank is 2.5ft.. u can use DIY a 2.5ft fixture with 2ft T5s..
  6. dun go for tempered glass.. wonder who advise u on that Read this: http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/showthre...hlight=tempered
  7. My finger got 3 cuts while washing my FR.. now dun dare to put my right hand into the tank
  8. Needlewheel pumps normally consume around 30+w.. and beckett needs 100+w to run.. just an info to u
  9. you looking for cheap pump or good pump? For cheap pump.. Atman 105-106 is good enough... for better pump.. can go for Sicce Extrema....
  10. are u talking about turboflotor 1000 or turboflotor multi sl? they are very different... i'm using the multi sl version.. quite impressive.. abt 1 inch of black skimmate every 3 days... but of course cannot be compared to beckett lah..
  11. it depends on individual system... for my case, i used 60-70 kg of cured LR (cured in an old tank for a month) and didnt experience any cycle at all. One day after adding LR, no NH4 or NO2 detected. Added a market prawn for 4-5 days.. again, no NH4 and NO2 detected.. i waited for another week before adding any LS... As suggested, best is to use a testkit..
  12. yah u r right.... from my knowledge.. only P....R is selling... if u really want euro-reef.. try getting it from overseas website lor.. might be more expensive overall.. otherwise u can usew turboflotor.. its not bad
  13. With regards to bio-balls being nitrate factory, i think there's a lot of mis-conception by a lot of reefers. Alanseah has actually explained already. The main reason why bio-balls are called nitrate factory is their inability to house anaerobic baterias which convert NO3 to nitrogen. The anaerobic bacteria in LR and sandbed cannot keep up with the amount of NO3 produced by the bacteria in the bio-balls, hence resulting in an increase in NO3. Detrituous in the bioballs will play a part but IMHO, it plays a very small part as compared to the reason i mentioned above.
  14. 1st section is normally for u to put your filter material, like filter wool or some would also put bioballs/ceramic rings/ LR/ biohomes etc. 1.5ft is a bit difficult to divide into 3 sections with enough space for both refugium and skimmer. Otherwise, u can only hang the weipro on the outside of the sump and place the pump in the sump. Refugium needs to be at least a certain surface area to be effective. If I remeber correctly, its 70% surface area of the main tank. Otherwise, no point having a refugium.
  15. Depends on how u want to make it fix on top of yr light fixture ma... acrylic can be 'folded' into most shapes... This is how mine looks like...
  16. yah using acrylic to cover will be good.. mine was like yours.. at the top also.. didnt thought of using any cover at first... but there's bound to be some splashes to the top of the lights when meddling with the tnak like feeding the corals.. so its safer to have a cover
  17. yes.. please see a doctor immediately bro.. not a joking matter... Read this: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthre...threadid=414029 This should worry u a bit... and its real...
  18. most ppl feed nori to their tangs... and its cheap.. $1 for a packet
