  2. Nothing to do... so decided to start a thread here on my tank. This tank is about 6 months old and consist mainly LPS and of course... fishes! Shall start with some photos on some of my corals Pardon the low quality pictures... no money to buy a good camera
  3. yah I agree... read a lot of articles actually recommending temp of around 27-28deg celcius...
  4. then shoudn't we not have anemones as well? Just make sure you don't have exposed pump such that they can kill themselves while crawling. Should be fine...
  5. a black sea cucumber can clean the sandbed really wall... for LRs and tank walls, can try algae blenny.. a hardworking fella
  6. Nothing to worry about... diatoms is very normal in a new tank. They will be gone once the silicates are used up... Trying using RO/DI water if u really hate them Anyway, diatoms don't cause any harm except being unsightly

  8. don't think its 6 months lah.. think he mistaken... my younger bro just POP yesterday... the length of BMT still the same.... 10weeks for PES A,B with NAPFA gold/silver 16 weeks for NAPFA fail and slight obese... not sure abt the rest... but wont reach 6 months la
  9. so how much are the acros? dun keep us in suspense! A nice tank in the making...
  10. I'm currently using it too... good for supplementing trace supplements but don't depend on it to maintain your calcium and kh as they drop too much for sealab 28 to maintain. Sealab 28 will 'sizzle' to replace trace elements when they are low.. and stop when everything is balanced. I know someone who depend on sealab28 to replace trace elements as he don't change water very often. Something like once every 6months or 1 year.
  11. Catch them in th middle of the night a few hours after lights are completely off. Normally, the fish will be very blur.. just like us waking up at 3am by someone.. Just switch on the lights and it will be very shock and blur.. very easy to catch... I caught my YT this way... Otherwise get a trap...
  12. don't think the sump will dry out in a week... unless your sump is very very small... what u can do is to switch off the fan which will very much decrease the evaporation rate. Whatrs the temperature of your tank with the lights on without the fan? If its too high.. maybe just switch on the lights for 4hrs or so... and also drip as much water as you can.... I think thats the best u can do other then having a tubby or someone to top up water for u
  13. i thought sponge doesn't depend on light for food? filter feeders?
  14. ok.. then we shan't advise u further...
  15. yah maybe?? Been asking around for quite some time already The shop assistants all said that got some problems with the supplier... so most prob the epsom salts u guys bought were the leftovers...
  16. by using the return this way.. the flowrate might be too fast for your chiller... on the other hand, if u use a lower flowrate pump to suit the chiller, the turnover rate for your tank is too low.. therefore not suitable to use a return pump straight to chiller then to tank
  17. yup.. a very cheap way to raise up your magnesium level especially when its extremely low... by the way.. i have been looking for epsom salt for a long time.. all pharmacies seem to have run out of them.. anyone knows if they are still available anywhere?
  18. as mentioned... try to put the chiller outside. Otherwise, your chiller will overwork and waste more electricity. It will also cause your chiller to break down faster. The only way to put the chiller in the cabinet is to provide lots of ventilation.
