  1. Call the newpaper to cover the story and win yourself a handphone
  2. oh i misunderstood you... everyone thinks the same way as you.. and yes its a venturi... requires a whopping 2200gallon/hour pump for the smallest model!
  3. Some reviews have already been done at arofantics.com .... the link is here: http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153030
  4. i agree with blueheaven, seems like u got some new views on reefkeeping. It might not be wrong though. Maybe u can write an article on it and let we/rest of the world comment on it. Maybe those scientists will do some tests on your views and may prove us all wrong about your views..... From my readings on articles and other forums, i have to agree with terryansimon on most of the theories and i must say it is on theory only.... maybe some experimental results can prove us all wrong
  5. just a word of caution.. dymax t5 are not HO.. not really enough for LPS... try to put yr brain higher up... the brain will take some time to get used to the water... try feeding it with market prawn will help...
  6. I really hoped u have upgrade your lights from FL to AT LEAST a PL... no way the brain going to do well in FL
  7. yeah i agree... for that kind of load.. H&S 2001 model would suffice
  8. as Tineng had suggested.. depends on your stocking level.... maybe u can advise what u want to keep? Also.. beckett's electricity consumption is as much as 3-4times that of a H&S.. are u willing to pay about $10 extra monthly...
  9. Its true that coral chips will become nitrate factories over time but not NO2 though... the reason being corals chips do not have anaerobic region for de-nitrifying bacteria to survive. Hence the corals chips can only break down NH4 to NO2 and then down to NO3 and stops there.. hence NO3 will increase... detritus is also another reason causing NO3 to increase. IMHO, i think its good to have another form of biological filtration is the sump so as to decrease the chances of a tank crash to the minimum. Even when a few fish die, there is enough bacterias in the corals chips/bio-balls etc to break down the dangerous NH4 and NO2. Its true that LRs will serve the same purpose, but there's only this amt of BB that the LRs can house and chances of a tank crash is definitely higher than that of a tank which uses biological filtration. I also think filter floss is important as it traps the detritus.. otherwise where will the detritus goes? Back to the main tank or settle down to the bottom on the sump. Hence its the same problem of detritus. But as mentioned, need to change to filter floss regularly. Personally, I'm slowly replacing my bio-balls with bio-home as bio-home has anaerobic regions to house de-nitrifying bacteria which bio-balls doesn't have. Not sure how effective it will be as its still in the process of replacement
  10. Don't kill the damsel please... another live we are talking about... can just give it to reefers who have damels tank or give it back to the LFS.. better than flushing it into the toilet
  11. this looks familiar... too bad my camera cant take macro shot..
  12. That means your chinese lousy and your ang moh good lor.. good at crapping...
  13. mine on on 24hrs.. except after washing the collection cup, i will dose phyto and leave the skimmer off for 6-8hrs... twice a week
  14. Agree with you about the gary neville part... he's the worst performer in the team.. always making mistakes Actually, u cant just condemn AF.. isnt Arsene Wenger the same? He has been complaining about the lost till wed/thurs... can't he just move on? But the fact that most managers are like that.. they will just blame everything but themselves. Ferguson is not the only one... What I want to say is.. all these arguments will be never-ending.. wenger isn't an angel either? he can 'spot' opponents 'diving' , bringing down his own players in the penalty box but could never ever spot his players 'diving' or making a terrible challenge. His answer is normally very standard 'I didn't see the incident' He also didn't see what happen in the tunnel as well Basically he can't see anything that his players has done.. but thats very normal, he's just trying to protect his players... and his players will respect him.
  15. does anyone have any success with it? reduce form say 50ppm all the way down to 5 or less?
  16. Actually you are right... using clear solution is definitely very wasteful and the only drawback as u have mentioned is the pH swing.. maybe i shall try your method
  17. oh.. i misunderstood your question.. i normally pour away the residue and mix a new batch again.. read about it in one of the issues of reefkeeping.com..
  18. stil have to spend on lights, addictives, chiller etc
  19. u gotta drip the clear solution... then after dripping, pour away the rest of the residue and mix again
  20. No need to bribe Murphy lah.. unless he decides to strike ALL your nannies.. the chances is so low that it means that he dun really like u a lot
