  1. Read an article by D.Knop awhile ago, saying that Phillipinos will eat clams everywhere, and the clams are always there for food in the market, but when one wants to take a clam with him out of the Phillipines......
  2. Chevron is one of the toughest tangs you can get, while AT is one of the most delicate. Cant even compare.
  3. WOOW 3? Well this is about the ONLY rare fish I dont see here. How about a Clarion X Passer? Maculosus X Koran
  4. be more proffessional This way they get more money for what they collect and ruin less reefs.
  5. If 50% is dying before transporting to exporters they are careless unproffessional divers/collectors and should go and look for another job or just sit at home and watch the news.
  6. Indonesia is the world's largest coral exporters. But it's all done legally (or should) , with a Cites permits. All the exporters there have a quota , which is going down every year. On the other hand there are also exporters that are smuggling stuff out without Cites, so the corals and qtty is not recorded anywhere. There is alot of Aquacultured stuff coming from Bali and from Fiji as well as Marshall islands and other places, but the market is growing faster and the demand is bigger than what the aquaculture industry is even close to produce. As you said we are part of it and we can help. We should get good equipment, good tank, good knowledge, like this we will kill less corals. We should also should exchange frags, if your tank is good a frag will grow to a colony, in many of the SPS species, in one year.
  7. About Ulva, If you take a good piece which is not rotting it will grow and grow fast. It will also start taking over your tank ( even in cases you're putting in the fuge), use this algae only in case you have fish like Tangs that will graze on whatever growing in the tank, while the Ulva in the fuge will lower your nutrient levels. A better solution is the chaetomorpha this is the ultimate algae for the fuge. I also like the Gracilleria, which is good do not require lots of light and when you have too much in your fuge just throw it in for the Tangs they love it.
  8. It's a pretty good algae , but you should use it in a fuge to protect it from fish. There are better algae though, but Ulva's good.
  9. Piglet you got a point. Chefri, did u plan to harvest from S'pore waters?
  10. Marinebetta HK is the best place on earth for fish. You can get almost anything in the most competetive price. I know for a fact that many of the retail prices running in this street are lower than US wholsale prices!!! They are working on a very low margain, and based on a huge turn over, and I mean HUGE. The main importers there gets 1 to 3 shipments a DAY. For Clams there was no much variety, I know that shop that ya've been, he's quite strong at Croceas, he has 2 tanks full of them most times of the year, and a display tank with XL croceas. In front of him there a dude that is strong in Maximas, but he didnt have clams for quite sometime now. When he do gets them, he have some really cool Ultra Maximas. Other people gets some Squamies and some Max from time to time. But really, nothing beats the variety of fish, when the season is on, I'm going there at least once a day to keep updated. I'm on a mission to get a Gem Tang, Hotumatua Angel and some Aussie Fairy wrasse which is off topic, but if we get back to topic, cool Clams are always welcome
  11. Sorry, was away for few days. Dont worry. If they have such clams and I can get some, I'll get my friend in Singapore to help me and issue a Cites permit. It'll cost me more, but in case of some clams, deviding the cost of the Cites on few Clams will help. Please keep me updated. And please let me know if you'll have time to roam around S'pore for a Clam hunt (and maybe interrutus hunt ) Take care.
  12. Dispar, Pls update me about those ones as well I can get large specimens easily, but I want 6 to 7 cm specimens.
  13. Tuest me. I'm serious. If there's a good oppurtunity to get a super Clam, I'm there. HK-SG is not a long flight anyways. Problem is how to take live Clams out of Changi. But first let me have da clams, then I'll think about the problems. Any info???
  14. Cool, when is this shipment arriving? I might visit S'pore end of October. But in case of Blue Squamies like the pic, I can come any time.
  15. 9 clams?? Is he importing 9 pcs? or is he buying locally? I cany get the hype about gigas, it aint so nice and it'll outgrow your tank anyways.
  16. Put the legal thing aside. The info in Live Aquaria is very basic, very very basic. Not suitable for a book IMO.
  17. Fish will like whatever they are used to, it does'nt mean to say it's good for them. Sometimes it'll be difficult to switch from a low quality food to a better quality food, cause the fish might refuse it. For example, Tangs that got used to eat lettuce for years, you might have difficult time to get them eat Sea Veggies, even though it's a fact that the Sea Veggies are 10 times better for them.
  18. Two Little Fishies is a must for tangs. Then choose another food to supplement it. I'd go with New Life Spectrum, but if you have tangs only, then Two Little Fishies mixed Sea Veggies should be the base.
  19. Hey Dispar! What up? How about those interruptus? How much are they in S'pore? They should be cheaper in S'pore than in the states , as the freight charge should be cheaper. Can ya get there small specimens????
  20. Ooopps , forgot one of the best, especially if ya guys keep Tangs, it is not pellet food though, but still a must , Two Little Fishies Sea Veggies, flakes mix. Really good results with this one.
  21. Hi I tried most of the dry food out there. So far: New Life Spectrum is the Ultimate. Both pellets and flakes, it's just kicks ######, color and mass. HBH is good, I like their Marine green. Ocean Nutrition is OK. Cyclopeeze is cool, but fish have to get use to it. I'm trying now a new food, from Japan called DEL, extremly expensive, but the LFS owner said it's even better that Spectrum, so I had to give it a try. Too early to comment, but I feed one of my tank almost exclusively on that stuff and I wait if I can see any changes.
  22. I dont know many exporters in the world who have a 300pcs min. order. However, if this guy can bring this Clam I'm ready to buy few pcs , and fly to S'pore for that. Pls keep me updated. Thanks.
  23. CoralFarm? They got a state of the art system. One of the best in the world. I was quite amazed when I visit to see all this TMC equipment. Look at the fish really arefully, if it's clean and eating and it's the same fish they were holding for 1 month, I'd put it straight in.
