  1. noticed you have a couple of sea fans, can share how you take care of them? do you dose plankton or filter feeding foods to sustain them?
  2. Yes such algae setups will deplete available nutrients to a varying degree. For soft corals, such as Xenia, it helps that there are some nutrients available for them as another form of nourishment. Most times such LPS tanks have some nitrates & phosphates. actually running either one, either chaeto or ATS would be sufficient assuming ur bioload is low, with good husbandry such as wc, etc
  3. Thanks for sharing, glad to know no major casualties or disasters. Agree electrical management is extremely important for us as we run so many gadgets. So how do we mitigate repeats? Split the appliances into different wall sockets which feed several power bars, so that the total amperage doesn’t exceed safety limits, I guess?
  4. Hi Leon, how is the red gorgonian with the white polyps? Managed to ID it as a photosynthetic species?
  5. Was it exposed to air during the purchase process or when you transferred it into your tank? They shouldn’t be exposed to air as air will get trapped in its body cavity, & that can kill the sponge
  6. Nice, are these iridescent under blue lights? Could be from the dictyota genus

  10. Different strokes for differents folks, that’s the beauty of reefing. There’s no one proven method that shall work for every single system because each system is different. at the end of the day, it’s all about export, which can be achieved by a multitude of ways

  16. Amazing.... so colorful! Nice gradual downslope too which looks really natural! Great job with the scaping & color placement too. have a front FTS?
  17. Wow that orange Mille is so bright!! Excellent coloration
  18. Would advise against plucking, like you said, that could harm the zoa. From your pic, it seems like there’s a space between the frag plug & zoas, you can try to slit a penknife underneath & try to wedge it up. Try not to damage the zoas in the process. If you have to cut into tissue, cut as close as to the frag plug as possible so that you don’t damage the stolon or zoas polyp. Also, if you just got the frag today, suggest to frag it after a day or two after it has settled in your tank
  19. Zoas don’t need target feeding, the waste generated by the rest of your livestock would provide nutrients
  20. Looks like magician zoas. Care levels typical of zoas - abit of nutrients will be beneficial
  21. Looks like a goniopora
  22. Wow the dozing pump is really compact! Is this a newer model after the kamoer x4? you mentioned that you can control the dosing pump via WiFi, meaning that you can remotely control it when you are outside, ie. Traveling overseas?
