  1. Oh no.. hope your tanks & livestock were not too badly affected by the power outage!
  2. Make & model, capacity, plumbing setup. I’m thinking of doing a hang-on fuge & what you are using seems like a viable option.
  3. Nice setup! Can share more details about the hang-off compartment on the right?
  4. Definitely not a bad thing, they filter feed & tend to proliferate when nutrient levels are higher. In any case, they don’t sting coral & are considered beneficial microfauna, also considered a sign of a maturing tank!
  5. Very nice that the gonios are opening up & they look happy ! Other than a wc, did you change the lighting or flow on the gonio to make it open so nicely?
  6. Does it come off when you use a turkey baster to blow at it? If it comes off as sheets or pieces, it’s probably cyano
  7. Have another frag to let go at $30! Hope to clear by this weekend.. pls PM me if keen!
  8. Nice nice! The last time I saw it when at your place, it was still encrusting across the flat rock. Really cool that it’s starting to grow heads now
  9. Have one frag of Miami vice to clear from my sandbed. The frag has 9 heads in total, going for $30. collection at Buona vista, pls PM if interested
  10. I feel that be it crushed corals, or commercial filter media such as marinepure, siporax, etc can also have the potential to trap detritus. The one important thing to do is to have tank water flowing thru filter wool upstream of your filter media, to reduce detritus buildup
  11. If it throws up & retracts a slime line, it could be a vermetid snail. They usually attach themselves to a hard surface though. Can you see any tube-like structure on the underside of the toadstool?
  12. Amazing tank!! There’s life at every available surface area & corner! Great job fitting everything in there btw how often do you need to trim your corals? With the tighter space do they tend to grow into each other relatively quickly?
  13. Hi, I would go for Salifert for ease of use, test results are relatively straightforward to read. Accuracy is also something I think Salifert is known for. Not sure about how on point those all-in-one test kits are, maybe others who have used them can chime in
  14. Could just be algae growing on dead skeleton. Can just snip it too otherwise it’s hard for the tissue to encrust back over. also, best to remove the rubber band as soon as possible & glue it down so that the tissue that’s being covered by the rubber band doesn’t die off
  15. Welcome! Definitely set up a tank if you can, the results can be very rewarding.. IMO, go for larger tank to maximize your water volume. If space allows it, the bigger the better. This is for the reason of water stability where larger volumes are less sensitive to fluctuations around temperature, salinity, & other water parameters. With stable parameters, the reef has a higher chance of thriving
  16. Very nice DIY Leon, the Duncan’s stand is virtually invisible!
  17. Have the following frags to let go. Collection at Buona vista area, pls PM if interested Green paly mini colony: $10 Stylophora frag: $5 mother colony Rainbow stylophora frag: $40 mother colony Sunny D frag(7-8polyps): $30
  18. noticed you have a couple of sea fans, can share how you take care of them? do you dose plankton or filter feeding foods to sustain them?
  19. Yes such algae setups will deplete available nutrients to a varying degree. For soft corals, such as Xenia, it helps that there are some nutrients available for them as another form of nourishment. Most times such LPS tanks have some nitrates & phosphates. actually running either one, either chaeto or ATS would be sufficient assuming ur bioload is low, with good husbandry such as wc, etc
