Hi there, any updates to your tank?
-
Amazing! So far the best marine planted aquarium I’ve seen to date! & that gigantic orange sponge is really impressive!! How do you sustain it? Via feeding or just photosynthesis? nice scaping of your macros too, that giant ochtodes rock is something which we don’t see everyday

Hi guys, clearing zoas off my sandbed. Collection at Buona Vista area, pls PM if interested, thanks! red PPE mini-colony. 20+ heads $25 LA lakers. About 10heads. $25 kedd reds. About 10heads. $15

Wow that RBM colony promises to be a showstopper in due time!!

Could be possible ich attack.. ich is opportunistic, dormant but manifests itself when the fish’s immune system is lower. They tend to be able to fight it off on their own provided they are not stressed & eating well. So as fuzzlesc mentioned above, have them continue eating & monitor water quality. Small water changes can help, not big ones as that would stress your fishes out further. Hope this helps.. Good luck!

Is something blocking the outlet or inlet? One thing is do is check the pump to ensure is running fine. If the vibration continues, can place some kind of vibration damping pad or cloth between the DT & HOF contact surfaces

Sorry for the loss of that acro colony, good to know the rest are ok. 10days is quite a long time though, & we reefers know that so much can go wrong in a blink of an eye: electrical outage, equipment failing, etc can share what you did to fail-safe your tank for these 10days? Did you get a tank-sitter?
-
Sorry for your losses. I always thought that you were running a nice nano tank. It’s interesting to read that LEDs directly contributed to your SPS dying because they weren’t strong enough. Could you share your light settings?

Tuxedo urchins are known to attach small items such as rubble or frags, or in your case loose zoas on their backs. Probably as a form of camouflage. It will hold on to it as long as it likes. You can try to slowly pry the zoas loose using a satay stick, but be gentle so as to not injure the urchin & yes they are reef safe hope this helps!

Help with ID of this pest (?)
JMW replied to PaulPaul01's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
It looks like a vermetid snail. Can scrape it off, the hard surface is its shell. These drop out slime trails into the water that can irritate corals -
Help! PM me on aiptasia outbreak
JMW replied to Alexy7's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
Yea agree with the bros who have commented above; the sheer volume of Aiptasia would make natural predation or manual intervention an uphill battle. It’s a numbers game, & plus a whole new anemone can regrow from a new fragment. My approach would be to remove the rock, soak in vinegar, then bleach. This guarantees 100% removal of the aiptasia on this rock. Just note that the bleach & vinegar must be done separately, not together as together they generate gases that are dangerous for our respiratory system!! -
am looking for small frag of valida/bonsai frag. Preferably 1-2” multibranch shape pls PM if you have one to let go
-
Thanks for sharing. It’s an interesting setup & I would agree that you may find long-term success by stocking your tank with livestock that are more adaptable or originate from warmer waters
-
Hi nice setup, how do you keep your tank temperature low without a chiller? Do you use a cooling fan?
-
Do they sell gooseneck holders?
-
Hi guys, wanna clear frags off my sandbed. Frag has around 10 heads. These give off a bright red glow under actinics letting go for $15.. Deal at Buona Vista area. Pls PM is interested.

Really nice guys any tips on how you all prevent chaeto bits from getting to the return pump compartment?
-
Nice, any mechanical filters in your IOS area?
-
Any pics of the actual frags?
-
Good price
-
It’s an alveopora
-
Very nice!! Those cable organizers are so neat man.. also, can share some pictures of the webcam? Is the resolution clear? Been looking for one reliable one which provides clear images

From the pictures, I think what’s good about this setup is: should the pump malfunction, the supply to this tank will stop, & therefore there is no chance of overflow. The only risk(albeit minimal) would be if the tank’s return flow outlet is blocked or clogged, the pump will continue to draw water into the tank & eventually it will fill up & overflow on the sides. Is that how it works?

Looks like plating coralline algae. It should be hard(ie.not macroalge), but also note that it’s quite brittle. I accidentally broke mine bumping into it & was bumped out as they can form beautiful shapes & structures once established. Google it to see if it looks similar to what you have. If so, it’s a good sign of a maturing tank
