  1. Was at polyart. They have several 3-5" clams available. The pricing benefits those who buy more clams. I only have space for one. Anyone interested to buy together? PM me for details.
  2. That's what I'm doing too haha... Go to mama shop buy elephant glue, 2 tubes for less than $2. As long as it says cyanoacrylate on the packing, I'm good to go Some people will prefer coral glue, etc... Well, whatever rocks your boat haha yes, the clear type is very hard to work with because it's so runny. try to use the gel ones which will make working less of a mess. I've involuntarily glued myself to live rock before lol
  3. Wow amazing! One of the nicest setups I have seen.... Haven't seen the vid but I'm sure with the flow all your corals will be swaying hypnotically in the current.. Absolute de-stresser!!!
  4. thanks guys for the quick replies.... btw not too pricey I suppose?
  5. Hi, know where I can get those long plastic tweezer? Also, what is their price range?
  6. Bump! Anyone interested?
  7. you have better pic of the crab? Can't tell if it's a hairy crab. I'd avoid those.
  8. Cool! Does the viewer come with some degree of magnification?
  9. Yup the ammonia spoke is most prob from something that has died inside the new LR? You can ID which are the new rocks right? One way to cfm which LR is the problematic one, can try the smell test as long as it stinks & doesn't smell like the sea, that salty smell, means there's something inside causing your ammonia spike. otherwise, just leave it in there & dose bacteria? But the concern is that you already have livestock which won't be happy with the ammonia....personally I would remove that bad LR & not let cause more mess. pistol shrimp I don't think will disturb coral, but I have not had one so maybe some of the other forumers here can help advise too
  10. hmm how come there's ammonia spike? Thought you using LR from your existing tank? Btw, that looks like a pistol shrimp? It has only one big pincer right?
  11. I see, I think they are really nice but heard that they can be hard to maintain as they get their nutrition primarily from constant food in the water column, & are not photosynthetic.. but looks like you are doing a great job with them!
  12. Hi, looking for above frag. Deal in west. Pls PM if available thanks!
  13. After I bought it & used it a few times, realized that my tank's phos levels & API's readings are not giving me the results I was hoping for, thus letting it go to another reefer who might find it more suitable for their own use
  14. Bought in Aug this year, used 5 times. My guess is its market value is about $20 now. Looking to trade for SPS or zoa frags, test kit for Calcium/KH. Deal in west, PM if interested. Thanks.
  15. What's the high cost due to? - replacement of livestock? - dosing chemicals or changing media to maintain water quality? - electricity to run the system? more details, & pics like the other bros have suggested earlier, will help you to get more response to your current situation.
  16. OMG!!! Looks amazing! The rocks & their shapes are super natural looking... can't wait for your tank to get filled up!
  17. Nice look to your tank! Yup get more CUC, hermits, astreas Btw what are you feeding your sea fans?
  18. Thanks Harlequinmania, well I guess if what they are really doing is pick off unhealthy zoas then that's not so bad, versus leaving them to languish. just really hope they are not harming the healthy ones or new baby zoas. Hope I don't need to get rid of them as I don't have space to add a six line or mandarin so natural predation is an option I can't use.
  19. Nice plan! All the best, camping here for your tank updates!
  20. Hi reefers, for those of you who keep zoas, have you guys ever experienced them being eaten/injured by amphipods? At night when I bring a light to the tank, I see the pods running around the LR, but I do also notice some of them on the zoas.... Did some googling too, mixed responses. Some say the pods are just eating microfilms of algae, detritus on the zoas surface, some say the pods can indeed eat the zoas polyps or baby zoas.. so am really hoping to get some local perspective here, do you guys have any zoas & amphipods encounters to share? Thanks in advance!
  21. Thanks, fully agree on full cure before putting back in tank. Read before that the glue sets upon contact with water? Guess this varies... To be very sure, I swirl the glued piece in a container of tank water before putting back into DT
  22. Will chaeto bits get sucked into the pump if they are both housed in the same compartment? Unless you are putting the chaeto in a bag or something? btwn skimmer & pump compartment can consider filter floss in between in the event of microbubbles
  23. Cool! Your estimation quite good haha. btw the top up exercise might take longer & require more water cos over these 3wks you will losing water due to evaporation too?
  24. use this all the time. No issue. The other alternative is reef epoxy. I don't think it's really required if you are just gluing down frags.
