  1. Welcome! Nice, look you managed to remove your hitchhikers with the freshwater dip. Agree with bro xeneryx, conider investing in a skimmer, especially when you are using tap water for your top-ups & wc Btw, great look to your tank too, looks very slick & polished! Camping here for updates
  2. hmmm shouldn't stink, do you run a skimmer? Sounds like excess nutrients
  3. Hi, saw this on my LR.. It moves around the LR, doesn't stay in one spot. It's green tentacles fluoresce super brightly under actinics I really hope it's not the dreaded majano anemone... Someone pls help ID!
  4. Nice right, I too have not been lucky enough to see this type on LR... Actually looks like some type of red coral, cos of the blading pattern
  5. well that worked too, good thing they stayed inside the holes without being disturbed by the other animals or got blown out by the current.. In the end no need to glue or tie or put a mesh over! Nicely done!
  6. wow thanks, looks good, this type of coralline
  7. No pic leh.. But what I tried last night was remove it from the water & air dry it. This morn it's back to normal color!! I have started soaking it in water again to see if it turns black again. Now 4 hrs already.. So far so good it's damn weird, nothing I've ever seen before. Don't know whether the cause is the bacteria dose I added
  8. Great choice bro, personally starting with DI water introduces less parameters to the whole setup, much easier to tweak or troubleshoot if needed
  9. Nice right, there's even neon green one but I have never seen it before locally.. I don't think they get as huge as the common Hawaiian types.
  10. Hi guys, got some live rock which smelled bad, so decided to cure it in a separate container.. Decided to try something new by adding some bacteria to 'speed' up the process. Next day, the rock was sitting in black water(oily scrum layer on top & man, it stank!). I did a 100% water change & even gave the rock a scrub today with toothbrush, but the rock is still black. No visible die off, no sponges, etc, the entire rock is just black, looked like it was dipped in ink... Any of you guys experienced this before?
  11. I think he want to decomm... & in the process of tearing-down, give other reefers a chance to inherit his current setup/eqmt, etc. whether the reefers need to hands-on during the process, that's btwn them to agree & work out
  12. Anyone has pics to share of such clams bought from sheng shiong? Interested to see the biodiversity possible in our tanks....
  13. Bro, I didn't manage to get it. It was however spotted at pinnacle before. Saw a yellow one at irwana before too.. I guess it's really heng suay whether the LFS happen to bring in. once spotted, must chiong over! Haha
  14. The detailed mechanics of food capture & relationship to coral growth & health I'm not sure if it's available to the hobby, maybe the experts can chime in.. but if we search around, the general consensus is as long as the coral species is photosynthetic, its zooxanthellae makes most of its food using light. Corals will, however, also 'benefit' if fed too. I see the word 'benefit' used quite abit when it comes to this topic in several online sources.. I wouldn't be surprised cos corals in the wild feed on plankton don't they? Coral food to some extent is a plankton mix. what corals are you contemplating to offer food to btw?
  15. Bro, FYI this looks like a double post.. You have a similar thread which got more replies & views.
  16. Regardless of what water is used.. The cycle is complete once you test 0 for ammonia & nitrite. but I wld personally vote ro/di water as I don't know wats in our tap water these days
  17. Yup agree, worked for me too.. ID the rock, a few min later & they start walking out
  18. Saw this at c328 today. Any of you guys using this? Hope to get some reviews... know that there's rowaphos, etc, but this seems like a gd alternative

  20. I am ok anytime, no rush. I'm only getting one. The uncle say as long as 3 & above, best price per clam
  21. Polyart. Pricing benefits those who buy more. Thinking of buying together with other reefers.. PM for details.
  22. Was at polyart. They have several 3-5" clams available. The pricing benefits those who buy more clams. I only have space for one. Anyone interested to buy together? PM me for details.
