  1. Well.. Live rock that has been out of the water could have most of its organisms dead or dying, so what you are working with could be semi-dead rock in a way. You could consider dosing bacteria to set up the beneficial bac population. Test for ammonia as the days pass
  2. Why??! It looks frozen in the first pic, did he buy it from market or something?

One of the worst thing to come home to.. RTNed frag.. RIP Mille
  4. Hey guys, noticed this on my new Mille's tips. The Mille has been in my tank for about a week.. My KH has been staying within the range of 7.3 - 8.0 for the last few days. is it burnt tips? Or any chance this is new growth tips? Can still see the polyp inside the tip btw, it's only out sometimes in the day.
  5. I'm at 70% for uv, violet, blue & dark blue 10% for red & green 36% white
  6. FYI, 40 yio chu kang road, opp the stadium

Don't know what these are but they are really tiny! Under white & blue lights under sunlight only, when lights were off
  8. I'd pay big money for a Chappie, he can help me do WC also
  9. Wow this is great! I see many redundancies worked into your system which will take care of power outages, water levels, feeding, etc.. Certainly given me one or so ideas too, on how to protect my system when traveling, thanks! Btw how about temperature - say when chiller & back-up fan also malfunction, possible to stop the lights from coming on & also possibly stopping some of the wavemakers/pumps from coming on too?
  10. interesting spread.. I use the Prime too & set my UV to be same as violet & Blues. Am wondering why your UV & green & reds are set relatively lower? Would it be beneficial for them to be higher?

Thanks, speaking of which - do you know where I can get external temperature controller?
  12. Hey, any nano tanks complete with cabinets for sale?

Thanks, yeah was checking Hailea out too, but not too sure if even their smallest model is gonna be overkill for my 10g, where it constantly kicks in as my water volume is small.. Was shortlisting the AL-30 too, seems like a good-sized chiller.
  14. Very helpful & relevant sharing here.. From what I gather, we can have remote video footage, SMS notifications, emails, etc.. But a common theme after all these things happen is that human intervention is still needed to fix or mitigate a problem? I'm curious as to whether there are 'fully-automated' fail-safes out there?

Yeah agree... Evaporation is damn annoying, sucks up my ATO water damn quickly. Am looking for chiller for my size of tank. Salinity would however be maintained even with high evaporation rate as long as the ATO quickly dispenses top up volume for volume lost thru evaporation?

Tank temperature in the day is about 29deg. I let sunlight hit the tank so it's abit high. at night is about 28deg

Thanks! My tank not ready for FTS yet.. Very messy, I want to clean up then I will post & share. you are very right; it's tough to maintain parameters in a 10g. Slight fluctuation & the system feels it. A lot of effort & daily intervention & patience is needed. I once crashed my tank when I miscalculated when dosing alk, ended up 80% of my SPS died... Anyway, alk is one of the most critical IMO. I maintain it by adding it to my ATO. I'm lucky my evaporation rate stays pretty constant so that helps maintain a constant feed of KH. Ca is dosed daily using Seachem Complete. I don't dose Mg. weekly WC to reduce nutrients & replace trace elements. temperature is maintained using fans, but lately I'm thinking of switching to chiller so that I can reduce the daily frequency of ATO.
  18. I think ATO is one of the most important, not only for salinity to remain constant, but also ensuring the correct water level for eqmt such as return pump, sump, etc, stay functional instead of drying up. if you are keeping corals, especially hard corals, KH & Ca & Mg should be automatically dosed to maintain levels for them. the rest - lighting, temperature, I assume you would already be running them on timers & do not need daily intervention or monitoring. food can be supplied via those auto feeders as mentioned by josephwzr
  19. Hi, given their voracious appetite & efficiency, they would finish the HA rather quickly? How do you sustain their food source then? Can they be fed nori?
  20. Irwana usually has good variety of snails... Otherwise Sealife at bukit merah usually have them too.. Can try calling before going dwn
  21. Hi guys, been considering a chiller as the weather is crazy these days.. My tank hits 29deg in the afternoon, am targeting maintaining temp of 28deg. is the Al-30 a good chiller for our tank volume?
  22. I thought higher flow would actually cause it to work better. can share why lower flow would make it work better?
