  1. Nano tanks can come with an integrated sump, otherwise known as IOS. An example would be the IM fusion 10, which I'm using. btw not all damsels display similar aggression levels. More docile damsels include the talbot, springeri
  2. Hi guys, another piece of 4 heads on 1" rock for $8.. Collection at buona vista PM if interested
  3. Yup the foam serves as the mechanical filter. The wool wouldn't function that much differently from the foam IMO. I think a possible reason for them placing it at the last compartment is so that it prevents any bits of debris from getting to the return pump compartment
  4. Oops my bad, I read wrongly, read as bio wool but registered as bio foam.. Personally, I'm a fan of porous media for bacteria housing, so if the wool is not able to provide more bac per square area, I would go for ceramic rings. you have any details on the wool? I'm also thinking if it could get clogged over time. Not sure until we understand more about the wool
  5. Hi welcome, my opinions below 1) I feel no need to replace, as you already have compartments of ceramic rings which essentially serve the same purpose as chips. Ceramic rings might be more porous too, making them more beneficial to house bacteria. If the wool is in the earlier compartment before your rings, they also play an important role in reducing detritus from reaching your rings. This minimIzes chance of nitrate accumulation. 2) flow is relatively ok, abit low maybe if you intend to keep SPS. But you can always add wave makers which are more effective in providing good water flow. 3) air pumps as a precautionary measure are placed higher, so that if pump stops for whatever reason, water doesn't get 'siphoned' into the pump
  6. Well I'm no expert, but I would trim the runners, don't trim the main branch attached to the live rock. As a bonus, it might grow back & branch out, growing out into a nicer shape in the future btw looks like there's some bryopsis growing too?
  7. Reserved, thanks for viewing
  8. Hi guys, another piece of 4 heads on 1" rock for $8.. Collection at buona vista PM if interested
  9. Good to see responsible reefers joining the scene.. Yes it's living things we are dealing with & we should give them the best possible artificial enviroment to ensure their survival. Starting with soft corals, some LPS, as one learns water chemistry, tank husbandry, before moving to the more demanding & sensitive SPS is recommended. Best of luck on your journey! Happy reefing!
  10. Very nice! I also see abit of space on the left for more colonies or frags
  11. Looks like diatoms to me. Give your sand a stir, you will notice the drown stuff dissipates. Coralline does not do that, it's calcareous & it doesn't grow on the sandbed
  12. Nice adjustment! It does look better now. The 'break' in between the two rockscapes really helped to create some variation visually. Creates depth too, now you have this valley thingy going on between the two rockscapes. Nice!
  13. Hey, am no expert, but this I believe is a type of montipora
  14. Ups for sale! Very good price!

    LED Panel

Great sharing, Sherman... Thanks! any thoughts on ultraviolet & red bulbs? Notice them on some LED light sets too
  16. Bro, can share your latest AI prime light setting? Your SPS colors are popping!
  17. Sounds like it might still be heavy. What's on the bottom of your cabinet? Any thing in between the cabinet & floor to reduce friction? Otherwise might scratch up your floor. During the push, I think should also push on the cabinet, not the tank glass. Should also think about the equipment inside your cabinet, I'm guessing you have a sump, piping, fuge, filtration media, etc which would add to the weight. Beneficial to go thru a leak test after the push. also suggest to secure your live rock or scape so that all that movement won't cause things to come tumbling down.. Good luck!
  18. Hi guys, another 4 heads on a 2"x2" flat rock to go for $8. PM if interested, thanks
  19. Well we learn as we go along.. That's the beauty of this hobby! Temperature & water flow would be the most impt things to monitor IMO.
  20. My 10g I don't dose kalk as I dose thru my ATO. Kalk tends to form white insoluble deposit at btm, gotta avoid letting that get into your tank.. just to share that for my 10g I dose baking soda solution in the ATO, plus separate dosing of calcium supplement
  21. Sorry to hear about the losses but really good that you figured out what was causing the corals to stress out. Considered investing in a temperature controller which can turn on a contingency fan/chiller or switch off your lights when temperatures increase?
  22. Hi, can share how you confirmed this? You did calculations or got some engineer to do it for you?
