Wow very nice scape, I especially like how the blueberry gorgonian melds so perfectly into the SPS colonies!

Hi, I encountered single aiptasias before, would suggest to rid of them now before they have a chance to spread. FYI aiptasia is tricky in the sense if manual removal is not done well & the anemone is broken up & results in small fragments drifting about, it can grow into a whole new anemone! So for my case what I did was disturb the aiptasia so that it retracted, then I superglued the hole on the rock where it was growing out from. Never saw it again

Wow nice FTS! Great coloration on your SPS too! Placement of coral is very nicely done, accentuating the colors.. canping here for more updates

Letting go of some test kits that I'm no longer using. The kits are brand new. KH - $14 Ca - $22 Mg - $24 collection at buona vista area. Pls PM if interested

Looks like new growth. Take a close look, you might be able to see at these white regions, small white polyps which confirm that the monti is growing.

Can't really tell for sure, but it might be possible that your live rock has a chalice growing on it! Lucky you if it is indeed the case -
I'm using the stock pump, but I'd recommend you upgrade to the eheim 1000 especially if the head pressure is large

Could be spaghetti worm, google to cfm

I have the 10G too & im just using one pump - return pump flows to chiller & chiller return flows to DT direct..

My guess is.. the challenge will be keeping the bacteria medium hydrated & oxgenated; be it live rock, live sand or canister filter media. This is to sustain majority of the bacteria population during the 'rent & transfer'. hydration cos bacteria once dried out will die off. oxgenation cos bacteria need to breathe too, & in our tanks they get oxygen via water flow. So if you have a viable solution for hydration, the next thing is to have the water continue circulating, which should be achievable with battery-operated power heads. however, upon reaching the new tank, I'm not sure how hardy bacteria is when it comes to acclimitizing to new water conditions. Would be interesting to hear more inputs from the rest of the community!

His tank may still be cycling in 3-3.5 months time

Hey, best to increase lighting intensity progressively, especially if using LED. This is so your SPS don't get shocked with the sudden change in light & start exhibiting stress
-
Browning of SPS is due to buildup in zooxanthellae in their tissue. Excess nutrients can cause this buildup or insufficient lighting can cause the SPS to develop more zooxanthellae from a nutrition standpoint. Its not dead. Dead is when the tissue sloughs off & exposes the white skeleton beneath.

Little ironies of SPS keeping
JMW replied to christan1959's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
Higher KH drives higher rate of calcification, so relatively higher nutrients allow coral tissue to grow at a rate which prevents tip issues. For ULNS systems, having that a high KH typically results in tip issues as the tissue growth rate doesn't match calcification rates brought about by high KH values. SPS are known to benefit from feeding, but of course with the food being added to the system, excess food should be exported before they break down into excessive nutrients & imbalance the whole system. It's really a delicate balance the way I see it, hope this helps. -
Didn't realize this random acro frag that I got months ago has got such intricate skin patterns! Exquisite! This was how it looked when first added to the tank
