  3. Hi Gary, you may find Dr G's anti parasitic caviar at either Iwarna (Pasir Ris Farmway 3) or Pacific Reef (known also as Ah Beng) at Pasir Ris Farmway 2. I'm sure there are others at the west but I'm not sure which shop has stock. Do you use Tapatalk to view this forum? If so they have a tab called "subforums" and there is a thread called "New to the Marine Hobby". You'll find most useful information there. For overseas forums, either Reef Central and Reef2Reef are helpful for discussions on best practices of reefing. Sofishticated Friend
  4. The best way is to clean off the algae using either an algae scraper or a magnet cleaner or a sponge. Algae eaters don't eat every algae and those that grow on glass are usually the red slime known as Cyanobacteria. Over time, you'll want to just clean it off rather than depend on algae eaters that move about randomly. Sofishticated Friend
  5. Sorry to hear about that. Seems to be a classic case of ich. To deal with it there are a variety of methods. Some require a hospital tank, and some keep the fish in the same tank. For me, I used Dr G's anti parasitic caviar. It has helped me treat all my fishes successfully. I am assuming you know the basics of the right temperature, pH, and salinity for the health of your tank inhabitants? If not spend some time to read some info in the beginner's thread. 6. Just upgraded my chiller from Hailea HS28a to a HS66a. From 1/10hp to 1/4 hp. Also installed a temperature probe that will turn off the chiller when the temperature has been reached. Hopefully this will save me some electricity bills. Sofishticated Friend
  7. Sorry to hear that u did not get to set up this tank in ur new home bro. It is a really good deal which is a loss to you but a gain to others. Unfortunately I cannot commit as I have just upgraded and this is the max I'm allowed for me home. Haha. Sofishticated Friend

  10. So it's been about two months since I've had this tank and I think it's been wonderful. I am happy with the space a 2ft by 2ft tank affords, but I have yet to maximize it. Slowly though, I feel I am getting a better idea of what I want, and what are my limitations. With an IOS, it makes it hard to manage the bio load, but I managed to mitigate that a little bit by getting a canister filter, and of course, regular water changes. One other thing that I find helps but hard to do, is to add livestock slowly. But I try, and give myself a pat on the back for having done quite well so far. It's still hard to manage finicky eaters and I have not have much success with the infamous fishes like a Flame Angel, the Coral Beauty, and the dragonet. None of them have survived since trying to introduce them to my tank but I will keep on trying when I have built up more knowledge and practice wisdom. For now, my current livestock consists of 1 Blue Tang, 2 True Perculas, 1 Yellow Wrasse, 1 Six Line Wrasse, 2 Red Fire Gobies, and my latest addition, much against conventional wisdom, a Red Seahorse. Corals wise I have 1 bubble coral, one pink Duncan with 4 heads, one small acans colony with 7 heads, one red colored brain, and one small colony of various zoanthids Yes yes I know Seahorses need a specialized tank, and one that is matured with enough Copepods for it to nip. I got it after hearing a success story of my fellow Reefer who gave me some tips for helping it thrive. Basically, Rotifers are important for them. A long stemmed plant will also help them a lot. This seahorse has also been in Seasonal Aquarium for two months so it is pretty stable and acclimatized to an aquarium setting. It is also eating frozen mysis. These are the factors that helped me decide to try keeping one. Plus of course, they're cute! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Just an update, the craze nowadays seems to be on the new Hydropure technology which can safely deal with nutrients in our tanks. So I too dove in to join the craze and got myself a Hydra 30 internal filter! Hahaha. It also acts as a current at the back area of my tank where flow is least so I'm happy that at least it serves some purpose apart from cleaning the water. What do you guys think? Is it clearer now? I guess it's subjective. But corals do seem to open bigger after putting in Hydra. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Hi @Yxh, here's the link for the light and seems that they have performed well for LPS so far. I don't have SPS so I can't comment. My Zoas that did not open in my previous tank also opened in this tank more. http://m.intl.taobao.com/detail/detail.html?id=43375369210 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
