  1. I agree on point 10 too. Ive kept to being content with just the easy to moderate corals. My no3 is 1-2 cos of DSB n bio pellets, but I can't keep up with the regular water monitoring and change requirement for the harder ones. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  2. The answer is speed. Plants are slow, and that's why you see algae grown right on top of them. Will cover this later. The sexual part is correct, but chaeto is actually a slow grower which I will cover. My cheato grew v fast when no3 was high. But once no3 was handled and I cleared like 3/4 of them for regrowth, algae took over. So the author's info so far has basis. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  3. Alright. Thx Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  4. If a mandarin can make it in the tank, this fish will make it. Needs pods on lots of rock multiplying . prob 2 feet for every one of these or a small mandarin. My 3 feet currently sustains a small mandarin and leapoard wrasse. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  5. Another tip is to plaster black the top of the tank's glass jutting out horizontally above the water surface This stops ur aquarium light from hitting the front top panel of the glass and prevent algae growth there. No corals growing at that angle so its perfect also. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  6. As in totally heck care the sides of the glass let algae grow out. Cos its blacked out. Like in the pic below. So I just need to maintain the front side. Much easier. Nothing to see from the sides anyway. Another bonus is it blocks sun light. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

  9. Looks interesting. An disti or show location in SG for some qna? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  10. Hi. This is a good tip. Even expensive reef feed uses oyster eggs. By chop meaning... How fine was it? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  11. If the purpose is to drop no3 and phosphate won't any aquatic plant do ? Why cheato or specifically algae ? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  12. Wow ok.. cos i only on my lights for 8 hours in my sump on the night cycle. Can't imagine 24/7.. cos it'll heat up the water even more against the chiller.
  13. 24/7 as in they r on all the time or during daylight hours? I think ur flow rate tip is correct. My sump tank overflow is quite slow water doesn't really move. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  14. OK cool. Thx for e tip will go scout it out. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  15. That was what I wanted to ask also. Haha. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  16. Wow I've been wanting to get this effect in a portion of my sump where I do and overflow and grow pods. But I just keep getting algae and any marine plants in getting 'strangled' by these algae. I run an led light meant for plants. Any tips? Zero no3,2 27-28 degree reef tank. 17. My 100% natural rock stack tank. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  18. I was reading about isocket online. Doesn't say how it grabs the temperature. Its a pass thru wall socket. Is there a probe that goes into the water? And how did u buy it? Local disti? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  19. True. Temperature rise in main tank can even help indicate overflow main pump problem. Something cost effective has to get into the market with all the iot hype. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  20. I gave up on maintaining the sides of the tank. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  21. One other trick is to make only the front of the tank viewable and oyama the sides. This way maintenance is just on one panel. And rocks can be leaned on the sides n still look neat. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  22. Can try pacific reef. They have reasonably priced corals at starter range. Easy ro care for also. Polyps, leather , mushrooms etc. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  23. What app is that ? How do u get ur tank temp replied to u? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  24. Nice. Actually. I thought they multiply by splitting ? Or its either spwanning or splitting or they can do either? My rbta just seems to split occasionally. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  25. I think if u r looking at long run TCO with equipmemt cost added in , then the electrical efficiency rating is also impt. I run the teco tk500 directing exaust air away thru a vent which the tk series were designed with. By ensuring warm air doesn't hit back at the coils the chiller is also more efficient. The tk500 consumes less power supposedly but if it conks fast then its still costly. So reliability (brand n trackrecord), a well ventilated area ( compressor can prob be placed somewhere windy) and right sizing the equipment according to the tank size all have to be balanced up I guess.
