Had the fortune of seeing this tank in person. Very beautiful setup bro! Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk

Wah bro, 2000 litre will be a typhoon! Your sand will fly everywhere. My 20 gallon uses a 1000 l/hr and my poor fish look like they're running on a treadmill lol. Usually just 20 times your tank size is sufficient. So for your case a 100-200 l/hr should be enough Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk

Hi guys, need some advice. Recently my bubble coral started bleaching and receding, suspected that it was due to the recent hot weather (temp hit 29 even with fan) so I moved it to a much cooler tank in my office to recover. After one month the bubble started recovering but started to have some brown spots, looks like small stains. I Googled brown jelly disease but it seems to look different. Should I be concerned? Any experts can advise? Thanks Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk

Thanks bro. I really have no idea what species this is. It looks almost like a piece of pink plastic, very unusual texture. Here's another pic from a different angle. Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk

Hi bro, I don't medicate my quarantined fish until I see symptoms. So should be fine, medication also stresses out fish. But make sure to quarantine for long enough time for an entire ich cycle to finish as symptoms won't show until the parasite is mature. Quarantine for at least one month to be extra safe. Is this considered as a powerhead ?
tuajia replied to Zest2night's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Powerhead refers to the pump itself. The part with the motor Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk -
Do i really need a chiller ?
tuajia replied to Zest2night's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Lol true but at least if you running your own chiller your can always hook up an emergency UPS that can provide power during blackout. If depending on room aircon, you'll have a problem during blackout unless you really keep a chiller just for standby. However I don't think most people will do such a thing. 22?! Definitely no chiller needed. Might be a problem if there's a blackout though. Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk -
Looks like goniopora to me. http://reefcorner.com/reef-database-index/large-polyp-stony-coral-index/pink-goniopora-coral/ Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk

Actually, now that i think about it, and after comparing skeletons, also observing that the coral seems to be getting bigger... and flatter... almost looking like a PRATA! Could this actually be a plain colored prata coral?? Any experts can advise?

Just an update. It's been some time since I put that weird mystery scoly (still not sure what lps coral it is). It has grown to a monster size of 4" in diameter and is beginning to aggressively sting other corals. Already lost 2 hairy mushrooms, 3 Duncan heads and one weird red mushroom to it. Suspect my wrasse is knocking corals into it when it buries itself. I guess it's doing very well? Lol. It's also starting to get some speckles of orange in the purple skin, very obvious under actinic light. Here's a pic of it under normal light since my phone camera cannot take blue light photos properly. You can see a bit of the orange Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk

Hey bro, to my experience I've seen cowfish at Coral Farm. Ah Beng also has quite a few oddballs but I haven't seen cowfish though, maybe you can enquire with them Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk

Hi bros, just noticed that my snail (i think its an astraea snail) has some sort of extra lump on its shell. I just thought it was a mis-formed shell... Until i observed that it's alive! Upon closer inspection it looks like another snail piggy-backing on the astrae snail. Check out the video, it seems like another astraea snail, just that the flesh is black instead of white. Any of you bros seen this before? Super weird but kind of cool.

Hi people. Have some aiptasia starting to pop out from nowhere after almost a year of setting up my nano tanks. at first i tolerated them but soon noticed more and more. did some research and decided to try aiptasia-x. Read a lot of horror stories about it not really being reef safe but also lots of good reviews, so i decided to try for myself and conduct some experiments. I'm recording the process over here and will monitor the situation and see if the aiptasias are really gone for good! Hope it helps bros here. So far i've decided to try on my small 8g nano cube first. I targeted 2 aiptasias. Followed instructions on applying the aiptasia. Aiptasia-x is supposed to be applied directly onto the aiptasia itself and block the entire cavity. Supposedly this means a) it can't release its eggs and it will "choke" the aiptasia fully. After a couple of seconds, the aiptasia will suddenly just implode and shrink like a popped balloon. As you can see in this video, that seems to have happened. I also quickly siphoned out the extra goo that fell off when the aiptasia imploded, just in case it really causes harm to my livestock. Supposedly it will degrade naturally if left in your tank, but i decided not to take chances. Funnily enough, they didn't say what to do AFTER the aiptasia is "imploded". So i left 1 alone (in the video) while the other one not in the video was scraped away and discarded after the process. So we'll see if there's any difference between leaving the "dead" aiptasia there vs. thowing away the carcass. Fingers crossed and will update again!
