  1. Thanks for the advice bros. Actually, being a cheapskate and looking at what the socks look like... I was just thinking how it looks literally like a sock or stocking. Any bros here ever used a stocking as a filter sock instead? Lol Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  2. Hi bros, i have just upgraded my setup to a proper 4 ft with cabinet and sump. With space to properly do maintenance at last, I transferred sand and rock from 3 different tanks into the 4ft but of course ended up crating a huge cloud storm of dirt. I used filter wool with the sump but i realised that while it traps detritus very well, i have to take out the wool to rinse all the gunk out every 2 days and while doing that, i end up releasing some of the dirt back into the system that clouds up the water and it feels like i'm slapping myself. Hence I'm thinking of using a filter sock to make my life easier, but have no experience with them and am not sure what micron size is too big or too small. Any recommendation for a micron size that will effectively trap small detritus particles? Thanks for the help!
  3. Wow bro, on a positive note your tank is super condusive for softies. Maybe just take out all and sell off. Do you have a lot of detritus buildup that's hording nutrients somewhere? Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  4. Hi bro, just to feedback that there's too many fish in a tank that size, so the risk of fish getting sick is very high as they will feel stressed. I would say 5 small fish is the max number you can go. Also, ribbon eels are notorious for being very difficult to care for. You may wish to use this site to reference how many fish to keep for your tank size. It helps calculate compatibility etc. http://www.marinecompatibilityguide.com Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  5. It's a good idea but only for people who need to see and test equipment before buying. Sometimes you can't do that when buying off others because everyone has a different style. Some treat other hobbyist as customers, some treat as friends, others don't have time to entertain. But tanks will be a problem due to storage issues. Maybe just limit to portable equipment Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

    Wtg live rocks

Many fast hand fast leg bros. Apologies to those who i didn't reply. Will update again if any left over. Thanks
  8. Planning a major overhaul of my tanks, so giving away live rocks to clear space. Have enough to fill 2 x 2ft tanks. Sample below. Also have some sand if you want. Deal either in woodlands area or clementi area, or nearby these places. Pm for details please. Thanks! Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk

  11. Thanks bro, I hope so too! Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  12. Haha, I think most of is are guilty of this. My most unnecessary purchase was a rotary wave making device (I don't even know what it's called!) from one of the friendly bros here. Basically I was very enthusiastic to ensure my tank had lots of irregular flow like the real ocean, so I bought this device that is supposed to attach to your pump, then it would swing left to right in an arc to ensure your pump blows in many different directions. But in the end, alamak! It's so big and my tank so small that I couldn't deploy it at all. Just settled for an rw4 with alternating mode to create water current instead lol. 13. Make sure you cover the tank, they like to jump if scared, especially during the first few days. If belly was fat at time of purchase it should be able to last about a week without food so give it time to get used to its new home Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  14. Can't really tell from the pic. Do you have a pic under normal light? Looks like green star polyps but I can't be sure Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  15. Hi all, saying knows of this cute macroalgae? It came out of nowhere. Thanks Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  16. Another thing to note, I do all my seeding/transfers etc with rock fully submerged in current tank water to minimise die off of bacteria. I try to use minimal new water in the new tank as I'm unsure of the change in water chemistry will shock the bacteria. Also I do it as fast as possible. I have 2 battery operated air pumps in my car at all times to circulate water in such events. Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  17. As a lazy reefer, I actually regularly use my live rock to seed other rock, media and sand and use as backup for the few times that I set up new tanks or transfered tanks. So far I haven't had any disasters EXCEPT nitrate spikes due to disturbance of the sand bed. The anaerobic bacteria will die immediately upon being exposed to oxygen. 18. Happy CNY!! Huat Huat huat Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  19. Forgot to mention that I also target feed Reef Roids so that the very tiny polyps have a chance to eat... Mysis too big for them and plankton just washes away, cannot tell if they ate it. Just keep feeding and hope for the best. Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  20. Hi bro, I'm ashamed to say that I didn't manage to keep my suns that healthy for long. The normal suns eventually disintegrated no matter what I did. The Super suns are faring much better, but not as fat as before. I keep dosing plankton and also target feed with mysis every few days, but don't see much growth and not all polyps stay open. I suspect they really need A LOT of food and good water parameters to be really healthy. Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  21. Hi bro, I got mine from q0010, about 40 plus depending on what accessories you add on. Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  22. Wah bro, I bought the same ip cam for the same reason but haven't set it up cos dunno where to place it for a good angle. You bought from the online December sales right?? Haha Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
  23. Hi bro, that sounds ok already in my opinion. I use a small 5 gallon for quarantine also. I don't use cooling as well, so far it seems ok. Ambient temperature is about 29 degrees. Some reefers recommend at least a 2 feet tank but if your fish are small, should be no issue. Try to house at least 2 months, most parasites will show themselves within that period. I have copper medication on standby but so far never needed to use it Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  24. Yup, I dosed seachem straight into the tank. So far no issues, my inverts doing OK I think. My fish don't care. Thanks for the advice, people Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  25. Hi bros, I just did 10% water change with tap water and salt mix and blur blur forgot to dechlorinate the water before i dumped it into my tank. Panicking now. I actually made this mistake with my freshwater tanks before but nothing bad happened. Not so sure for my reef tank though. Should i be worried??
