  1. I dunno, my coral banded shrimp gets bullied even by my cleaner shrimp... Don't think he can ever stand a chance with a mantis lol Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  2. I just interlocked them tightly bro. Just in case I need to shift things around. Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  3. I think the central top piece which is a flat rock glued to a support looks super weird but will be a good perch for corals if I decide to move my corals in here. Perhaps it needs to be moved elsewhere. It now looks like a strange watchtower when placed in the centre... Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  4. Just a quick update, my tank is finally up and running, into first week of cycle. As advised, I ditched the idea of growing chaeto and pods in the internal sump area and will replace with an external breeder box in due time. Using a mix of live and dry rock with Caribsea live sand and tried to aquascape the best I could... Read up on aquascape tips and came up with this setup, but somehow it just doesn't look right. Was going for a typical shelf look by stacking rocks in 321 formation and irregular depth to hopefully create something a bit more natural, but something seems missing. Hmm Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  5. Hi guys, I'm looking for large amounts of macroalgae (like maybe a small bucket worth). Not chaeto, prefer the "grassy" types like caulerpa as I want to use them for aquascaping Willing to trade a few clean up crew. I have various snails, hermits, stars, urchins, various shrimp. Or if you just want to give the macroalgae away, I'll be very grateful PM me if you're keen, thanks.
  6. Usually 1.020 is recommended to avoid parasites and other undesirable invertebrates that love higher salinity Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  7. Update... Almost all my chaeto is gone. Replaced with some nice caulerpa and taxifolia. Will monitor their condition. Zzz Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  8. Wow bro that's an amazing amount of algae!! Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk

  10. I was spreading them out earlier and found a 4" bristleworm... Could that be the reason why my chaeto not doing well? As I understand bristleworms are quite harmless... Anyway I left him inside there. Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  11. Around 15-20ppm, weekly 10% water change Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks for the advice, people. Guess I also need to dose myself with patience supplement Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  13. Hi bro, what's an AIO? As for dosing, I used to dose Kent trace elements but recently stopped and just changed 10% water weekly Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  14. Hi all, been trying to find a solution myself but so far no improvement, need expert advice on torch coral. Long story short, I bought 2 healthy torch corals from a friendly bro. It has been about 3 weeks now, and this is the result Roaring with life! Shriveled like yesterday's vegetables... 2 different reactions to my tank conditions. My tank has 2 problems, which are high nitrates and low magnesium levels, but that doesn't explain why the other is unaffected. I tried moving the green around to high flow area, same thing, moved to high light, same. Finally put it in a different tank so I can isolate it (cleaner shrimp keeps dancing on top of it during feeding time). So far still the same. It's in medium flow, tentacles will sway gently and light is moderate. Even when I tried to feed mysis, it didn't even exhibit a feeding response. Luckily it doesn't seem to be getting worse... I'm running out of ideas, do you bros have any advice for me? Thanks ! Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  15. I saw some at coral farm last week Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  16. Hi bros, that's the funny part. I admit I didn't check phosphate but my nitrate levels still quite high, about 20ppm. So I'm confused as to what happened. Unless my light too low? It's 12 watts led turned on 24/7 Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  17. Very beautiful tanks! This is even better than watching TV Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  18. Nice setup bro, I actually like the look of 3 Nanos side by side like small pockets of coral heaven Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  19. Hi people, just wondering if anyone has experience with thear chaeto turning lighter and lighter green until it's almost white and starts dying? I've been keeping chaeto in a breeder box outside the tank with 24 hour lighting (some cheapo LED light) for around 2 months now, the chaeto always looked rich dark green and the population of pods was slowly rising. But recently, the chaeto turned white within a matter of 2 weeks and started disappearing. The pods are still very happy and the population is rising even more, though. Can anyone enlighten me on what might be wrong? Thanks! Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  20. I've pm'd you bro. Thanks Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  21. I only target feed my torch and blasto with pellets or mysis once a week... very little also, maybe 10-15 pellets worth? And every month just dose some plankton also, although that's more for my pods to eat. My softies i don't feed at all. Apparently, the only benefit of feeding is to boost the growth rate. It's like you drink protein shake to be a muscle man, or don't and just be normal man. Unless your corals are non-photosynthetic like Sun coral, then you really need to feed or else they will not grow at all.
  22. I bought a Smart ATO and combined it with some free gift USB-powered fan. Seems to work well, 28-29 degrees (room temp is usually 32). Also, my tank is at the bottom rack, near the floor. Temps are lower closer to the ground (secondary school physics, hot air rises)
  23. Wah nice! So that's the legendary goniopora. Is it true that it's super difficult to maintain?
  24. I'm no expert, but according to research, it depends on what corals you keep. The logic behind the lights, if i understand correctly, is that its supposed to emulate the amount of light they receive at certain depths of the ocean. For those who do diving, you may notice that the deeper you go, the more "blue" the reef becomes due to refraction of light in the water column. Hence, in general, many LPS, especially the bottom hugging ones like plates and brains benefit from the blue since they live in deeper waters while softies do well in just normal white as they tend to be found in shallow reefs. Of course, there's also extremely deep water coral that are non-photosynthetic and don't even need light to survive. Then again, since i am no expert and also hate to do math and physics calculations, I just go by the "watts-per-gallon" rule and currently use a 16 watt LED (70% white 30% blue) on a 9 hour cycle to cover all ground. Also, my corals are the beginner type, so i guess they are hardy and not too bothered about light lol Softies: mushrooms, luminous GSP, zoa, cauliflower, xenia LPS: Torch coral, Blasto merletti
  25. Yeah lucky break for me. I forgot that corals are smart enough to help themselves when their conditions are not optimum. Just noticed that both stalks of my torch corals formed a layer of calcium to fill up the hole in the LR to anchor themselves down. Very cool, though that means i better dose supplements to make up for lost calcium and magnesium
