How to connect rubber hose to PVC pipes and Pumps
Melvyn Tan replied to Maverick77's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
All metals will rust including Gold. For marine offshore application SS304,316,321 (and others) are all being used at different locations depending on the intensity of the corrosive elements and stresses exposure. The best is of course to utilise titanium. For practicality and cost savings however, various grades of SS are still being used and won't be replaced anytime in the near future. Thus, for the purpose of fasterners of the hoses, SS304 is good enough as it is not directly in contact with saltwater. -
And the poor man that dun brisk walk but drives a small black car?

Most Ang Mo's english are not really that good if one is to consider the english language itself - i am talking about the average Ang Mo in their native country, it is just that they have that perculiar accent that somehow impresses foreigners and that accented english became the English foreigners are impressed with - original English. When me and wife domicile in England many years back - she taught the Ang Mo English But i must say, speaking English with some of the accent does give it the flavour, for instance the Chinese's chinese does sound better and original (as it is meant to be spoken that way) so is Nihon-jin's Japanese etc. Different city's English back in the UK are interesting as the English accent varies eg, Welsh, Liverpool, Blackpool, London, Peak District areas, Scotts all very flavourful but the original accent as in London's accent (British) tends to criticise the rest. SO, i do feel that although we do not need to speak like the heavily accented English (British, the American's English are crap), but we do need to speak English properly so that it will sound like "English" per say. Guten tag Jaslyn - understand your experience of racism, just to share, my Chinese friend (classmate) who stayed back in UK lost his newly procured car. He lodged a report to the "scotland yard" and his car was later found in the river But in a word of fairness, usually the outskirts as in the rural people are much nicer people compared to the city people - and the city, most of the people who are not that nice comprises of 2 types; the less educated and the people who think they are superior. The former feels this way because of migrants moving to their land took opportunities aplenty away from them, just as the now SG we are experiencing, but Singaporeans are more tolerant of the bangledeshi, china people, expats etc. but it will reach a stage when Singaporeans will give that racist back to the foreigners eg. many employer feels that for the same Sing dollar they would rather employ eg Malaysian than the locals even for managerial levels. I do not feel racism as much as my counterparts did but do however experienced graciousness not even seen in my fellow SG.

How noble of you to take 35% cut ! Our co. just did a slight structuring and in order that other staffs dun get pay cut the upper mgmt get cut. Me included 20% ! Yikes ! better times profit sharing i dun have, bad time i got cut ! Anyway it'll be a good thing to further our discussion for the sake of our reefs...i mean family, the support and all... On one hand, the success stories and advise by say this lizard44 / minsmarine etc...can help us plan better, make a more informed decision and perhaps help us see things we might perhaps have not seen it before (different light)...and the younger folks can tap on the experiences shared by all and be better prepared the next time (and when make big money dun forget the old folks here - buy coffee)

Ok, say if the apportionment is 20% set aside for savings, then what will be a prudent way for the distribution of the remainder 80%? Actually i was considering in the Sg context of living that universally how much savings one ought to have to live in Sg in the age range of 20s, 30s and 40s assuming the housing is HDB or lower end Condo and maybe no car or an average car.
-
30 to mid 30s - how much savings in Bank to be considered ok (or sufficient) mid 30s to 40 - ditto

So if one is to earn 2k, then savings should be S$24,000/- 20% 2k is S$400/- So it will take 5 years to save (S$24,000) for 1 years' tide-over (or for whatever salary scale) Wah...must buck up hor... 20% goes into savings then what about the other apportionment? -
Just. Er is a ###### lass and Minsmarine has a ###### brain
