Bro Alcatraz, I used to work at Batam at 2003 for a year and more. And there were marine shops hideouts back during those days, whom they operated in households. I remembered buying a big A2 sized Red Sea Fan for merely $10! Anyway, during those days, Batam Center terminal was more stricter than others like Sekupang, or Batu Ampar. So I normally departs via Sekupang jetty. However, even though I took corals out of Batam on several occasions, those were still some 12 years ago. So on current times, I'm not sure the situation liao. You will have to try your luck. But in anyway, they also didn't really want to stop you too, they merely hope you can let them have some free coffee, if you know what I mean.

Eggs!? Scary... Please help ID before they hatch
Dez Ching replied to Dez Ching's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Hi Guys, thank you in advance for your replies and advises. Yah lor, I'm now fretting already. Coz by the time I so called removed the eggs few days later(as I thought they won't hatch so early anyway), the slime that string the eggs up has already disintegrated and the eggs become free flowing onto everywhere in my tank! *Crazy liao* You can imagine its like "Walah!", red tiny dots seen in every 5 cubic centimetres! So if you asked me if I managed to removed them all, the answer is... Hahaha, anyone's guess: no... The fishes and invertebrates don't eat them also... So, now I have to wait for the faithful day to come liao. I did kept a few of those eggs aside into a small capped container and float it in my sump. So I will know what these are, and share with anyone who might encounter in future. Provided if it hatches! But I hope they don't! *Really very contradicting hor* Hahahaha... Lets see when time comes... -
Hi Bro Alcatraz, I had written to AVA at year end of 2013 on bringing fishes and corals into Singapore. And they gave me advise on a replied email, which I then followed up with a call to the official promptly. According to what I can still remember on our conversation, we can bring in marine ornament fishes and corals within 3 litres of water(packages they don't care). But that also is subjected to whether you walk in through customs, driving through customs, or flying into Singapore. If you are driving, the amount should be divided into the number of head counts in the car. If you are flying into Singapore, then you have to abide to the 100ml on board flight, unless you are saying you check in your fishes or corals with your luggage, which I don't think anyone would. I can forward you the email to you if you want. Their reply was dated on 3-Jan-2014. In addition to your concern about bringing them out from their countries. I brought over a A2 sized Sea Fan, Clams of fist size, and bubble corals into Singapore back in 2003, from Batam. The Batam authorities don't care at all. When I scanned my items in Singapore customs at Harboufront back then, the officers took my packages high up to his eyes view point, and asked what are these, I explained humbly, and they let me passed through liao. But now, I cannot dare to say so..., as times are different mah. So I wrote in to have a some sort of evidence from AVA as a protection to myself that I'm bringing in legally.

deep sea submarine expedition open to public
Dez Ching replied to ml708's topic in General Reefkeeping_
I was doing my backpack 2 years ago and someone showed me photos of him at Australia Great Barrier Reef feeding the Great white! It was one straight into my wish list! But now due to commitment I would not be able to do it liao... The costs was about USD 200+ only, if you engaged those shops at Great Barrier reef, bro. Some more, since you want to feed liao, might as well go for the Great White Shark! Teo Bo!? -

Eggs!? Scary... Please help ID before they hatch
Dez Ching replied to Dez Ching's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Yah thanks bro, and I hope I can remove them clean enough, coz quite a lot all stringing within the GSP x2. Colour of eggs some more is red, I might just missed some for sure... The only possible eggs I thought maybe is from the spider crab! My rocks are all started out as dead rocks, and my tank only started for 2 months. So I guess as such possibility. Hopefully is something good instead... -
How about pictures of the 3 pairs of Harlequin Shrimps? And their size? And how long you rear them already?

Dez Ching replied to Dez Ching's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
I have : - six line wrasse x1 - chromis x4 - fire fish x2 - sand goby x1 - cleaner shrimp x2 - spider crab x1 I'm suspecting it to be some eggs from pest, can anyone ID these eggs? Just laid yesterday only. Coz I just saw them after returning from work. -
Hi guys, can someone help me ID what eggs these belongs to? It looks fearful to me if they are some pests that are going to hatch in my tank, then I Habis! They are hiding within my green star polyps coral. And there is a slime attached to the eggs, stringing them together. Thank you in advance, please.

Hi Bro Bright, sorry for the late reply, as I was on travel overseas. Quite a number of reefers has gotten the contact from me too and I really hope everyone of us reefers(consumers) will never be quoted such exorbitantly by dealers and makers, in future! I just got to know a bro reefer here is paying a much higher price for a copper coil than the real Singapore market's titanium coil again! I'm sometimes very angry with such practices! I don't wish to comment much, but hope that such prices ought to be reasonable from the makers to consumers in the future. Please see my PM to you in a while, bro. Thanks.

Bro Jun005, why your chromis' died as such? Aggression? All 6 are of different batches? Hmm.., could it be other danger is lurking in your tank, and it is attacking them at night?
-
Bro Bright, I have recently installed a Daikin 1hp, titanium coil, compressor chiller. It's brand new, but I considered it to be the cheapest I have surveyed amongst all, simply none could have beat his price! You can PM me, I give you his details. Job was neatly done and professional too! He is the boss of a shop whom they do air-con and refrigeration services for 20 over years. I think it's time to cut out people who quote such exorbitant prices in the Marine chilling market, and bring some benefits to our reefers! PM me, cheers!

Item 3 sold. Ups for item 1 & 2 -
Hi Bro Kenyee, can I know how long it took you to add the final 3 into mixture with the 6 of them? And if the 6 has any aggression when you add the 3 in later? Did you see fights or intimidations once you add them in? You said that you are left with 3 chromis' now, in your opinion, what could have caused the death of the 6 chromis'? There are a number of factors, example tank size, water parameters, feeding frequencies, and many more. How long was the first death seen after you add the 3 new batch? If you said 3 died, I could understand, but if 6 of them died, then maybe its not under aggression issue liao... I think it might be other underlying problems in your tank. Can we narrow down to aggression only? Can you give your opinion once more? Thanks.

Hi brother snowy85, can know if your MHZ bulbs are still available? What is the ratings: how many watts, how many K? Colour more to yellowish or bluish? I'm interested with it. Thanks.
-
Hi Bro Chriscoral, I have recently switched back to using MH lightings. Still find that MH lightbulbs are the best! Although I prefer ratings at 150w 20,000k, as it has more blue in its spectrum, I would like to learn more too from you, as I'm still new to marine rearing. Can I know why you looking for Iwasaki MH 150w 6500k bulb? Is it a better choice for marine? Can teach me? Thanks.
