  1. Bro, Alamak! Jialart liao, if that is the case. How possible to clear all of them man. Everyday I see little little nudibranches on my DT glass now leh... And haven't say those majority I think would be on the life rocks and corals one... *OMG*
  2. Hi Bro RH8198, I had the same question in mind as you too! It really took me some time to find the right person who is honest enough to quote me reasonable market price for my compressor and still taught me all the whys, dos, and don'ts. Our fish tank compressor has to be a non-invertor type compressor, while our home used air-con, normally uses invertor compressor. Why? Because home use nowadays are normally system 2 or 3 or 4 up. A non-invertor is suitable for 1:1, as the below reasoning. <<In an inverter Air Conditioner, an inverter is used to control the speed of the compressor motor, which allows it to change as per the temperature the Air Conditioner is set at. This feature helps cut down the electricity consumption of the Air Conditioner, and is the biggest differentiator between a non-inverter Air Conditioner and an inverter Air Conditioner. The compressor motor of a non-inverter Air Conditioner only operates at a maximum capacity, or is switched off altogether. This leads to unnecessary electricity consumption and higher electricity bills. The ability of an Inverter Air Conditioner to control the speed of the compressor motor eliminates stop-start cycles. This in turn makes the Air Conditioners less prone to breakdowns and cheaper to run. The usage of an inverter Air Conditioner helps bring down the electricity bill by 30-50%. Therefore, it may seem as an expensive investment while making the purchase, but it definitely reduces your electricity bill by huge margins and results in greater savings in the long run.>> (the above is extracted from Daikin website) However, I had also challenge the air-con man, saying I don't care about electricity bills, and just want to connect from my existing air-con compressor, can or not? Few issues to this was replied. 1. The current compressor is for system how many? Let's say system 3, then all the fittings on the aircon outlets would have already connected liao, where got extra fittings for fish tank? 2. Even if there are available fitting, the smart chip invertor compressor(because it is invented for saving electricity) cannot operate the same way a non-invertor does, that is to start and stop altogether. 3. The air-con man don't know how to do and cannot give warranty if cause any damage, as this defies how the invertor compressor operates. Wah, haha, a little lengthy... But hope it helps you. PM me, if you need the contact, he is really cheap comparing to those who quoted you in this field. Because he is not in this marine fish field. He does 20 over years on refrigeration and air-con and is a very experience and nice person.
  3. Hi guys, an update of the scary eggs as the answer is revealed... it's nudibranch. I had quite a number of small size nudibranch these couple of days seen on my DT glass... and had removed as much as I can see to my QT. Will they cause any harm if I don't remove them? I also don't wish to kill any lives in particular due to me removing them... But can anyone advise me it's cause an effect? Thanks
  4. Yah, the significance in reduction of cooling unit running time does impressed me as well. All taught by reefers in our club. A compressor in long run will certainly be saving many more issues than a standard chiller. Nice, trendy, more high-tech, lesser running time = lesser power consumption, lesser hot air to the environment, 1 lesser feeding pump = reduction in power and noise from pump, no leakage problem unlike standard chillers, most importantly, lesser electricity bill, and higher resale value if you bought it as cheap as mine. For the power ratings supplied to our HDB household is different from new and old estate. To this, the Air-con guy will be more well-verse than us. You can check out the compressor guy, they will check for you. For your knowledge, my home is a 33yr old estate. Running a system 4 air-con at home, and then I add on this Daikin 1 hp compressor in my living room. Everything ok at my home.
  5. Hi Bro CMY, I'm keen in LPS if you have any? Can send pictures via PM of here? Thanks.
  6. It's unbelievable! Opx! I mean it's unbearable. If you put your chiller 2 feet away from your sofa, then its' going to be unbearable(on top of the current weather). Got wall no wall blocking is same same. Air will move around your space, unless you mean wall as in a wall that separates 2 different rooms. Yah, better heed bro Dingding advise, to place chiller at a well-ventilated area.
  7. I see. I better remove the Powder blue tang tonight when I got home then. I was thinking of introducing new fishes tomorrow. Think I had better put the idea on hold, in case of more casualties.
  8. Hi Bro, does ich attached to all fishes? I have a powder blue tang ich affected. But my yellow tang and ther fishes bo dai chi yet for 3 weeks liao. Do you think the other fishes will also still gradually kena the ich, or if the powder blue dies off, will the ich just go to the other fishes?
  9. I installed my 1 hp Daikin compressor beside my tank, the same location beside my fish tank cabinet which I placed my sold Hailea 1 HP chiller. I noticed a few differences for heat and noise. Heat wise, compressor is less warm for my case, because compressor fan is larger and stronger, and I feel it dissipates heat away faster away from the device and since mine is near a window, some gets sucked out.. For a chiller, because the fan is smaller, I felt the heat all accumulates at the corner and slowly dissipating, thus coz mass heated air channeling away from the location slower, and thus the heat becomes more unbearable. But of coz other than that was because chiller ran a much much longer time to a compressor, so heat also accumulates more in my living room for hailea. 8min vs 1.5h for compressor and chiller respectively. For Noise wise, both also noisy when they operated. But Compressor better, because its a type of small humming electrical and wind noise, rather than the Hailea Super heated air wind blowing noise(macam lion roaring like that). And compressor runs only 8mins, comparing to 1.5h for chiller you say which one better leh? HDB wise cannot stack, so I placed beside cabinet. Hope my reply helps.
  10. Hi Bro PCW, do you have any experience to share with me? Coz' a Mandarin Dragonet is one of my wanted-to-keep fish. But before I acquire one now, I surely would like to be much confident to be able to support it's daily habits and livelihood. And certainly like to see it feeding good and lively. Can share with me how you keep yours from start, if you do? Thanks in advance.
  11. Hi Bro, I'm keen, can I know where is the pick up location? Thanks.
  12. No need to feed it liao... When I came home last evening with live brine shrimps, my mandarin already died. I was a bad master... Sigh..., didn't realized that a mandarin has to feed with live copepods or live brine shrimps..., till the very last min... When it finally say goodbye to me, I learned... Thanks for all advises guys. I'm a new learned man!
  13. I will try get some brine shrimps later on to feed it. Hopefully he eats, and carry on healthily in my tank forevermore.
  14. Hi guys, I bought a Mandarin dragonet 3 weeks ago, and it seemed to me that it's not eating the pellets nor the Mysis shrimps which I'm feeding my other fishes with. It was seen nibbling here and there on the rocks and other areas, but I can see that it is getting thinner each week. Anyone has some experience to share how to make a Mandarin feed? Thanks.
  15. I certainly will take some pictures to verify with you all tonight when I get back home. Just to confirm that the ID is right and I get down to reducing the PO4 that's in my tank. I have 2 types of such now in my tank. One is brown slime that have air trapped on the tip, and they go dangling and swaying from the Live rocks, similar feel like a tight-down hot air balloon. The other is reddish patches from light red to dark red that has bubble trapped within them and flakes off releasing the bubbles when brushed off by hands. I saw that raising PH might help too right? In anyway, these are really some nuisance to me as I have to get my hands wet each time I got home.
  16. Hi bro Patricklhc, can I know if the Dino algae you meant looked red, or even some dark red and patches with air bubbles being trapped beneath? When you brushed it off, it came off it flakes rather than dissolved? I have such a problem, but not sure if it's similar to yours. Just started only recently. But further to it, my live rocks started to have air bubbles on its surface each time I come home from work... Does anyone has this problem and can advise?
  17. Anyone knows which LFS has flame angel of about 2 inch or smaller? I'm looking for small sized flame angel. Thanks.
  18. Hi Bro Andtsg, do you mean that it could be "hungry"? Ok, I will try feeding it when it expand during the night. If feed during day time expansion also ok, right? Do you also mean that after feeding it, it might expand fuller? And that this might be the possible reason for its symptoms of crumpling during the day time? Really need help on this one, coz it's rather beautiful actually, and will be a pity if I can't make it bloom to its best.
  19. Less flow less light... But still like this... *sigh* Anyone can advise?
  20. Hi Bro Leon, still the symptoms of crumpling persists after changed its position to a less light less flow area. The rest of the corals are all large and enormous. I think, there must be certain criteria which I haven't got it right, that's why it's not standing tall, and long enough during the day. Hmm..., I wonder what conditions I have to make and adjust. Anyone has any clues or experienced before to share as well?
  21. Hi Bro Leon, thank you for your advise. Really needed that. No wonder I find how come when every other corals are thriving, it is diminishing its glory. Now after you enlighten, my gloomy sky for it has brighten! Will make changes to it immediately!
  22. Thank you bro yeo99 for the ID. Anyone knows how to grow a cauliflower to its best? What kind of light, flow, food, or water parameters?
  23. Hi guys, I have this soft coral that I have added 3 weeks ago to my 4feet. I noticed that it has since been shrinking and shrinking in size. Sometimes under my MH light, all other LPS corals ie bubble, octopus, elegance, GSP, yellow polyps, zoas are thriving and expands so largely, but only this I-don't-know-it's-name soft corals shrunk until macam crushed wet tissue paper! I noticed too that when the MH light shuts off at 7pm, and the actinic blue came in, it starts to grow and stands back up! But as time goes by, even though it grows back up, it has never extend to when I first bought it! I'm thinking that it might be my MH light that it's sensitive about, any one has other opinions on it? Because I was then using LEDs. Any brothers or sister here who keeps it have such soft corals that is thriving? I really like it when it's standing tall, so really keen to learn the secret to keep it strong and make it thrive. Please guide me guys. Thank you in advance.
