Thanks guys, my live stock in my tank consists of : 1x cleaner shrimp, 1 false clown, 2 damsel, 1 blue leg hermit & 1 snail. about 50kg of live rock, 5" sand my reason of asking is that at certain time there isn't any skimate forming so was wondering why do we need to on the skimmer so long hours whereas I only feed them twice a day. Hi JC, I got mine 2nd hand from bro barracuda. actually meant for temp. but since no good pump around use first for cycling purpose. I understand from one of the thread, the Utility pump 5 is selling at $125 ( 1 think) at superstar ..... hope this help. regards-fooyl

Hi, I am current using the Laguna Utility pump 5. According to the manual which include pump 1 to 6, they are all submissible pump. However, from pump 4 onward, they have inlet and outlet hole which I presumed that the pump can be used as external pump. The whole casing upon inspection is water tight which confirmed my assumption. As for the noise, I do not have other pumps so cannot compare. But IMO, it is quiet only at night you can hear humming noise when the cabinet is closed. There seem to be little heat generation like about 40 degree warmmer that my hand. Where to buy? I have no idea as I bought this from a fellow reefer. regards-fooyl
