  1. hmmm alright bro, tot there are peaceful fishes was doing research on them awhile ago. yup the oily glaive i got was actually a faulty set and razali was doing something with it. finally got all that sorted out and got a new set. yea alright will reduce the nitrate to 10ppm before adding any fishes. went to freshNmarine to shop for salt today but ended up buying so many other stuff!!! argh gonna be broke again this month LOL. HAHAHA sps poison eh well i will cross that bridge when i get there bro hahaha !
  2. well bro if it looks dull the only way to go is to rescape or get more corals LOL!
  3. LOL yea bro dingding just had to go for the glaive neat looking and the possibility if me keeping SPS is almost zero i really don't like to keep things too complicated haha. But sadly razali does not have spare one for me to swap tomorrow. Maybe i should just overlook the minor scratches since cant really be seen unless anyone does a detailed inspection. Anyway dingding when you bought your glaive does the light fixture seems to be oiled? i understand if it is to prevent corrosion. but my fixtures seems to be heavily oiled. anyway my water parameters just to keep track of my cycling stages. DAY 25 PH :8.0 S.G: 1.025 Ammonia: 0 ppm Nitrite: 2.0 ppm Nitrate: 20 ppm Nitrite and nitrate seems to be at a constant for this whole week. Was planning to buy a blue damsel or maybe a clown to put in my tank is it safe enough ? i know waiting for another 2 weeks is BEST BUT my patience is running out Saw some Red Mushrooms at GO last week was planning to get this week too but looks like until my tank is cycled it will be too late and i have to wait for another shipment which might or might not have the red mushroom
  4. i do not know whether this thread is close. i just started FW last year feb and currently am a newbie in SW. LFS for both SW and FW do not really put the prices some do but some don't. To me being a newbie and not giving up on this hobby is simple and it is called "Customer service". Of cause the forum plays a part too. Basically customer service to me means, the LFS knows his stuff and willing to share his knowledge i am good. Been to a few LFS for SW some places as long as you go in and you are not a regular they just ignore me. Went to one LFS asked for dead or dry rocks he said "We only have Live rocks you dry it become dead rocks already what". Which is true he is not wrong. But he should know what i was looking for. GO has damn good service. Talked to me about corals, the pricing and care level what type of food he recommends. Even after i told him i am just here to take a look around. IMO price don't really matter even if i have to pay 10% or 20% more for a fish/ corals/ plants if the customer service is good there i will always frequent that place and only that place. Unless of cause i can't find what i am looking for. just some 2cents from a newbie in SW P.S "well the type of fish name or coral name will help, so newbies can google it on the spot on care level etc on the spot. instead of asking the LFS for name."
  5. hi bro, i am a newbie so i cant really give a good advice just yet. you are 4 months my senior lol. but fantastic tank bro!!!! simplicity is best !
  6. hi rebbot thanks for the input. Then i guess i will just use the boyu skimmer till further notice. yea maybe its a bit too much if i include the inverts. Guess i wont put a royal gramma in there so can have a bit more inverts in. Blue leg hermit crab seems like a good choice. OOOPS sorry i had a typo i meant was my boyu wavemaker is 1900LPH. i have taken it out it feels that the flow is too much. the white stuff was not pods though sad LOL My return pump is at 1200LPH. but it is pump - chiller - then to tank. Fourth problem (but should be rectified soon) Went to buy maxspect glaive today after so much researching and calculating. In my excitement i never check the contents inside the box before i bought it. It was lacking a power cord and the led console has abit of minor scratches and oil stain or something like that at the exterior. i learnt my lesson. Luckily, razali was kind enough to offer a 1 to 1 swap the next time i go. He even picked up a call to his HP after office hours. Kudos to De Aquatics for fantastic customer service. Nitrites is still at 2.0ppm praying that it will go down to zero soon
  7. lol nvm bro, just that 2 par38 not really good for long tank its better for a cube tank haha. and the ikea holder the clamp is damn weird. can only clamp on a horizontal platform.
  8. i heard and read somewhere that flipper magnet cleaner is a reliable brand haha
  9. oh yes one more issue.was reading on the amount of flowrate for tanks. and it is stated that for low flow is normally 20X your tank volume, Medium flow is 50X tank volume and high flow is 100X tank volume. My boyu skimmer is 1600LPH and my tank is approx 50L. There is no sand storm in my tank atm. But still have detritus flying around the tank looks like some white stuff. Isit too high ?
  10. hi rebbot, thanks for your kind words of advice ! For your second advice, didnt really do much research the par38 lights was really just an impulse buy but oh well. gotta move on. YEA!! did some more reading up so PH 8.0 is fine so decided to just go with the flow and yes gonna get test kits for KH and CA soon Day 9 Ph: 7.8 S.G: 1.026 AMM:1ppm Nitrite 0.5PPm Nitrate: 10ppm Day 11 PH :8.0 S.G: 1.025 AMM: 1.0PPM NITRITE: 1.0PPM Nitrate: 10ppm Day 14 PH :8.0 S.G: 1.025 AMM: 0.5 PPM NITRITE: 2 PPM Nitrate: 20 ppm Day 16 PH :8.0 S.G: 1.0265 AMM: 0.5 PPM NITRITE: 5 PPM Nitrate: 40 ppm (water change) Day 19 PH :8.0 S.G: 1.0255 AMM: 0.25 PPM NITRITE: 5 PPM Nitrate: 20ppm Finally i am guessing that i am almost at the last phase of the cycling. hoping that my AMM drops to 0 and hoping to see a decrease in nitrite next week 1) my boyu skimmer is really getting on my nerves. did some adjustments on it and the foam does not build up and go to the top to spill over the cup. and my skimmate is as clear as my tank water LOL. Damn tempted to change to a TUNZE 9001 or 9002. should i ? or is there something wrong with my boyu skimmer? Third major problem i am facing while starting up my tank and that is to plan for the LS i wanna put inside. i am no big spender and i like to keep things simple. what i am planning to put inside is 2 X OCCELARIS clown 1 X royal gramma 1 X blue chromis inverts 1 x cleaner shrimp and snails and probably one hermit (depending on my algae issues in the future) of cause this will be done over a period of months any advice or better recommendation for fishes or inverts? for beginners of cause
  11. ok i was adjusting one of the par38 holder just now and it broke NOOOOOO!!!!!!! STILL Looking so i wanna trade 1 X par38 All blue (bought from a fellow reefer a month ago)( WITHOUT HOLDER) 1 X par38 mixture of warm white and blue (bought from a fellow reefer a month ago)
  12. Lol bro andtsg hahahaha looks like i never read properly. Anyway what you guys think of adding crushed coral to increase ph ? Better than adding buffers
  13. Thanks bro subZeroo, will do research on that first. Yes its 8.0ph by day 7.8 by night so its abit fluctuating and doing research online shows most lifestock suitable for mainly 8.1 to 8.4ph so thought of getting seachem ph buffer Thanks bro dingding will do just that
  14. oh ok. that sounds like a plan will wait till my hands itchy and cannot take it then i'll get a new maxspect glaive. Hopefully someone sells his razor . yea most prolly softies and LPS aint got no confident to do any SPS let me handle the small stuff first LOL anyway this tank will only have a life of 2years or less after that moving out need to decomm eventually. bro dingding took your advice did some scaping again. tried my best to get a layer as much as i can cause the rocks are just way to big. last pic is what caribsea live rocks look like in white light though looks better in person. any bro can help me out with the previous questions on polyblab biosphere and ph buffer ?
  15. Haha yes bro dingding, you are my inspiration!!! Your rocks looks good ! Was finding around for those kind of dead rocks but couldnt find before i bought the caribsea live rocks.so making do with what i have was trying to stack the rocks againts the wall but my rocks are big so the bottom rocks was overshadowed no matter how i stack em. most prolly staying with this scape unless $$ permits me get more caribsea rocks I am planning to get maxspect glaive m60 since just planning to keep mostly soft corals since you used it before should i get it ? Or use T5 fixture with ATI bulbs?
  16. as above mentioned. 1 X par38 All blue (bought from a fellow reefer a month ago) 1 X par38 mixture of warm white and blue (bought from a fellow reefer a month ago) decided to trade as 2 par38 don't give me enough coverage for my 2ft want to trade for second hand maxspect glaive m60 used less than a year willing to top up cash contact me via pm or WA 81394313 thanks guys
  17. Day 7 PH= 8.0 SG= 1.025 AMMONIA= 0.5ppm nitrite = 0.5ppm nitrate = 10.0ppm After giving up on the Live rocks i decided to pay razali a visit to get more caribsea Live rocks. He even reminded me when i was choosing the rocks on whether i had enough space in my tank. should have listened to him LOL DISPLAY dimension 60cm by 20cm (10 cm was used for IOS) by 30cm After bringing the rocks home and did some rock scaping i was really having a HARD TIME the WIDTH was too small. This brings me to my second problem starting this hobby and that is to do some nice rockscaping. The restrictions are the rocks i've pick was too big and my display is still small The first pic illustrates my first attempt its ugly i know. the rockscaping was very 2D. so today i did some rockscaping and used EPOXY, bury the rocks deeper in the sand for any future sand shifting lifestocks. trying to make it as 3D as i can with only 20cm of width to play with. so here are some questions, answers and feedback are welcome 1) how do you guys think of my scaping ? (second and thirs pic illustrates it) P.S personally i think its not bad but any improvements to suggest ? 2) i have polyblab biosphere thinking of adding it in should i soak in freshwater for 24hours before use ? 3) i've read that PH should be from 8.1 to 8.4 was thinking of getting some Ph buffer from seachem should i ? thanks guys in advance newbie here sorry P.S* to anyone who thinks of starting a reef tank before you get your tank make sure you got ample space to do some rockscaping
  18. lol its ok bro harlequin i'll just continue with adding caribsea live rocks from DE aquatics. Was cleaning the LR today so many worms and smell really really bad lol thinking twice of adding it. cause to cure it will take so long lol
  19. LCK CF dont sell dead rocks , went to pinnacle they also dont sell dead rocks. so bought a few shapes of LR from pinnacle instead as caribsea live rocks cant give a more natural looking rocks. gonna scrub this bugger LR clean clean and cure it after that
  20. thanks bro turtle !! that explains alot. good i will just keep the skimmer at that config then. suprisingly this morning the cloudiness seems to have subsided abit but not fully. the micro bubbles are a pain in the ... my lights are on for viewing only. and my chiller is already set to off as per your advice bro. skimmer i will want to keep it on to remove the microbubble issue and let then skimmer break in as per advised from bro RayL haha. thanks for your prompt reply bro turtle. i am heading to coral farm today to buy some small pieces of dead rocks to beautify the tank muahaha
  21. alright bro SOLO77, there is actually an adjustable hook on the skimmer for me to adjust the height and so i have managed to adjust my skimmer to the water level around the neck area. and played around with my valve and air valve. Micro bubbles is still present but decreased abit. thanks guys 1) anyway can help me see the photo on the skimmer on the water level see whether it is ok ? 2) and another photo that shows the amount of water that is collected at the cup which is collected over a period of 8 hours just wanna know whether it is it normal ? that instead of brown skimmate it skimmed the water instead at this cycling period i understand i don't have a lot on skunk to skim. water parameters is as such DAY 4 of CYCLING S.G 1.025 PH=8.0 ammonia = 0.25ppm nitrite = 0.25ppm nitrate = 5.0ppm i am currently facing CLOUDY water, did some read up online i understand that it is normal during cycling it started to get cloudy after shrimp was added to kick start cycling. 3) one thing i don't understand is that can ammonia and nitrite be converted to nitrate in just 4 days of cycling ? shouldn't it take longer ? damn uneasy looking at the cloudy water FW didnt give me this problem patience is a virtue but damn LOL
  22. Alright thanks will post again here for future problems hahah
