  1. I recommend you go for Philips fl actinics...they are about 20 bucks for a 3' tube. They work the same as Coralife, only more than 50% cheaper. I dont know whats the deal with Coralife FL, they are very expensive. I think you pay a lot for the nice packaging...
  2. Do you have any powerheads in the tank??One of the fastest way to get your tank cycled is to provide a lot of circulation to the water. It is very impt that you have circulation in the tank to avoid "dead" water which could prolong the length of the cycle.
  3. ECMB, do you mean adding Livestock or Livesand??I don't know where you got livesand in Singapore but if you do have some then add it in. Not for livestock though, I'd make sure nitrite and ammonia is undetectable before adding any. Better yet, wait for nitrate to be undetectable as well! Cheers!
  4. Try to get a big container with a bigger surface area...i believe pails have pretty small surface areas that dont really do much for gas exchange...of cos get an air pump in the container
  5. yep....strength in numbers! i shall go get a few more tomorrow...anyone seen any at any LFS these few days???

    fishes to give

bawater, its ok...anyone seen any blue chromis lately at any LFS??i'd rather get a blue one than a green one, ...hard to find though
  7. Phang, is it the Flameback pygmy angel that you are giving away? Would love to have it....pick on clams you say? i have a clam though...hmmm
  8. Hi guys, The purple firefish(oldest resident to date) in my tank seemed to be getting bullied by newcomers. The damage is not significant however, just that the pff seemed to have shifted to another side of the tank. There's occasional chasing too. I find it a little strange as the pff has been in the tank longer and now he is getting pushed around by a 1.5" bi-color blenny!! And sometimes a royal gramma of a similar size...Would adding a few more pff give them more strength in numbers??What would be a good number?Do they form a harem?Anybody has any experience keeping pff or ff in groups? Please share your xp, thanks
  9. Morgan has his tank out in his porch directly under the sun, only covered by a piece of acrylic, as such his tank is always about 30C or higher even with a fan blowing. Guess what? He has all kinds of corals in his tank. Temperature might not be the deciding factor here.
  10. Every Friday??That means today! Alrighty then, guess I'll pop by and take a look. You sure they close at 9pm??that's even better, thanks
  11. Guys, how goes the auto top off system??Is it for sale yet???It really does save a lot of time!
  12. Hi, anyone has any idea when does the marine livestock comes in each week at this LFS??? And I wonder about their opening hours too..I just called and no one picked up the line. Are they open 7 days a week? thanx

bawater, how big is the green chromis?
  16. Hi, I stay sort of in the west too. I am using a DI unit (which supposedly works better than RO,but if u have both, that'd be ideal) to clean up the tap water. You could get it at Marinelife at the west coast. Claims to filter up to 1600 litres before recharging....HTH
  17. orgas, For $50 bucks, you could probably get the 55watts tube. The common 36w should be way lower. However, Coralife's 36W is about $50, whereas Aqualux's is like half of that, or less. HTH
  18. Sealife is nearer towards the other end of Balestier Road. Balestier Hill Shopping Centre (hardly a shopping centre if u compare it with what we have today) is directly opposite Thomson Medical Centre near the cross-junction of Thomson Road and Balestier Road, while Sealife is nearer to Whampoa Market/hawker centre, nearing the entry into CTE toward AMK and Rangoon Road.
  19. http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSum...sname=coccineus It does look like the one found at the link above...Ruby Cardinal...hmmm..there are 463 cardinal fishes when I looked up fishbase..gosh..
  20. A pic of the fish in the package against my re-structured 3ft tank -- for a better indication of its size.
  21. Hi guys...went to Chinatown to have a looksee after work today and bought a dimunitive fish on impulse. I know I should check it out first before purchase, but it does seem harmless...so wot the heck, I got 2 fishes at present only anyway...now..how about some ID???? It is at most 1 inch in length.
  22. Well I got them from all over...mostly from Reef World and Marinelife, I have had them for at least a few years already - so the coraline has grown more than when it came to me initially. Shapewise, Reef World used to have rather light-weight rocks with really nicely (awkwardly) shaped rocks - not those that I seen lately at LFS's lately with mostly flat pieces. Flat pieces are good for building overhangs though....cheers...
  23. Alright thanks...thought I could visit the site since the actual place is miles away, and I'd probably get lost find my way there anyway...
