  1. This is off topic but I just have to say - I HATE MANTIS SHRIMPS. Had some for dinner at Turf Club seafood restaurant before though, they are quite tasty, despite their notorious nature in reef aquariums.
  2. Hi guys, got a potter's some days back at Sealife from Peter. Told me the fella was definitely feeding on mysid. I asked him to try some but the fish didnt seem too interested. I hesitated for some time, as my first intent was to get the flame and i have always heard that potter's are one of the hardest to keep among the pygmies. But I told myself, "How often do you come across a fat healthy looking Potters that is ascertained to be feeding frozen mysis shrimp by the LFS?" Well, Peter didnt look much like a liar so took a chance and brought the pretty little thing home. To date, besides foraging on the sandbed, rocks and among the macroalgae , the Potters hasnt sniff at a single thing I threw into the tank. I have tried - frozen brine, lobster eggs, wardley's total marine flake, nori. What else can I try? Any of you have a Potters that you wish to share your experience??Please do ! Thanks
  3. Hi some stalks of the green algae you wanted are extending its roots, ...if you still keen, can come and free load off me for your refugium, just gimme a buzz
  4. Iraq so big how to miss??!It'd be more forgivable not to find S'pore.
  5. WEdgee, Read that your tank is only about a month old from another post. A month may be too soon to say that the corals are fine. I hate to disappoint you but I have been through it myself, corals disintegrate slowly....their growth is hardly visible on a daily basis. Wait a few months, and see if the corals are still ok.
  6. Wedgee, to answer your question 4, sounds like it was expelling zooxanthellae. If I'm not wrong, that's the stuff that photosynthesize and provide food for photosynthetic corals. Perhaps your light source is inadequate, hence the expulsion, but i believe some of the guys here would have a better explanation.
  7. Digital thermometers are easier to find, believe any ordinary freshwater LFS should have...price range about 15 to 25.... i am using a Hagen one, cant remember how much i paid for it though..
  8. Thanks for the heads up...will Night World have a repeat telecast?
  9. USD 15,000 tank At USD20 per kg of LR, sometimes you have to be so glad you are a reefer in Singapore...
  10. Yep...still fumbling with my G2 after all this time...
  11. tell me about it...those are giant spider crabs ! scary
  12. Sailfins are pretty easy to maintain...they are pigs!!
  13. mv3i, you could try getting a digital PH probe at Marinelife. I believe it costs about 200 bucks a piece.
  14. Never quarantine! Only do the normal acclimatization......
  15. Stenopus, What is the shutter speed/s you use when you snap without flash??
  16. Hey why cant glass be used as a shelter instead of polycarbonate sheet??Too heavy? Does octopus eat flatworms??Hmmm....
  17. Hey guys, with the hike in GST next year to 5%, I wonder how much LR would cost then???!!! What about the rest of the livestock and accessories???Or are LFS going to follow NTUC's footsteps and absorb the additional GST?I have my doubts....
  18. I saw some fairy wrasses at Reborn a couple of weeks ago..last week went again they were all gone...I suspect yours might be an duller mutation?
  19. Yep...especially if there are any flame hawks..i want to know!! Thanks
  20. No squabbles between those angels??hmm... Dont mind me but the tank looks a bit too small to house those angels.
  21. Seriously, I doubt any of the fishes found in our local LFS are net-caught. If claimed to be cyanide free, they are probably poisoned by something else...I would boil it down to sheer luck for suvival rate after all has been done to make sure the fishes get the best stree-free environment to stay in. Luck....and a deep pocket
  22. Unless of cos you place your corals all on higher ground, that would be a different story...
