Yes, i think by default the valve is opened all the way???it is parallel to the outflow as is...and i have off the skimmer and turned it on..and emptied a few cupfuls of water..sigh...should i empty the water in the column too??that is...take out the entire skimmer from the tank...and drain all the water in the skimmer...??
-
Not at all...btw, the canister is totally not connected to the skimmer...while i was messing with the canister, the skimmer was still running...there was chemipure and hydrocarbon in the canister and i replaced the chemipure with polyfilter...that's all...

DArn ...the knob adjustment didnt work....
-
Thanks guys...will fiddle with the knob for a bit... i am guessing maybe the salinity dropped a little (1 cup)...as i added some water into the canister to seal it..strange...

Guys, how do you rectify this problem?? i am using an extrema pump rated up to 2189l/h for my weipro 2012..it was working fine tuned to the max level for a while. after messing about with a canister filter that has nothing to do with the skimmer...water bubbles started flowing into the cup..i minimized the pump rate to the minimum but still the water bubbles overflow after a while...i am not sure what to do now...help!
-
Hey ppl...my weipro 2012 was working fine with the sicce extrema tuned to the max before i took out the canister filter to put in some polyfilter. After i replaced the canister filter..i looked up and saw the skimmer cup was half filled with water...before the change there was only a thin layer of skimmate... questions: 1) what caused the water to suddenly start overflowing into the cup when i did not do anything to the pump 2) how do i get it to work properly again? i minimized the pump rate of the extrema pump to the minimum already, and yet the water and water bubbles are flowing into the cup still, fast filling up the cup with clear water... besides, should i be gettting the pump rate to the maximum?so as to allow more air to be sucked in or so i read somewhere...? Also note that the water level in the skimmer remained the same at the 2nd black ring... Thanks!!need to get it running again before going to bed...
-
Thanks for the reply...ok...i am using the same pump as you...and with it turned to the max, the water level is right smack in the middle of the second black ring..the bubbles have been churning in the column for at least the past 5,6 hours, and it is seemingly clear with no visible scum...i reckon thats not normal...i have never used such a "big" skimmer before in my experience with marine aquariums...so far have only used the small air-stone driven one for a few months...but even that showed more scum than this one... i read in another post and someone said it took him "only" 2 days for the skimmate to be produced...and now you mentioned immediately...hmm..a bit confused already...sorry i am really quite new to skimmers...perhaps i'd let it run a couple of days more and see what happens...

Never knew one has to add any special food for macroalgae???I thought they take in whatever nutrients(from feeding, etc) in the water column and just photosynthesize????Dodgy product mun...

FWIW, the rubber hose worked..
-
maybe use a small piece of rubber hose as a joint??would that stop the leak?going to try...

Hey guys, Been hearing lots of good reviews on the WEIPRO hangon series...just curious..how long does it take for an SA 2012 to work..as in..how long does it need before any skimmate is visible? Also wondering which pumps are you using for this particular model? Thanks for any inputs.

Shucks...looks like you all are snatching up the RGs before i even get there...dohhh..please leave some for me to choose can??no wheels until weekend so its kinda hard to get there right now...sighhh Anyway, its generally a bad idea to keep grammas with dottybacks...esp when the dottyback is the initial inhabitant...but orchid dottybacks..hmm...heard they are pretty docile...

) For me I was drawn to the hobby whilst serving NS...but got no time and no money so then i could only get a book to read...then uncle gave up his discus hobby and donated his tank to me at the end of 1997...the rest is history

Let's see who's the oldest bird in da family...heh

Yep, mine bit off the eye of one cleaner shrimp once too....gruesome.. I think his tank is stocked with... flamehawk, moorishidol, orchid dottyback, black & purple tang, flame angel, several cleaners, one bloodshrimp and a GARGANTUAN royal gramma!
-
Hi, Which of you have them hawks who attacks newcomers incessantly until they perish??Or preys on cleaners or bloodshrimps or shrimps in general? I am just asking around as sort of a survey, cos i want to know if I am just the unlucky chap who owns a fearsome hawk. I have seen blue devils who are tamer, i think, geez Anyway I have mine for like more than a year I believe, and after a long while of not adding any livestock, I am just starting to add some again. So far, it seems he has murdered 1x flame angel, 1x tomato clown, 1x some dark colored blenny. He's been trapped since and its in a basket while I get the newcomers to accustomized to the tank first before letting the sob out. Think that's a better idea?Or do I really have to get rid of him?? The one in Henry's tank is pretty large, and dont bother the rest of the folks none. Thats what my first flame hawk was like ...doh..!

SERI-OUS?? Okie dokes...someone pls go verify and wots the asking price for them fishes??
-
But of cos.... Thing is...well if the fish sticks around, then its worth paying for, even for a $3 common clown, it won't be worth paying for if you can't keep it alive for long, yah?

seamonkee, I is looking for the royal gramma as well...anyway, talked to PR today, they said they are negotiating to bring in blackcap basslets soon...maybe you want to wait? they said they are not going to carry any common livestocks..cos of too much competition...they gonna go for the exotic ones.... let's wait and see..
