  1. Nice little fishy, looks like lunch for lions...hmmm
  2. Older than you would want them. About a year i think. If you want to use them just for aesthetics, then it's definitely okay. But not if you intend to photosynthesize your corals with them.
  3. Got a brand new 10,000k JBJ 36W PL... PM me if u want.
  4. Got 2 old Phillips actinic blue 3'...u want?
  5. Hi...got a tad bit of a Valonia problem in the tank. Anyone seen at of these crabs at any of the LFS lately?? Thanks guys.
  6. typrobin, a tempting idea, but at this point in time, too much trouble..ha..actually have a friend in the lighting industry that offered to make a MH fitting for me after he successfully made his own one...but i told him i'd wait till i get a bigger tank..hah
  7. i wish i could, but the lighting is in the way.....DOH..
  8. Just gone out to get an AC fan (i think)...size about 5" by 5"...i placed it blowing across the top of the water surface...cooled it down by 1 degree thereabouts only...shucks ...
  9. typrobin, hmm..so your fan is blowing directly onto the water and not across the surface...which is more effective actually? Or is it the same? And where do i get these AC fans? I am guessing you have to DIY the part to attach to the tank
  10. Thanks pple, fortunately i am not using MH (sour grapes..)...my lighting consists of 4x36w PL and 2x30w FL. How much on average are these fans then? Am thinking of getting a set of 4fans...retailing at about $65 at an LFS nearby...price ok?
  11. I had a bi-colour angel once which I kept in a 1.5ft tank that had nothing but sand and macroalgae. It did well for about 6mths and then one day i found it dry and stiff on the floor beside the tank. A suicide victim. Maybe it was too lonely being the only fish??
  12. Hi, reckon some of us here who can't afford chillers have to resort to such fans...I wish to know how well they work. With a certain number of fans, how many degrees can they bring down the temperature of a say, a 3ft tank? Thanks for answering. With recent heat wave, my tank is going to 31C and boiling...
  13. $12 for 401 $15 for 402 $5 for the small powerfilter $10 for the ballast
  14. 2 of the 401s come with attached filter containers...actually 402
  15. Hagen 401 powerhead (3 units) $12 each
  16. Interpet ballast for FL tubes.. for 36 to 40 watts tube $10
  17. Sicce Idra water pump for sale. Max rate 1300 litres/hour Only 2 weeks old.
  18. Yes, where there's stagnant water, diatoms tend to grow on your tank walls...
  19. Maybe a picture would help?? Or more description, like is it slimey, velvety to the touch, bright green etc,etc... There could be various kinds of green algae growing around...so..
  20. Glad to hear that...I remember there was a time when i was happy with my tank too until my cuke nuked it and all my fishes were wiped out in a span of 2 hours. Imagine my heartache...
  21. Hey, just wondering how many of us are CONTENTED with the livestocks in our tanks that we stop adding new stuff into it ?? How many of us actually have a fully stocked tank that has been running for a while? If not, do most of us spend money week in week out at the LFS, replacing dead specimens or just hoping that the tank at home could sustain just one mroe coral, or just one more fish ?? Hmmm...
  22. ocean, compared to me, i think you came off as rather lucky. I believe it was a couple of years ago when I replaced a black cuke with another cos it was too big. Only a few days later, my entire tank was wiped out, leaving only a few corals. At least a flame hawk, yellow tang, sailfin tang, 2 ocellaris and a dwarf angel passed on. The black cuke was never found. Interestingly, the first one which did ok in the tank had little pricks on its body. The one with wmd felt velvety to the touch. Was tempted to get another one at ML recently cos of their small sizes. But they felt exactly like the killer one i had, so it was an awful reminder and I choose to maintain my tank cuke-free. BTW, it was a mere 2 hours between ok and massacre.
