  3. Went LFS visiting and couldn't resist the temptation to add more corals: And FTS update: And the Kole Tang seems to be doing well and pecking all over the place, but still not really taking food from the water column
  4. Thanks! I actually thought it is kinda cluttered in my sump cabinet.
  5. And I am nervous about this new addition today:
  6. Here's an update today, 33 days after start of tank cycling (photo intensive):
  7. Hi fellow reefers, Thought its time I start a thread on my tank. I have been out of the reefing community for about 3-4 years and now coming back to the hobby. The new tank is a shallow W30" by D30" by H20" and official cycling started slightly more than a month back. Most of the live rocks used are transferred from my previous 3' x 2' x 2' which have been left under the maintenance (or lack of) by my brother. Here are some pics taken initially: The remaining life stocks from the previous tank which include 2 true percs, 1 Fiji blue devil damsel, 1 Randall goby and a couple of snails were transferred to their new home after about 3 weeks of cycling.
  8. Set sold and collected by a nice reefer. Thanks!

  16. I think I may have bumped into you with another bro at ML during lunch. Was there to buy food too. Somehow connected when you said you bought the shrimps during lunch ... cos I remembered someone asking Henry about the shrimps in his display tank.
  17. Hmmm.....the shrimps?? Were you at ML during lunch?
  18. Not a pro la ... just that it seems jervis is using the same dslr as i am using now and I am also currently exploring the camera - thought that I should share a little.
  19. Yes, setting a faster shutter speed will freeze the movement of the fishes and to maintain correct exposure, you will need to open up your aperture accordingly if you are not already at your maximum aperture (lens dependent). If you are aready at your maximum aperture, the other thing you can do is to use a higher iso setting. You can set it all the way to 1600 iso for your alpha100 if you don't mind the noise. If all the above still fails, it means your lighting condition of the tank is too dark to be captured succesfully and u either turn on flash (which spoils the lighting effect), upgrade to a better lens with a bigger maximum aperture (usually more expensive), or shoot under better ( = brighter) lighting condition.
  20. Very nice fish. Too bad its too big for my tank.
  21. Everything looking good!! Those gionos are gorgeous. Anyway, regarding the hitchhiker on the clam shell, they look like tunicates to me - filter feeders and looks like its not doing any harm to the clam. I will just leave them there.
  22. Thats a Centropyge boylei (peppermint angelfish) ... a very very rare and expensive fish.
