    the photo below show 6 days of skimming. Am i over skimming my tank. basic tank info. 230gal DT bm curve 9 skimmer 9 chromis 2 blue tang 2 tomato 1 maroon on iso box 1 gobby 1 cleaner shrimp few cuc 2 lps 8 soft corals 4 cubes frozen mysis per day few pellets for cuc and gobby phytoplankton twice a week weekly supplement iodine calcium reef traces

    im using skimz. bought it during buy 2 free 1 promotion @ aquamarin.

    im reducing some bioload so im giving away 6 of my blue green chromis. they are pellet, flakes and mysis train. swimming in group all the time. its a very hardy fish they will survive even with trace of ammonia and nitrite. pick up @ admiralty drive ill catch it later if someone confirm. thanks.

    Mine close up for a whole week when i purchase it. About 30 % open up the next week then about 50% the week after. Now about 90% are open i dont even know if the others are still alive but i dont see them melting. Give it some time but if its more than a week and it still closed up ill try to move it to a better flow or light.

    dont worry about diatoms bro and its a good sign that life is already present in your tank. it only lasted about a week on my tank. i scrub it off my glass then did a water change. my skimmer skimmed them all along with the nitrates and posphate. for now im keeping soft only corals, blue tang, blonde naso, pair of clown and school of chromis. for starter LS i highly suggest to start with b/g chromis. good luck with ur tank bro.

    diatom starts to pop up at the end of the cycling process where you have plenty of nitrate, phospate and silicate. i also have 5ft tank and just had my diatom bloom after a month i set up my tank. cool looking tank, im gonna camp here.

    Scrub it off before you do water change it helps.

    saw one last tuesday at aquamarin. give them a call maybe they still have it. you got your new tank?

    +1 test for all 3 to make sure ammonia is being process to nitrite and then to nitrate

    bought mine on c328 4kg per pack. just dont forget to wash it several times before putting it inside your tank.
