Is your refractometer calibrated? I made this mistake on first day and my salinity went up to 1.3++ after i calibrated it. good thing i dont have any LS and just cycling.

diatoms main food is silicate, nitrate and phosphate. the reason you havent seen any yet is coz ur nitrate and phosphate is probably still low. i still got a minor bloom in my tank after a month of cycle but i got the silicate from the sand and not from rodi water.

yes its true thats why you need to make sure water parameters are good and the shrimps are feeding. mine always climb the rocks when its feeding time and immediately grab the cut market shrimp out of my hand.

if they have shed several times and no drastic changes on your water condition. i always hand feed my skunk shrimp with cut prawn so they wont steal food from my sun corals every night.
