  1. well try reducing the flow first .. as our tap water is around 60-70 i guess. ur DI is still effective
  2. Your ionic imbalance is very serious and i would advice u to do water change with a good saltmix for a start of 50% and then monitor. do not add any additive now. i dun think your problem come from ME salt as most reefer has very good result with the saltmix. anyway do u dose the additive all at one go ? This too will cause the reading to go haywired. Generally Calcium and Magnesium can add on same day but preferably 30min to 1 hour apart . Buffer at other days. Ur Calcium and Magnesium is very low and Maybe u can try to raise it to 1.025. Are u using a refractometer ?
  3. Does SPS really absorbed so much calcium and carbonat... i have temporary let go of my current SPS as i face kH prob. the last reading before water change was Calcium 300 ( alarming !!!!!) , Magnesium 1240 .. pH at 8.44 and kH is unstable , nutrient undetachable. After 20 % water change with ME and adding biocalcium and aragamilk. Calcium 364. magnesium 1320, pH at 8.31, kH at 8-9. No chance to use the Grotech new series of additive as yet ! Will try to upz the Calcium by aragamilk and bio calcium . now can relaxed a bit and after this ordeal really set mi thinking of getting a calcium reactor . Just incase some of u guys wanna try distill water , the last reading i got from LIFE distilled water is 1ppm which is better than my DI water at 4 ppm . need to slow down the flow i guess. =)
  4. for a start for ur ANN cycle. get ammonia , nitrite, nitrate testkit . after which phosphate is one of the most important testkit . after ur water stablise , get kH ( alkalinity ) magnesium / calcium... feel rich enough, get iodide/strotium/boron ...=) must be super excited by your new tank ya ! oh yes, salifert/tropic marine is recommended
  5. it depend whether u wanna achieve wet skim or dry skim... many advocate wet skim and tune it to the fullest without it overflow into the skimmer collection cup.
  6. well... at least u know it sleep everyday ... everyday is a new hope
  7. power of deltec ... guess u have no complain over this skimmer. i personally prefer my MCE 600 over the biostar flotor .. hee hee... =)
  8. http://www.deltecaquariumsolutions.com/PF509.pdf under general operation part D.
  9. Hi guys , Can anyone tell mi what is the best kH to maintain SPS coral. just read from deltec website under the calcium reactor that the kH above 10 is not recommended as it will lock the ions in the system to prevent utilise. However additive for Grotech suggest 10. 10 seem good as my kH tend to drop with time and a very experience reefer told mi that kH should not drop by 1 within a day and to maintain at 8-9 . anyone has any advice for mi? TIA
  10. WOW... the colour of the anemones is so intense . it is always great to see clownsishes exhibit their natural habit with an anemones .
  11. u must have spend quite some time collecting those beautiful zoo .
  12. good to see reefer with passion for their fishes . hey what is the fish in the second bag
  13. u have very nice collection of zoo ...
  14. reefpack is top notch. good choice
  15. wow... that is a great piece of equipment . more more. any problem of micro bubble?
  16. i think Am bring in some apstasia eliminator like joe's juice . soemthing like that
  17. ya clownfishes are the easiest to catch when they sleep. once u know their hideout, it s easier . of course not when it is deep inside the rock la .
  18. Hi, i used to clean my pH probe weekly by brushing it with a soft toothbrush, however i realise that my probe have a small patch of coralline algae which i dun want to scratch the glass surface. can i dip it in vinegar. will the low pH affect the probe in anyway ? or is there a better way. right now i dip my probe in fresh water . forget to brush the probe last week. TIA
  19. i go for simple stuff. 2 x tunze nano 6055 with a multicontroller .
  20. i used to use it before salt mix .
  21. tapwater contain silicate which fertilize the growth of diatom. watch out 2 main water nutrient ie phosphate and nitrate. current do play a part . UV does help to lower the amount of diatom in the water if they pass through the column. the UV will destroy the DNA of the spores and live diatoms when they pass through the UV column.
  22. haha.. will slowly aquire what i really need. hee hee. bro jervis, ur recommendation aar ... super super siong leh ! haha the controllabble nano tunze is great but expensive for mi. what i dun like about tunze nano is they come with 2 pin instead of the usual 3 pin plugs. now maintain my calcium with aragamilk which i feel it is economical ATM. my nitrate is undetachable using tropic marine and was comtemplating about water change now hee hee. getting lazier and lazier. the hamilton bulb is great . yeah . jem, i need the bulb as spare ATM, will tell u again .
