  1. Low pH and ways to rectify it 8.04 look okie to me =) when did u take this reading, if u take it at night after your photoperiod, i think it is a decent reading. pH fluatuate and been to highest prior to switching off your light. all your parameter look okie, however i am very doubtful of your magnesium reading . Can i know what test kit are u using? Your tank had reached extreme phosphate condition at 1mg/l == 1ppm, and i recommend a water change .
  2. upz. willing to listen to reasonable offer.
  3. u also have a traffic light huh
  4. Have one 150watt MH from Giesemann. Complete with Hamilton 14000k and hanging kit. selling at 320 dollars . interested pls pm mi . ballast is from tridonic atco
  5. acrylic are ozone safe , plastic are not ...
  6. rightfully it should go to you ... well uncle kennethk and uncle fishtalk always give in to ah boy hammy mah
  7. plenty over at iwarna.. go grab it share half with bro kennethk and he allow mi to have the better half
  8. new clam that fishtalk had gentlemanly offer me to have it
  9. cyclopeeze ? always heard difficulties in rearing PBT from other reefers.
  10. no lah ... i dun feel offended .
  11. And your sand bed problem is cleared ! look like u just vacuum bro
  12. those on the sandbed is definately algae ya ? wow, ur prameter are in check . in fact reaching optimal. care to share what's in your tank and your equipment list and maintainence regime?
  13. somehow i believe that your gonio is bleached . ba careful of the algae around . it will overun the gonio very soon if you dun take care of your algae. i believe that the phosphate and nitrate u introduce through X-factor to your tank is the main cause of the algae boom. do solve your algae problem if u wanna take good care of the gonio. any full tank shot
  14. this thread set me thinking too. This hobby is definately one of the most high energy consumption activities ( in term of human as well as fuel too =) ) Maybe i should just decom ... just kidding i cant. The ever increasing electrical bill is already encouraging most reefer to spend on higher efficient equipments, not to mention the guilt of killing specimens without the wisdom of keeping them. i guess no one can take care of the coral as well as the sea, must as well leave it to the sea? i beg to differ. What reefers need are the knowledge before plunging into the hobby. i have known many reefers who had propagate coral as their motivation of reefkeeping and that is very encouraging . we are capable to give the conditions for the coral to propagate. Make Propagation a lifestyle. for reefers who just wanna a great reef looking tank, maybe should look into the costs of maintaining and keeping them healthy too. it is not cheap, very exorbitant indeed. ( i wonder whether i will be a million richer without this hobby ) As most failed due to lack of maintainence, some fail because they are unwilling to spend . depending on the budget and system ability, reefer should also have the knowledge to know what he can keep and what he cant. i remember talking to friend that says he wanna keep this coral , that coral.... but he dun want skimmer , dun want expensive lighting , dun want ........ as for high energy consumption part, the most logical is to invest in efficient equipment to minimise energy consumption. However efficient equipment dun come cheap too haiz ..... but for long term into the hobby, some will be happier when they look at their electrical bill too. We still need electricity in the hobby. almost no way out. Natural way such as deep sand bed and utilisation of algae is good to reduce maintainence and improve reef health, but electrical power still need to be employed to a certain extend. Maybe what we can do ... use less plastic bag? ( Today NTUC dun give plastic bag remember )
  15. using hyposalinity is great to control parasite as they are unable to survive under hypo conditons( 1.009) and all parasite will roughly be gone in about 8 weeks. However at 1.013, i believe the stronger parasite still linger on. At hyposalinity condition, u have more other worrying stuff. it is more difficult to maintain your kH and pH and would render your skimmer almost useless. At the same time a good skimmer is beneficial for FOWLR since the bioload is gonna be high for sure. at lower salinity , the fish will ' breath ' easier but not to the entend of so low. Salinity. - The water surrounding a marine fish is more concentrated than the body fluids of the fish and so osmosis constantly draws water from the fish. This is why Hypo salinity during quarantine (only do so for fish only) reduces stress on fish since their bodies do not have to work as hard against osmotic pressures. To prevent dehydration, saltwater fish must drink, with the salt that they imbibe being excreted via the mucus secreting glands of the skin,in the feces, but primarily from the kidneys and the gills. Sudden raising of the salinity will dramatically upset this delicate balance stressing or even killing the animal. DO NOT lower your aquarium's salinity level below normal in the mistaken belief that in doing so is good for the fish over the long term, it is harmfull to the fish, causing kidney failure. -- from Information extracted i also have the same advice for you as bigbird to bring back your s.g. slowly to recommended level =)
  16. If you see diatoms grow on the skeleton of corals (LPS) you have too much silicate in the water and encrusting diatoms are the result. These grow upwards and can and will in many cases harm your corals by pushing the polyp out of their way resulting in the polyp tissue detaching from the coral skeleton. You need to intervene to remedy this by lowering the silicates in your tank to below 0.5 ppm. Tissue that recedes on corals is often the beginning of more serious problems that lead to the loss of specimens. Do not let it happen. Keep you silicate levels low and deal with encrusting diatoms immediately before they do any damage. -- from Living Reef did u check your phosphate ?
  17. just gotton some frag from some reefer this one look like star polyp
  18. Good luck bro ... i saw u during the mental health paper and was like writing till my pen break haha. u have very unique scaping and yup the sandbed near some care bro . just bought 1 litre of ROWAphos from C328 because i feel mine is exhasting too .
  19. is the price difference of a black tang very different between Singapore and HK? what is worth to buy ? My galfriend immediately mention to me that the new travel rule is no > 100ml of fluid on board the plane now when i ask her to bring back a BT from HK =)
