The diatoms will thrieve better in conditions with stronger lighter because afterall they are still plant. Higher lighting give them better chance to photosynthesize. Some ways to control ur algae is to control ur phosphate level. change water to lower ur nitrate, control ur feeding and increase current flow =)

what u could do now is really to enhance the immunity of your fishes such as feeding ur fishes with garlicguard mysis and brine . installed a UV . or an ozone .

the only sure way to cure ich is copper treatment and hyposalinity and unfortunately they are not suitable of u are having a reef tank. ich will not harm ur coral. The ich parasite will be gone in ur tank if u leave it fishless for about 8 weeks. Hyposalinity
