hhaa... now that my tank worth thousand upon thousands in the US ... thank God i am in singapore haha

share wilth us ur water parameter ?? clarkii clown belong to special type of damselfish because of the symbolic behaviour with anemones and they do not die easy . if u didnt properly cycle the tank and keep water change for more than 50% most of the time, ur LS is atually suffering most of the time . yes , tank is small and managable but not easy .
-
quite common when tank are undergoing cycling . IMO , dun really need to do anything , just scrub the whitishish stuff off and that's it . let the filter clean out the stuff . ur ammonia should be sky roketing , that's why all stuff are dying . dun thro away the live rock to the flowerpot , proper curing will regain it's glory. change water will result in the same outcome because the rock is still rotting because many organism are dying , just scrub off the rotting part and circulate the water well.

fresh water never work for mi , maybe i administer incorrectly . however hypo and copper is still the confirmed effective way to eliminate marine ich .

haha... same same . pico == very small tank nano==small tank then pple will ask how small is considered small . to me , it doesnt matter .

PL or sometimes PLC is compact light . stronger than FL in term of penetration power . of course it give out lotsa heat . if u wanna use PL for LPS , i would recommand 2 x 55 watts PL for a 2 feet , however wtch out for heating problem. it cost around 150 dollars for this set up . the best for 2 feet is still T5 HO , and it range from 98 - 198 dollars . T5 is so much cooler and the maintainance is cheaper option since T5 tubes are more readily available now due to the market demand. T5 HO has higher penetration power and will be suitable for 2 feet set up . the above option still need a fan for a reef to thrieve. unless u wanna spend money on a chiller , MH is not suitable for nano.

Better, more expensive equipments = better reef?

IMO... not necessary so .. but the sad news sometimes is inevitably yes -
been using a UVC since my last ich outbreak. switch on 24/7 and is working well for mi .just attach to my external filter .

just to share some experience , mine royal gramma one fine day went missing and i only found it when i decided to clean my eden wavemaker . do check your pump if u have a very strong powerhead.
-
fading ?? bleaching ?? maybe u can provide us a more detailed water parameter ? it will be easier to answer your question . like ur lighting , flow etc ...

around 1.5l a day using ac fan for my 2 feet ....

after u hit the ' add reply' ... go right at the end of the reply window and hit ' attachment '

try feedig the sun with meaty food such as prawn or silver fish. normally it will open after light out . i dun keep sun as i think it is troublesome. they need to be target feed . moderate light flow will do. hope it help.

yup , it will fail eventually . some time ago , some reefer suggested using 2 same pumps to pump water from the main tank , and the other from the sump to the main . but it will fail eventually as due to wear and tear from different individual pump. water siphon out from ur main tank is at a constant rate whereas water pump back to the tank is dependent on the pump itself . due to wear and tear , the pump will exhibit different flow rate even though at the smae setting as time passes. suggest u get a overflow box for the faster way to solve ur prob.

anyway crash due to ?? it's a sign for u to start a bigger and build a better tank. look on the brighter side man .

dunno whether some of the reefers here experience star polyp not opening after sometime . one of my star polyps rocks just one fine day decide not to open anymore . some of the changes i have make is stop dosig DT and change it to marine snow . after observing that it had not open for 2 days , i was really panicking . and heard that if it does not open for too long , it wil die of hunger . anyway i dose seachem reef plus yesterday and it is blooming again . just like yesteryears ... yeah =) maybe my tank lack of some ions need for the bloomig for star polys . just some experience to share .

3 wise man ?? do u all know that the bible never mention that there are only 3 wise men. in fact there could be more ... the fact that pple deduce that there are 3 wise men is because 3 gifts were given to Christ when He is borned anyway Christmas is a day for me to remember my Lord , celebrate His birth and let's other know the good news . and of course , a family day... my free day, my receiving present day.... i love Christmas

i use seatest and coralife hydrometer. only during my hypo treatment for my main tank , i use refractometer.
-
talking about the jebo hang on skimmer/ filter? personally i dun think that works efficiently as compare to other. but should be good enough if u are just keeping fishes for ur tank size . just my preference . invest in a good skimmer and u will have less trouble in the later stage
-
haha... actually no special conditions . if i am not wrong, just put the eggs into one bottle of saltwater from ur tank and air pumped it . it will hatched pretty fast i think. but i lazy lah
-
once ur basic parameter such as calcium and magnisium are correct, couple with good flow and blast it with actinic light, coralline algae will grow .
-
a refractometer is used to measure the specific gravity of our saltwater through reflective index. given that light refract at different angle at different medium. an accurate piece of equipment .
