  1. Get MicroBacter7. Go for the bigger bottle as it's quite dilute and needs to be added daily for the first week. After that it's once a week. I prefer this over the Prodibio range of bacteria as I have used both in cycling my new tank and it's the MicroBacter7 that's really speeding up the bacteria growth.
  2. May not be the best around. But u should look around. My advise for return pump would be reliability over anything else. One failure and u get a flood happening in your house.
  3. Read somewhere on this forum that the tank must be 3 times the length of the shark's full grown size. Lol! Doubt u can fit a tiger/black tip/great white shark into any tanks in Singapore
  4. I think the choice is pretty obvious if u are looking for something reliable. But both choices are pretty high Watt pumps which translate to heat in the tank. You can might want to consider the Hydor 1150 as well. Runs only on 7W and produces about the same flow rate. And its super tiny http://freshnmarine.com.sg/estore/product_info.php?products_id=4298
  5. Haha! Now u know who are the culprits for the rising water temperatures.
  6. Might want to prepare salt mix but with lesser salinity.
  7. Bro.. How deep is your tank? I know Vincent from Aquarium Artist is having a discount on his Lumen Aqua LED as he is clearing stock. Might wanna call him and ask for his selling price.
  8. Cool! Looks like something I wanted to buy online but too expansive. Maybe I should DIY a magnetic frag rack into a magnetic rock using concrete or putty to form random rough surface
  9. Grease them up regularly. the grease will leave a protective layer over the hinges.
  10. Eh .. Using Iceprobe chiller without thermostat. Was thinking cos if I didn't change the chiller timer. There shouldn't be too much of a fluctuation in temperature. Think I should start looking out for a proper chiller already. Thanks bro
  11. My tank have been up for 3 weeks but only managed to get hold of market prawns last Thursday to introduce the Ammonia spike. Have removed the prawns on Sunday since my ammonia has shot up to around 5ppm (took my Seneye free ammonia value of 0.245 and multiplied by 20). Currently ammonia still hanging around between 2ppm-5ppm. Nitrite is around 0.25 and Nitrate around 0.5. Ever since Thursday, my temperature have been shooting up really high (30-31 degrees) despite me not changing any setting on my chiller. For the 2 weeks before last Thursday, water temperature never exceeded 28 degrees. Anyone experience this too?
  12. Welcome Marine shops are not stocked up like freshwater fish shops because shipment comes in as and when it's available. I was pretty disappointed when I visited some shop at first until I realized why. Do check out the weekly livestock updates or the respective stores Facebook/website for info on their stock availability.
  13. I wouldn't be the best person to advise on this but I would not bet my new tank on wood that has been soak before
  14. Might want to keep track of 2nd hand sales going on at pasar malam. Aqua Illumination (AI), Radion, Orphek Atlantik and Maxspect are all good brands that u can look out for.
  15. There are some designer clowns at AM when I visited them a few days ago. Might wanna call and ask.
  16. Then I think have to blame it on luck already. Although 3 years is long, most tanks I know (especially big customised tanks) would last way longer then 3 years. But regardless .. I think now the important thing is to find a tank maker who can make a replacement tank for u so u can transfer your lifestock over. You might also need to get a new stand if it has been soaking up your tank water at the moment.
  17. Should be able to last ba. 10mm for that size is quite ok though I know some who will go for 12mm for that size. Do u scrub at ur silicon often?
  18. I know QianHu does put some medicine into the water to put the fish into a coma state before the trip.
  19. Looks like 0.25 to me. But like What Derrick said, re-do the test when unsure. There are some test kits that require a quick immediate viewing too. Not sure about Api though
  20. Usually that's the last thing to fail on you. Do u mind sharing your tank size and glass thickness?
  21. Mechanical filtration serves to trap debris in the tank but only until u physically remove it, the debris will still be in the tank and cause an ammonia spike which can be deadly. That's where the skimmer and other biofilters and bio pellets come into play. These remove or changes ammonia to nitrate which is safer but have no way to remove debris. Ideal will be to have both. But a simple mehanical filtration will be sufficient (if possible, DIY to combine with the bio filters so there is no need for extra pumps). Spend more time and money on your bio filters instead.
  22. Hahaha! Actually is u. Ur ship too distracting already. Didn't notice the LR first
