  1. Yups, read somewhere that they are different. Dun think it's possible.
  2. Haha slowly Mandrain should be coming up soon if I can find small ones. realized that there are lots of pods in my refuge already.
  3. So after 7 years away from the hobby, I decided to reignite my interest in this hobby Honestly .. Coming back wasn't easy. So many things have changed since then. Back then it was mechanical filtration > biofiltration. These days it's the other way round. Back then it was T5 now LEDs. Everything was new and a huge learning curve for me. (Of cos the money was a huge hole in the pocket too) This time I decided to do things slightly special. Decided to go for a custom nano tank, one that gives me the length to watch my fishes swim and yet containing just 55L of water. It's 90cm (L) X 20cm ( X 30cm (H) with 30cm of its length partitioned to form an IOS which stores my skimmer, chiller and a lovely Refugium. The narrow glass also meant big nice rocks would be risky. So Spongebob Bikini Bottom here I come! And SpongeBob says Hi! I have since removed all the small figurines as there were just too light to be in the tank. Keeps getting knocked over by the waves. Would be placing them in front of the tank though It has been 5 weeks since I started my cycle and the tank is now officially cycled. Both Ammonia and Nitrite reads zero and Nitrate reads 5. In the last few days, I have added a rock of small hairy mushrooms, a cleaner shrimp and 2 frags of really beautiful Zoas. Picture as of today: Current Equipment: Lights: AI SOL Blue Refugium lights: Lumnia Aqua White (Currently still uninstalled) Chiller: Iceprobe (it's maxed out on this tank. Thinking of upgrading to a proper chiller) Skimmer: Tunze 9004 Return Pump: Hydor 1150 Wavemaker: Jebao RW4 Biofiltration: 600g Biohome 19 2inch cubes of Marinepure (some sitting within the sandbed in the display area) Handful of red macro algae (came with lots and lots of pods)
  4. I used to have a pair of common clown (2inch) in a 2ft by 1ft by 1ft tank. In the second year of the tank I added a maroon (3inch). Their anemone got stolen and they had to settle for some caves in the rock. But luckily no chasing around the tank. Remained this way until I Decommed the tank. I think ultimately .. As long as there are enough hiding space for them or enough anemone, having 4 clowns should be ok. But got to be careful of the size of the clowns. Try to get clowns of same sizes. And do stay away from maroons. They can be pretty aggressive.
  5. AM has quite a few in different tanks. All very active and not shy to wander around.
  6. Haha slowly.. My diatoms bloomed like crazy on the forth week.
  7. People would usually do a custom tank for 4ft. Tank and cabinet alone would easily set u back $1-2k. Whether it is reef ready or not depends on what equipments u will be getting. The other way would be to camp around marketplace to look for a secondhand piece. Most secondhand tanks are really good deal and if it comes with everything it had, u could easily skip the cycling process too
  8. Bro, think it is better to turn off skimmer during cycling (unless u are cycling with live fishes). Else the skimmer will skim up all the decomposed things and nothing left for the bacteria to feed on
  9. Nitrate is ok. Ph try and get it between 7.8 - 8.3 ... 7.5 is way to low. Ammonia and nitrite will be quite crucial especially for new tanks. Try to get the kits.
  10. Clownfishes are usually pretty hardy fishes. Had 2 surviving in a tank of 30odd degrees before so I highly doubt it's the 31-32 degrees temperature that's ar fault. But then .. Is it constantly in the 31-32 range or does it changes greatly throughout the day? If the lowest temperature of the day is at 25-26 and the highest is 32 I think there is a need to worry about your temperature. Also .. Do u mind giving us your reading for salinity, ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?
  11. Bro, anymore Zoas frag available?
  12. Haha Snoopy's FTW meant For The Win. Meaning nothing beats those fishes he mentioned. Hmm.. I've seen some fire fishes schooling especially when there's like 6-7 of them together. But not sure if is their natural habit.
  13. Good idea .. Any clearer picture of both frags? I'm interested
  14. Bro, is it removable from the square plug or fixed already?
  15. I had flooding happened in my IOS tank a few days back. Water passage between compartments within the IOS got blocked by my skimmer accidentally and water can't flow to the return pump chamber. End up return pump emptied that entire chamber into my DIsplay area and flooded the tank. * I got a 20L IOS compartment. Lol! Painful experience.
  16. It's now the end of Oct and I have been running my Seneye for almost a month. Bought mine from Madpetz and he called the distributor on the spot to confirm that the slides will still be coming in I hook mine up to a netbook running 24/7. The netbook doesn't eat up a lot of electricity so it's alright helped me to track my tank cycling and helped me monitor my tank temperature. In fact the numbers are so convenient, I really wished that they come out with nitrite and nitrate sensors too. One thing to note though, the value for free ammonia does not translate to the ammonia reading that tests kits give. From what I read, we got to multiply that number by 20.
  17. Here u go http://depts.washington.edu/fhlk12/links/StudentProjects/Tun.biology.html
  18. Nope no where near. It has an opening at the tip of the come shape.
  19. Bro, managed to identify it le. It's a sea squirt.
  20. This is the biggest it will expend to. When closed its flushed to the rock. Not sure what u mean by white PE. Sorry >.< really bad with short forms.
  21. Bros, Need some help to ID this Hitchhiker that came along with my rock of mushrooms. It's the red "bulb" that is in the picture and it shrinks when touched. When persistently touched, it would shrink into a really small size and becomes as hard as the rock it is on. Once in awhile it would also "spit out" some black coloured "eraser dust" looking thing. It doesn't move and seems encrusted to the rock. Have tried to google it but no luck yet.
  22. Sorry .. forgot to leave my contact. Can sms/whatsapp me at 81331406.
  23. Any bros out there with spare Cheato or Macro Algae to give? Willing to collect from your place in exchange for a chilled bottle of Snapple Grape Many thanks in advance
  24. Some LFS sell them live. Get Them to start the population. Think would be good to call the LFS before heading down. If I remember correctly.. LCK and Marine Life are some LFS that carry.
