Bro.. For all livestocks, including anemone, u got to slowly add ur tank water into the bag that u got ur fish in from the fish shop. This is usually a 1-2 hour long process where u can either use a drip to drop ur tank water into the bag drip by drip or u can do what I do by adding a tiny bit of tank water (I use a syringe to add 1-2ml) into the bag every 5-10mins. The aim is to ensure that the fish is used to the water that is in your tank. Usually I prefer to be safe then sorry. So the longer this dripping process, the better. Once done, do not just pour out the entire bag into your main tank. Use a net to catch the fish out and add it into the tank. Sometimes the water that came from the fish shop might contain some nasty things bag you may not want. So again.. Better safe than Sorry.

Seeking help for nano tank setup!!
Edmund Koh replied to F&Mfishlover's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Camp around or give DE lighting a call. The price should be around your budget or just abit more. The ikea holder is $10. It's a simple table lamp with an E27 (reconfirmed this by bringing the bulb there to test.) holder. -
Hold the test cup up in the air and put the colour chart behind it. The side of the cup amplifies the colour of the solution allowing u to see the colour better. But then because it will look darker, u got to divide the result by 10. It's written in the instructions a lot easier this way

Hmm.. Budget? -
Keep ur skimmer off for at least 3-4 hours after each dosage. This will ensure that your bacteria is my skimmed out.

Seeking help for nano tank setup!!

Hmm.. Usually we would go for 1 to 3 watts per LED bulb. The tank isn't very deep so I think 3 watts is overpowered unless it comes with a dimming function. -
Haha! That's a cute thing to do. Mine gets pumped into the display tank by my return pump.

Hmm.. U got to share more about what u mean by bad shape. If there's picture of the whole tank from the front would be even better. -
Haha they ARE predatory
-
I have lots of them in my display too and they are multiplying like crazy. Time to get some mandarins.

Hmm.. I was initially planning for only a 2ft over length tank. That's why I got the iceprobe. Now that the tank is 1ft bigger, the iceprobe is really struggling. I recently hooked up a tempt controller to it but the weather have been really cooling so can't test it much. Iceprobe usually takes around an hour to get the temperature down but extended usage would not result in further reduction of temperature. I do think it will be able to get the temperature down by 2-3 degrees for a smaller tank.

Bro, I the bigger clown is the female. Hmm... How big is your RBTA?

They will appear soon enough. They always disappear for awhile then once they are comfortable enough they will come out

I would usually turn everything off when doing water change. This allows me to fully focus on removin dirt instead of having to worry that the water level is too low and my wavemaker and return pump start throwing out lots of air bubbles. Diatoms will be around. But we have control over where it will go. That's why people are using algae scrubbers (not the usual glass cleaners) which are designated areas away from the display where algae growth is being encouraged. The more algae grow there the less algae growing in your display.

Weekly Shipment Updates 03 Nov - 09 Nov
Edmund Koh replied to nwyk153's topic in Weekly LFS Stocks Report / LFS Info Centre
AM's shipment is tonight. Not sure what time though. -
diatoms will be there for at least the first few months. Especially if u feed ur lifestock a lot.

Nope Dosing bacteria is an ongoing process. For Bacter7 it's daily for a week when u start the tank and once a week after that. But I'm still dosing daily even after the first week. Just that I'm dosing a lot lesser then recommended. The idea is to maintain the active bacteria in the tank. Another thing to note is that bacteria that successfully removed Nitrate takes around 4-5 months to fully cultivate. On a side note: .. I love those Panda Gobys!

I just got a tailspot blenny. Fantastic algae eater. It was eating like it hadn't eaten for days.

The studies cannot be conclusive because many factors determine the lifespan of an LED. One of the biggest reason for failure of an LED would be Heat. Although LEDs are supposed to produce very little heat, most LED fixture comes very tightly packed causing a lack of heat exchange. Being an electronic component, heat can cause either the driver or the bulb itself to be burnt or worse still, melt the connections causing a short circuit. The other common reason for failure would be a wrong polarity connection. LEDs are built as one-way components. Driving a current the opposite direction may cause permanant damage to the LED. This usually shouldn't happen in well made products but I won't be surprise if this happens in a mass produced OEM item. So to avoid both of these issues, we would prefer going for well established LED brands like AI or Ecotech, etc. Then again .. All these easily costs close to a thousand for 1 and u would often need more then 1. I have seen some tanks with 6 - 8 AI Vega.

Hmm.. Not sure if I'm doing it right. But what I do is to set my alarm for every 5mins. Then everytime alarm rings I use my test kit syringe to add 1ml of water. I will do this for 1-2 hours. Usually the first few shots of tank water would cause the be fish some discomfort. But after awhile can see that even 2ml doesn't affect it anymore.

Those cobblestones are actually Marinepure Cermedia 2" cube biomedia. Bought too many for my sump so decided to add it into my display section. Hmm.. A real life Patrick is already in the tank. Added him together with both my true perc last Saturday. Looks exactly like Patrick. Haha! Hmm.. The frag rack is from AM. It's a Skimz magnetic frag rack. I like how it's nicely done up with very clean edges. But the bad thing is that the holes are not circular. They are "+" shaped slots. Meaning only Skimz frag plug can fit into it.

Haha better get rid of it. Else one day u decide u want to put expansive Zoas but u cant

If u consider T5 then go for a T5 lightset from an established brand. The electronics component in there together with the ability to control will greatly affect the light coming out of the same tube. Of cos a good set of tubes would also make a huge difference.

Bro nice tank Go easy on the livestock. Ur biofilters need time to adjust to the new bioload as well.

Sounds good maybe we can find a time to meet up at AM to get it together. Whatsapp me at 81331406
