  1. Thanks Firestarter... This is a good thread... Will be keeping my eyes opened on this one...
  2. Just white and blue Aquaray LEDs... Hoping to get a full spectrum soon...
  3. I used Red Sea phosphate-nitrate remover... Works for me in pushing both elements down within a few days to almost unnoticeable levels before I allowed my skimmer and chaeto to do their job of maintaining those baddies...
  4. I made a mistake of dosing medication into my DT... Man did I regret it... My skimmer was blowing bubbles and nitrate and phosphate shot up due to ineffective skimming... What I did was a 30% water change for 3 days consecutively... Although not recommended for you cos your parameters are pretty far off... The guideline is not more than 20 ppm calcium a day... If after a water change and the level is less than 20 ppm, you can actually change water the following day as well...
  5. That was what my wife liked... No choice... In order to get her to like the tank more, I allowed one addition of hers... LOL!
  6. Honestly, I had that thought as well... Physical removal of those algae is probably recommended as if you kill the algae, nitrate and phosphate will rise even further...
  7. Due to my fetish with angels as my name suggests, I could only make do with euphyllias and take my chances with goniopora and some SPS... Enjoy...
  8. I've moved into my new place for about 2 months... While stocking up with my older fishes, I introduced other fishes and at the same time, Marine Velvet... Took out all my beautiful angels and other fishes except my Maldives Fire Goby who is in my QT now... As such, my tank is now fish-less and I did what most of us would have done... Play with corals... Although not as well stocked as I hoped it would be due to the wife nagging and leftover coins jiggling in my pocket, I'm quite happy as a coral newbie... So here's a few unprofessional snap shots of my tank taken with a Samsung Note 3...
  9. Whoa... BN and digi are the easiest kept but still cannot survive... Most likely water parameters... Up the Ca and Mg and monitor again first...
  10. Actually tall tanks may not be able to keep octopus in as well...
  11. I'm not some guru... But some wise man told me before that for sps, Ca, Mg, dKh and salinity is a 'must monitor and maintain' thingy...
  12. Hmmmm... That seems to clear the doubts on temperature and fishes...
  13. So many guesses for now. Red Sea Coral Pro has much higher parameters than your current parameters with regards to Mg and Ca... Like what andtsg mentioned, it could also be your temperature and fish...
  14. You're half right about the bottomless part... The addiction is bottomless... But my money in my account has reached the bottom...
  15. You can start keeping difficult fishes if you can maintain your copepods population...
  16. One tiny sea hare came in with my rocks... It's nice to see a trail of white...
  17. Agreed... Ask Rudy17 and myself... We know it first hand...
