  1. Ha...thanks for the kind words. Appreciate that you came all the way over too.
  2. I read that one way to 'prevent' the flame angel from eating coals is to keep them well fed. Having some seaweed on a clip can keep them grazing & occupied.

  5. Some of my remaining Zoa. Feeding bits of market prawn. They love it.
  6. I occasionally have Yuma detaching when they are newly introduced into the tank. They just need some time with low flow to attach. But once settled in, they stay in place. Putting them in a small plastic tray with several small rocks help. They'll finally find one to attach. Another method I tried is this : Then cover with a mesh
  7. This is a great isolation box, especially if one is trying to train fishes to feed on pellets or frozen food. The filters will keep the food in. I'm not too sure wool being effective to capture ich protozoa though. Anyway, thanks for sharing these cool gadgets
  8. Interesting project....envious. Looking forward to updates
  9. This is part 2 of my reefing journal since starting the hobby about 8 months back. Link to Part 1 which covered much of the initial setup : More pictures to share here: Clown sucking on anemone tentacle This clown was hosting with another anemone in the past & moved to this pink one recently. Noticed it suckling & putting the tentacle/tip into its mouth. Google stated that its a common phenomenon - that its actually taking in the anemone's slime, causing it to change its own slime coat - so it gets immunity from being stung..... or something like that. Pink/Orange Yuma Torch Coral that's with me for many months - There's an odd 'mouth' which opens & closes. I'm not sure if its a clam (odd that its integrated into the flesh of the torch) or whether its the torches' mouth itself?
  10. I have a flame angel (purchased from Marine Life). Does not touch any of my Zoa. But does nip on new SPS for a couple of minutes whenever a new one is placed in. It ignores the SPS after that.
  11. http://www.ikea.com/sg/en/catalog/products/60134450/?query=TÄNDA+Timer%2C+24+hours This is the item. Take note of the max power load. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Analogue timer? Cheapest is at IKEA. 2 for about $9.50 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Those are likely spiroid worms - a harmless filter feeder. You can clean them off with a scraper or old credit card
  14. Can't see the parameters very clearly. Regarding Peak values. Could you state the numbers? UV ~ 25% Violet ~ 100% Deep Blue ~ 100% Royal Blue ~ 90%? Green ~ 10%? Red ~ 10% White ~? Also, what kind of LPS are you planning to keep? Some are more sensitive than others. I would also suggest to use the acclimatize feature as some of your numbers (eg. Violet) are on the high side. Sudden introduction to high light can lead to bleaching (my painful personal experience)
  15. Wow...very nice scape indeed. Looking forward to updates.
  16. Both blue leg & red leg hermit crabs are generally reef safe. Saw 2 Red Leg hermit crabs at Ah Beng today. Not sure about price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Really nice collection of Zoa. Thanks for sharing.
  18. Support! How's the SPS + Zoa in the same tank coming along?
  19. Thanks....this helps. Keen to try one of these days.
  20. Your ammonia is 0 right? Should be alright to remove the prawn & do a major water change (perhaps 50%) to halve the nitrates. Then you are all set to add livestock slowly.
  21. Nice tank Your alkalinity is quite high indeed but its probably not in the critical zone. What's your dosing regime like? I understand that prolonged high alkalinity can affect the mucus later of fishes leaving them more vulnerable to infections. Nitrate is likely to do with too much feeding & insufficient ways to remove the nitrates (either via water change, use of biopellets or chemicals to bind the nitrates).
  22. 'Live' rock typically refers to living organism & bacteria on the rock. Hence, in most cases, "Dry" (also means no living organism/bacterial) + "Live rock" seems to contract each other. However, perhaps you are referring to "Caribsea Life Rock". DE Aquatics should be carrying this product. According to its advertisement, "It comes seeded with a spore bacteria ready to act as your biological filtration that can be used to set up a new aquarium or added too an existing set up . Once wet the bacterial film containing the micro spore technology will become active , this will give that bacterial kick start to a new set up or if adding into an existing set up it will just simply give you a beneficial biological bacterial boost "
  23. Is it easy to care for the Christmas Tree worms? (eg. flow & feeding?)
