  1. Oops. There is a slight difference. This is the right file. AI Setting 091317.aip
  2. ATO reservoir done. Larger volume & replaces the original 10L jerry can And with a water level sensor to notify me when its almost empty.
  3. A fellow reefer got the culture from USA. Not cheap though. We may some live culture to let go occasionally. Can PM me if interested.
  4. Hola. I visit Barcelona occasionally for work. Which part of Spain are you located? This is my current setting The settings file : AI Setting 091317.aip
  5. Equipment maintenance weekend. Clean up the dust and pet fur from the Hydra light fixtures. Easy to access the fan blades. Just lift the plastic cover. No tools required And wipe away the splash stains especially those on the lens. Work in progress. Got an ATO reservoir from CR Aquarium. Waiting for the optical float switches to arrive.
  6. Nothing new in the Zoa tank. Using it more to host some baby clown fishes. Planning to use it as a quarantine tank for an AT when the right one comes along.
  7. Oh... sorry to hear that. What were the symptoms before it died? I'm running my tank around 26-27.5 degC. Yours?
  8. OK so far to get the culture dark green Keeping multiple cultures going in case one of them crash. The table is so cluttered now. Also trying to culture bottom dwelling Tisbe pods. They are supposedly better than tigger pods (which are mostly free swimming) for Mandarins and other finicky eaters.
  9. Makes sense. Thanks for sharing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Very nicely done. Any reason why you don't want to use the internal relay? Reliability? Can you share the relay model used here? What's the difference between the black & gray part?
  11. Sure A couple of reefers I know of are selling off extra live phyto. I should have some occasionally as well. Thanks Alex. Yeah... surprisingly effective. I had some queries about how my ATO & Kalk is set up. Here is the schematic. - Kalk is dripped in only after lights out (when pH is dropping) - ATO stops at a lower level, hence giving the Kalk top up a chance to be dripped in Current system pH
  12. Seachem marine buffer won't help. Deltec or Skimz have sulfur denitrators. Do share pics of your ATS DIY project
  13. Sulfur lowers tank pH (not raise) These Dymax denitrator balls wont do much for a large tank like yours. IMO, it will be wasted money. Biopellets (aka carbon dosing), large ATS or sulfur denitrator would probably work better.
  14. A suitably sized sulfur denitrator is very effective to reduce nitrates. The initial cycling process is troublesome unless you have an ORP meter. Generally, it tends to lower the tank pH a little because the effluent is pH about 7+ For phosphate removal, its very easily handled using rowaphos. Personally i prefer to use a reactor for it (eg. Two Little Fishies Phosban 150 reactor) so that the flow rate can be tuned up/down depending on the system phosphate levels. If done properly, the phosphate levels should reach the correct levels within a few days. For refugium to work, you will probably need a fairly large refugium to grow cheato (eg. 50% of your sump volume). A nice example is the Triton display tank at Sims Avenue. ATS works but again, it needs to be suitably sized to maintain water quality. You probably need several large water changes to bring it down from 40ppm to let's say 5ppm
  15. The Blue Spotted Jawfish moved house a couple of time the past week ...each time taking along all the small rocks to line its new tunnel (see pic). Think its finally settled to this final spot under a rock of Zoa with relatively high linear flow. The DIY LED strips for the ATS died a few weeks back. Found my old freshwater Green Element LED....might as well use it. ATS algae growth is very good. I'm sticking with this white LED light. Live phytoplankton & pod culturing area. I've been adding about 50ml of live phyto to my display tank on alternate days recently. In theory, phyto is at bottom of the food chain & everything above it will benefit (more pods, more zooplankton -> corals benefit etc) Phyto growth progress Bought an old school Skimz skimmate collection container from a fellow reefer yesterday. Resealed the leaks & did a simple mod for use as a Kalk stirrer container
  16. Every morning, these 2 colonies have chemical warfare. New addition the tank. Not sure of the ID. From Seasonal Aquarium opening day shipment. Valida Frag from Nigel
  17. Do post more. !! Thanks for sharing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Thanks - Good to know. Another thing i found was the outlet of the kalk tube clogs if exposed to air. Hence its placed just below the water surface.
  19. Finally did a net cover for the frag tank. There are 4 baby clown fishes in there now. Got hold of some some Ca, Mg, Alkalinity powder to correct my water parameters for the main tank as it drifted from target. I also always have them on standby in case the calcium reactor does not run (eg. run out of CO2). The instructions on the packaging label is very simple & straight forward for making a stock solution for dosing pumps. Or as in my case, to 'dose directly' (after diluting with water) The calcium mixes very well. Fully dissolved even with little water. No precipitates left behind unlike some other brands or those bulk supplements I've tried before. Same for Magnesium. This is 90g of powder Magnesium fully dissolved in less than a minute of stirring. I posted in the forum before about struggling to dissolve another brand's Magnesium powder fully - that was frustrating as it meant that the effect of each dose is inconsistent. No issues here This is definitely a great product for those using dosing pumps as well.
  20. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a very well designed tank. Particularly impressed with the items above. Do share more pics.
  21. Gave the CR a good wash & switched over to Rowalith & Grotech magnesium chips. The calcium chips are larger - so hopefully they won't turn to mush too quickly.
