  1. Its spiral & whitish? Google "spirorbid worms". I read its a filter feeder & harmless. BTW, i think you meant sump, not slump.
  2. Amazing to see them eating pellets. Nice I've inserted your video with thumbnail preview here :
  3. I also have a skimz overflow but but went with a PVC pipe instead - I glued a schedule80 1" PVC pipe into this bulkhead of the skimz box. But if i were to do this again, i'd just go with a washing machine hose (fastened via cable tie) since this is not a pressurized flow.
  4. Looks like bryopsis (an algae). High magnesium using liquid mg additives from brands like Kent Marine or Continuum Aquatics can remove it.
  5. The scarlet skunk cleaner ship has grown quite a bit & manning a 'cleaning station' at a far end of the tank. Now, fishes like this blue eye anthias would stop by its corner, reverse into the tight space for the shrimp to pick stuff off its body. Electric Flame Scallop. I've seen it move around at night but always goes back to its favorite spot in the morning without fail.
  6. Thanks for the tip. Attempting to correct it with Red Sea Coloration additives.
  7. Some equipment update : Got an Apex Neptune WXM module for more control over the Ecotech MP10 wavemakers Personally, i think my previous Jebao RW series are well worth the money. Jebao's are super silent compared to the MP10. I'm now using my old Jebao wavemakers to help mix salt during water change. Also installed an Apex Neptune ALD (Auto Leak Detector) module for the peace of mind. Also set up an auto top off system using a Tom's aqua lifter One thing i didn't like about the original Apex neptune breakout box was that it needed all ground wires be squeezed into one socket. I purchased an additional breakoutbox from Sim Lim to be used for ground only. Installed a UV filter. Slow flow rate for sterilization Its interesting that the inlet hose is full of algae But the outlet hose is algae free. Shows that UV works. I read that UV removes iron. This is a trace element that corals require. Parameters : Ca : 430ppm (30ml Red Sea Foundation A daily) kh : 8.4 (20 ml Red Sea Foundation B daily) Mg : 1240 ppm (30ml Red Sea Foundation C daily) Nitrate : 5ppm (running bio pellets with occasional Brightwell Aquatics Biofuel if i remember to dose) Phosphate : < 0.03 (running rowaphos) Salinity : Dropped it to 1.024 Iodine : 0.003ppm Fe : 0ppm Potassium : 370ppm Started Red Sea Coral Colors regime today to push up the above parameters. Half tank shot The other half Clowns hosting the elegance coral
  8. I think both Goniopora & Alveopora are sensitive to sudden changes in water parameters. For example, my Gonio shut for 2 weeks when I dosed about 100ppm magnesium one shot. Barely survived back then. Anyway, good luck with the lovely Alveopora you have.
  9. Wow. Nice Bubble Tip Anemone!! Happy Chinese New Year!!
  10. What i did : One continuous line for vertical. One continuous for horizontal. One for diagonal
  11. There are some hardware shops in SGP that carry it. These are their online links. Personally, i've purchased things from Horme hardware before. They also have retail shops. http://www.estore.com.sg/novus-02-fine-scratch-remover-for-plastics-59.2ml-p-103-69-1007.html http://www.horme.com.sg/product.aspx?id=2535
  12. Thanks. Wished i had an 'underwater' camera like yours.
  13. For most digital cameras, Its the menu selection that typically has "auto", "Cloudy", "Flourescent" symbols. There is usually a selection for CWB (Custom White Balance). And from here, you can set the Kelvin temperature. Setting around 8K to 10k will give you a slightly bluish but nice tint. Again, all these depend on your own light setting on how blue it is in the 1st place.
  14. Huge present. Let me guess....some lights?
  15. Lovely tank. All the best in the small island. The country thanks you. [emoji16] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Some recent photos to share : Harlequin shrimp Sea slug feeding on blue sponge. Seeking advice : I started getting this on my glass after I started feeding/dosing phytoplakton. What's this?
  17. The orange filter works to compensate for bluish light. Photo quality is so-so with the filter but at least its possible to get some photos with the camera phone. The best method is still to set custom white balance on the digital camera.
  18. You can get it at Petmart (@Serangoon). Do call before going down.
  19. One option is to get the Apex Neptune system. Available from DE Aquatics. Options are : - Purchase the breakout box module. Install float switch to detect high water level in the display tank in case the overflow fails - Purchase the leak detector module. Place on floor. The fear of DIY overflow is that the siphon breaks. One cheap option is to install a Tom's Aqua lifter (~ $15) to draw air/water out continuously.
