  1. Available at most LFS (eg. Madpetz, C328 etc). A good brand i've tried is "Pro Feed". About $15 per bottle. For hatching them, you can get a brine shrimp hatchery. Personally i like the "Hobby Brine Shrimp Hatchery". Google it. Else, there are many ways to DIY simple ones that use air pump. Set up & process can be found on youtube.
  2. In parallel to searching for pods for long term purposes, I’d suggest just hatching baby brine shrimp from eggs. Only 24hrs to hatch and be able to feed your mandarin. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. The idea from Full Hedge is good. An alternative is to use soft netting (those green or black type). Secure with rubber band around the wavemaker. The holes are bigger & won't clog or reduce flow significantly. Anemones like a rock with a small recess where they can stick their foot in. So either find a rock like that or construct one.
  5. You can check out the Triton showroom at Sin Min. Last i recall they were running without filter sock/wool. Water goes straight to refugium/chaeto area before flowing to skimmer compartment. Able to maintain very low nutrient levels.
  6. Pocillopora Symbiot crab spawning. Its quite interesting that these crabs were released into other types of SPS in other parts of the tank previously but they 'migrated' towards to pocci. I now have 3 in the pocci colony. Baby blue gorgonian (non photosynthetic). I received some queries on what I feed the gorgonians. Mostly DIY frozen food (minced fish meat, oyster, prawns. No supplements) 2x a day for fishes & corals. The minced fish meat particles are small enough for the gorgonian polyps. And Reef Roids/Oyster Feast 2-3 times a week. Skimmer hard at work: Many thanks to Alex for the nano tank. Please let me return the favor one day. I peeled off the Dymax sticker at the side as i needed to see the IOS easily (eg. water level, cleanliness of the pump etc). Super sticky film. Lighter fluid was best for softening the adhesive. Turpentine to clean up the sticky residue left on the acrylic. Then a thorough wash. Cycling starts.
  7. Some macro shots : Non photosynthetic gorgonians Brittle Starfish from my tank under a microscope.
  8. Agree. Having your own RODI is so convenient. It’s not that expensive. Madpetz or DEAquatic have several integrated models available Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Impressed with this work horse. Especially for such a big tank.
  10. I believe the steel screws/clips will not corrode too much because magnesium also functions as the sacrificial anode. Nevertheless, its a good idea to add some brackets.
  11. Finally replaced the sediment filter & carbon filters. Roughly 6 months & gone through about 2600 liters. Replaced the DI resin as well. The carbon filters will have loads of sediments due to movement during transportation. Hence its important to flush it out & not let it get into the RO membrane. After about 2 minutes. White pail looks quite clear. Hooked everything up. TDS measurement after RO membrane but before DI resin. TDS still quite high. Good time to backflush the membrane. After about 2 minutes backflush. Water out from RO membrane TDS ~ 3 Water after DI resin : 0 TDS
  12. This should be suitable Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. 'Common' clowns and they are my fav ones Anemone splitting in progress Recovering in a basket. A good time to get it to attach to a new rock Notice the algae blenny will often rest inside the wavemaker when they are turned off. Its a good thing the Vortech wavemakers have a feature to 'pulse' a couple of degrees before starting the full rotation. This gives time to fishes inside to swim out.
  14. LEDs for the zoa tank would surely have nice colors. Look forward to more pics...or visit
  15. Generally any brand of clear silicon WITHOUT funky additives like mold inhibitor are suitable for our purpose. If worried about unknown brands, GE & Dow Corning are popular ones available locally. Can get from neighborhood hardware shops. For connecting male/female pipes, using white teflon (plumbers tape) tape is sufficient - this is needed as water can seep through the threads. No need for glue/adhesive. Teflon tape can get from neighborhood hardware shops. For pipes, you can get from most neighbourhood hardware shops. Or if you want it cheaper & with most selection, Hai Cheong Plastic (@ Kallang). Madpetz should also carry some more commonly used ones for our tanks.
  16. I reef roids/oyster feast about 2-3 times a week. Aside from that, I also feed frozen (DIY) fish/prawn meat 2x a day. Still monitoring. I've had the NPS since late Nov. OK so far.
  17. Night time flashlight lit pics : Spider Sponge. Not easy to keep though Candy Cane closeup Candy Cane : Orange Pavona :
  18. Got the colony on 28th Oct. Its 2 months now. Still yellow. Fingers crossed it maintains this way. Aiyo...rock flower anemone can be quite fragile at times. 2 died so far Still trying to build a nice collection if budget allows.
  19. Thanks Larry for the reactor. Made a new kalk stirrer reactor In case you want to see the inside of Two Little Fishies vege clip magnet. its not epoxy sealed but does a great job to keep water out.
  20. Growing well. Tenuis in white light. Looks quite yellow Same tenuis in blue light Forest Fire digi.
  21. Noticed a couple of baby rock flower anemone in the tank This was found next to the main group This was found on the rock far right side of the tank. Its a pity I just discovered them & had siphoned the sand last week. Its possible that some could have been siphoned away Looking for folks who have baby rock flowers. Keen to swap when they are slightly larger.
  22. Thanks for sharing. That's velcro on the bottom surface?
